However, there are a variety of minor resonance structures in which that lone pair resonates into the ring. But again, they are minor structures that make up a smaller percentage of that molecule in solution.

Mam if there are both activating and deactivating groups present on a ring then to whom respect we will perform eas reaction? Like if there are COOH group as well as OCH3 group and assume at meta position, COOH group is present with respect to OCH3 and both ortho position of OCh3 group is block by some other group like ch3 and only para position is remaining then where eas reaction will proceed? As at para position when seen from och3 is activating the group, where as COOH group is deactivating at that poisition then what will happen? Sorry for my english!
