Killer opening track. Blew me away when I first heard/saw it. I had never heard of Gamma Ray (I'm in the USA and I don't get out much) before, but about 10 years ago, I mentioned to someone that I happened to run into a CD of Avantasia's first album, which I fell in love with, and that person suggested I buy this DVD concert, so I did. And wow. Opened up a whole new musical window. I'm now a huge power metal fan, and Gamma Ray and Avantasia are my favorites, because they were my first listens. These bands are a big part of my happiness.
At this point you might have also heard of Blind Guardian, Primal Fear, Stratovarius, Hammerfall, Running Wild, Freedom Call, Masterplan, Angra. These are all amazing power metal bands
If You´ve ever heard the song before, and You´re just listening this for a reason or what so ever. I think what happens at 7.07 will come as a surprice. I heard the album version but this blew the living shit out of me, how great Kai can be. Just, just awesome! He gets higher than anything, amazing!
Kai Hansen is a fantastic vocalist and guitarist, and yes that vocal at 7:07 blew me away as well. But most of all, Kai is also a wonderful composer of music and wrote so many amazing songs. I am hoping for another Gamma Ray album. Henjo Richter is also amazing, as is Dirk Schlechter and Dan Zimmerman with this concert. This music makes me happy.
I do believe this is the best GR line up of all time. Zimmerman is a beast and Kai's vocals are on point. I realize for the sake of the fans Kai had to step aside as lead vocalist but it shows his humility and concern for the band as a whole putting on a killer show. Hope to see them on tour soon.
I wasn't there, but I have the DVD, and it is my favorite concert to play through my sound system. Killer audio and video presentation, and perfectly mixed to boot. I was unaware of Gamma Ray until someone recommended this concert to me. I fell in love with it, and it made me an instant Gamma Ray fan. I now own all of their CDs. I hope they tour in North America soon, as I would love to see them live!

There is a taped show from 1999 here on you tube with this song bieng performed along with gamma ray performing live their version of its a sin the pet shop boys classic.

tldr 2:32. They sound great. Not sure if you would call it a solo but the guitar part at 6:03 seemed too simple to carry the song. The half step (I think) drop is neat though as are the other (guitar) embellishments along the way.
@@LeonHaselbach Now he couldn't do it, indeed, his voice definitely gone down these last years but in 2011 it was still there. I was at this precise gig and it was insane ! Well he's 57 now and never stopped smoking so... I'm a bit sad but I love him anyway, Gamma Ray is just perfect to me.
