Another excellent, informative video! Thank you! Please keep more of these “routine maintenance” videos coming. It’s valuable information for potential Woodland Mills sawmill owners, like myself!

Thank You for your fast response
What I found was on the blade guides there are a total of 12 set screws and 6 were missing
and because of that the guides wore crooked, I replace all the missing crews and blade guides
Also guides were not set rite. up and running again
I hope this helps any one reading this that this helps out.
    Thanks Jim

Good video. Thanks for stressing the importance of using the cogged belt design vs conventional v-belt design. A LOT of people dismiss that simple detail. It matters.

Hi Jack, thank you for this video. You mentioned the usefulness of a welded nut on the tension arm, if there was one, to rotate the arm and maintain tension while tightening the upper bolt. I have used the idler wheel bolt precisely for that purpose: turning it clockwise turns the arm in the same direction. Is that a bad idea? Do you think I risk damaging it? Thank you

Yeah, I thought the idler bolt might work, but after aligning the idler pulley and realizing how it's setup, I decided it wasn't a good idea to horse on that bolt to tighten the belt. There is a leveling washer stack in the pulley mount that is used to adjust the pulley alignment (lets the pulley swivel to set the angle and make sure there is no twist in the belt). I would not want to put a lot of load on the bolt since it could cause the leveling washers to slip and throw out the pulley alignment.

Have you tried blades by other manufacturers other than Woodland Mills?

Great video. Can A slightly loose drive belt throw off tracking ?. my wheels are in perfect alignment. vertical and horizontal. After I adjusted the wheels I milled about 6 or 7 logs with out any issue and now the drive wheel side blade track to the back putting to much pressure on the guide bearing. belt looks real good. any suggestions. Many Thank Jim

I don't think a loose belt would play a major role in tracking, but it can't help. If the mill is new, it might need another tracking adjustment if things have broken in and settled. I seem to remember having to tweak tracking slightly after a couple weeks of use.

It's good to know that you can buy these belts cheaper at the auto parts store because they are pretty expensive on there website. Do the belt wear out only on one side? Do you think it's a good idea to flip the belt to extend it's life? I'm buying a sawmill next year and I find your videos very helpful. Thanks

The wear seems to be even all across the belt. Over time, the belt gets squashed/flattened due to tension on the blade and that puts a bit of a muffin-top shape on the V.

If cord fur appears on only one side of the belt, check BELT tracking on the tension adjustment wheel. Belt should not move in or out when the drive wheel is rotated and backward. WM has a procedure for that.

How many hours have you been getting out of a st of belts? On my hm122 I am only getting 10 to 12 hours of run time but maybe that's all they get. I have been tensioning my ban with a torque wrench at 20 ftlb. Thank you

My first belt only lasted 4-5 hours but I realigned the idler pulley and belts last a lot longer. I think I average about 25-30 hours now.
