- 4401 doing speed testing along a close Queen Street East whole utilizing the pantograph.
4401 is the second of 204 of the TTC's new Low Floor Light Rail Vehicles. All of the 204 LFLRVs are expected to replace the ageing streetcar fleet of approximately 250.

Cool video.
This is the first one I've seen where the new streetcar is allowed to fly like that. All the other testing videos show a very cautious and slow pace.
Also, very rare, seeing a streetcar reverse on street.
the reversing was the best part, especially the freaking backup lights.!!!! i assume these have rear controls like a PCC.... since they're only single ended...
That's neat... never seen a streetcar reverse before...
The new streetcars are also equipped with the same trolley pole system in use on the CLRV and ALRV stock. This can be used until lines are eventually upgraded for pantograph use.
Fun fact : the CLRV used to go that fast
Very nice! I was there last night too, just uploading my footage now.
hey that's me running away from my problems :P
Aside from the pantograph, what is the other source of power? I heard something about them not using the pantograph for the first while, and switching to it later due to the power lines not supporting them. Is that correct? Also, what is the top speed and the realistic speed that will be achieved? Sorry for the many questions. Thanks for the video!
Thanks!
i wish they actually went that fast
How fast?
Interesting, its using the Tram pole for overhead power instead of the Trolley Pole at the rare.
omg! why is it so long. I understand for more people to get on but I think that's a little crazy. I really think some bad accident is going to happen.
I am so glad I don't live in Toronto any more!!!
It's only slightly longer than the existing articulated streetcars, but more manoeuvrable because it bends more.
