The invasive crayfish are the ones with red under the claws, when you look you can't miss it. They were American and we're originally bread for food over there and someone managed to get a few over in the uk and released them but they out breed our native ones and also attack and kill them as they are alot stronger. It's actually illegal to knowingly put the American ones back in although I don't think they often enforce it! 😂. To be fair they are quite nice to eat aswell as they just taste like prawn although I wouldn't eat them from the canal ha ha! If you could find a fresh water river with them in though it would make for a good video, I should imagine there's locations of rivers with them in all over the Internet. To catch them just put some raw bacon or cat food in an old sock throw it in and leave it 5 minutes, steadily pull it out and you should have some. If you do this boil them like you would do a lobster and only eat the tail and if their big enough maby the claw meat.

After watching the part with the crayfish about 10 times, I think it falls out of that hole on the underside of the scooter. You've just evicted him from the best home in the canal

I think the item at 4:30 is a socket wrench meant to reach bolts in inaccessible places, like deep in car engines and so on.

I got into magnet fishing so far and in my first month I found:
2 scooters
4 bikes
6 knives (i live in a area full of chavs)
Pennies
A old airsoft gun
Pipe wrench
Bong
13 Hippie crack (smack heads barging is what we call them in Birmingham)
Bullets
Bottle caps
A time capsule
Razors
Key rings
Be aware I go to a very dodge area and I only go when it's raining cause the chavs dont want there coats ruined
I highly encourage it but be careful everyone
carry a weapon , like a can of starting fluid and books of matches or a can of pink spraypaint or a screwdriver et cetera

I went under a bridge on the Grand Union over the weekend and dragged out a motorbike frame, Makita battery, cash box and a 2m piece of rebar. Loads of evidence that people have magnet fished that certain bridge to death but I STILL found decent stuff. A member of the public told me that CRT regularly dredge the Grand Union in Milton Keynes... Yeah right!

Hi mate the area is fairly clean but we have a few spots still to do
I use a water bottle attached to the magnet eye bolt, it acts as ballast. The heavier the magnet, more air I leave in the bottle. I haven't got a double sided magnet, yet. But, I can float multiple magnets across the bottom of any waterway with ease. Throwing it is tough, tho.

Bicycles and scooters are often dumped in the water, do not know why.
That is an American crayfish, it also conquers Dutch surface water.
Must be eliminated.
Quite a job to get the safe above the water, but succeeded in retaining your magnet.

Chances of you finding a native white claw in the manchester canal are slim to none. That one was a signal, if you pick them up the signal have red claws on the underside.
Are they the bad ones?
@@drasticg The signal crayfish are the non-native American ones. They are much bigger with Red on the underside of there claws (its actually illegal to put them back into the water). The English ones are white claws with a cream colour under there claw and dont grow bigger than 12cm.

The Signal Crayfish is the invasive one. The White claw is the UK native which is now in decline because of the USA import.

Hi mate alot of homes and all businesses have safes but the problem is most dont secure the safes well enough to the floor/wall and some dont even bother thats why so many get cut open and thrown in canas
Safe will be easier to bring up if you can find some way to turn it so water comes out

I was actually shocked when I found out that Canadian geese are in Europe, I'm not sure why you don't treat them as invasive species and have them removed (just googled they are an invasive species and were brought to europe).

That Crayfish came out of the scooter hole on its base.
The American Signal Crays are the invasive ones identified by red under claws which that one had.

B) Are there fish in there?

Hi yes the cans can fit 2 or more boats side by side so they can pass each other
There are plenty of fish in most of the can stretches
They only smell if you remove something from the bottom of the canal that disturbs all the sunk silt / oil etc
Hi mate the difference in evasive and native crayfish is the ones you should remove have red under the claws UK ones have white to grey clays. Hope that helps hope one day we can meeting up and magnet fish.
