Here's a showcase of ten references to the Super Mario games found in other games by Nintendo, from classics like 1080° Snowboarding to obscure Japanese exclusive NES games like Heisei: Shin Onigashima.

Captain Rainbow seems super wacky, I wish it made it outside of Japan. Might look into playing it somehow now...
There's a translation patch available. I believe it's 100% complete. Google it, and you'll find it pretty easily.

Hey I played Alleyway recently on the Gameboy NSO when it came out. It's super fun and gives a different pace from when we play first party games like Mario platformers.
I also like Alleyway a lot. I also like Breakout and other games that play like Breakout but Alleyway is amazing. The music is great too especially the bonus music. I could play this forever when I have enough time.
Mario is everywhere… and his presence is ever-dominating! 🏆

Woah, I had no idea Intelligent Systems made a breakout clone before they made Fire Emblem. Apparently they worked on Metroid and a lot of the launch NES games, too!
The Gold Mario statue was also seen in “BS Super Mario USA”, a version of the US SMB2 where random mechanics occur, and you collect Gold Mario statues for extra lives.
Also, the Super Mario Bros. Super Show had an episode where Bowser becomes “Koopzilla”, much like how SimCity has Bowser in this situation.
Of all the Mario cameos in Caption Rainbow, you don't talk about the obvious Birdo?!
In Captain Rainbow you can also fish a blooper. And then there's a portrait of Mario himself hanging inside Crazy Tracy's house, alongside Link from Legend of Zelda, because those are are two guys she considers "real men". Nick has to do everything he can to get Takamaru (the protagonist from the Famicom game Nazo no Murasamejo) to overcome his fear of women and get him and Tracy together (after which Takamaru's portrait joins those of Mario and Link above her throne).
I'd love to play Captain Rainbow, it is luke a Nintendo version of Segagaga... love when classic characters get some love

It almost implies Mario added himself over an existing bust of Wario, and you just removed the crust...
I saw a video of alleyway where the ball hit the differently coloured blocks at the right time and it produced the opening notes of the mario theme
I love the SMB3 easter egg in Celeste: in Chapter 4, you can crouch on a white platform and fall into the background for a -secret-, just like you would to get a warp whistle in SMB3!

One game that managed to reference Mario outside of a Nintendo console was the Simpsons game (2007)

I heard about Capitan Rainbow briefly, but i knew that Alleyway was added in NSO app, because of Mario been the main character in that game, despite the bland nature.

The Captain Rainbow Mario pipe sound sounds like the one from Mario Sunshine. I'm not an expert though.
It's actually the one from the Super Mario Galaxy games, Super Mario 3D Land and World + Bowser's Fury and Super Mario Odyssey
so for the 1st game with the mario statue if you listen closely you can hear the song that plays when you grab the flag at the end of mario bros 1... also most of the early GB games have mario for anything... tetris has the bros as vs icons.. tennis hes ref, baseball same, even the nes has his huge career going on too in not just smb games...
