      @MatthewTheWanderer the Bible is filled with footnotes, a description of a bloodline, it's history, you can't prove a lot of the bloodlines in other history books because it's too old but that doesn't mean it's fiction.

      My daughter is 13 and had no idea that there was segregation in the 60s and earlier. Apparently they don't really teach that or the holocaust much in school , because i asked a few 16/17 yr olds who also never knew about either thing. very scary - if they are not being taught about how bad it was, how are we gonna avoid it happening again - unfortunately, it's already started happening again with all the anti-white segregation and accepted anti-semitism.

      Exactly, that is what's sad on the far right and left people are beyond stupid. When truth no longer matters people can be made to believe crimes didn't occur, elections were stolen without proof, officers died over the January 6th insurrection yet it was justified how? The same people who supposedly keep this county's institutions in high regard desecrate the Capital building and are seen as patriots that Trump wants to pardon. The left doesn't get off either for defunding law enforcement to the point where there is no consequences for any drug use or crime. The police don't even have the power to go after a shoplifter or car thief. Forcing woke diversity and transgender learning in schools that should be teaching core subjects not feminist ideology. The world has gone completely nuts.

    Bill Maher is a great comedian, and I have been watching him for decades. Great comedians make witty observations about society and the world, and points out the ridiculousness of it all from their perspective. They hold up a mirror to us and show us our absurdity. I love it. Behind the punch line, however, there is often a gross mischaracterization of serious issues, and Bill does his share of it. He often mocks his own straw men . We groan and shake our head, but we laugh anyway, knowing there is much more to the story. In any case, making us laugh heartily and reflect is high art, and Bill Maher is a master of it.

I agree with you that, in general, if his show was not about scandalous topics that his show wouldn't be as much of a hit as it is right now. What's wrong with highlighting the madness of the world. We need to know these kinds of things. Also, at the end of the day, it's just his opinion, one perspective. No one should blindly follow a media figure. We use our own experience, and rational skills to make the end decision. I would never blame him for the world's madness. I'm an adult, therefore I take responsibility for my own actions. I like to watch Bill. He brings up a lot of great points, but he seems to generalize whole groups of people a lot more these days. He keeps talking about how 'all the young people, and everyone who goes to college, are rooting for terrorists to destroy Israel and promote open shoplifting' when that's not the case at all. Most people of this younger generation want many of the same things. There are some loud voices out there who try to make a name for themselves by spouting controversial garbage so they can get more "clicks" on social media platforms, but the overwhelming majority of people (I think) just want to see some more humanity shown toward one another and less of this "Us versus Them" mentality. It is possible to vehemently denounce evil terrorist groups like hamas, but still recognize that there are innocent children and babies, etc. in Gaza having 2000-pound bombs dropped on them with no end in sight. We should be allowed to be bothered by that without being antisemitic or "pro-terrorist". We should also be able to support Israel's right to defend itself and be allies to the Jewish people and recognize the pain they felt after experiencing a horrible terrorist attack that included the kidnappings of 240 of their citizens, but also critical of Netanyahu and his far-right government, just as we are of the far-right factions in our own government. We can hold two thoughts in our heads at the same time and not be bad people. I think Bill forgets that sometimes and promotes the idea that everyone is on the extreme-side of any issue.
    .
    Also, I personally don't wear a mask anymore and sometimes still see people wearing masks around town, but guess what, they're not hurting anyone. If that's your big concern with the world, I don't know what to tell you.

    The right says if you're slightly left of the mid-line you're far left while the left says if you're slightly right of the mid-line you're far right. You want a return to sanity? You have to first deal with a human being's desire to hate. Good luck.

    • @briane173
      @briane173 10 місяців тому

      That of course won't happen, but it's made more manifest and socially acceptable in the age of social media and an agenda-driven press. It used to be I'd rail against the far left for positing the notion that everyone to the right of far left is a fascist and that they themselves are simply "correct." The right's answer? A complete repudiation of ANYONE who dares to blaspheme Donald Trump, because after all, Orange Jesus is the Second Coming. Can't make this shit up. And the more dug in they are, the more insane they get.

      More insidious, I think, is the thinking that you can agree with 90% of someone's positions, but a single deviation- however thoughtful, personal, and un-evangelized said position might be- is enough to render you a fascist, or a RINO.

    The employees attempts to stop a shoplifter, gets injured, sues the owner. That is why almost every retailer has a policy that prohibits their employees from attempting to stop shoplifters. It has been this way for years.

      @brandishwar 10 місяців тому +10

      Exactly. Plus there's always the risk the shoplifter is armed. And no one should be putting their life on the line to protect store inventory.
      So when the potential risk of stopping a theft in progress is the employee attempting to do so is killed or seriously injured, that is more costly to the store than whatever is being taken. It's far less expensive to the store to just file an insurance claim and police report on the stolen merchandise compared to an insurance claim and police report on the stolen merchandise AND an injured or dead employee. That's why stores have policies in place where they will fire those trying to stop a crime in progress.

    • @cwingnam
      @cwingnam 10 місяців тому +12

      Having a policy doesn't mean you fire any person who broke it, there are warning letters and there would be a clause in the contract stating any injury suffer while breaking this 'safety policy' is not compensatable. It is clearly that the firing is politcal motivated instead of afraid of paying anything.
