  • Do you swing on your forehand volley or use your forehand grip to hit forehand volley's. I'm going to show you how to make the switch from using the forehand and swing to get power to use a continent grip and using your body to get more power.

I appreciate this video! Just subscribed to you, I played a set of doubles yesterday and shanked every volley because wow I’m way too tense at the net

@totaltennisdomination Thanks for the video super helpful. question. How tight do you hold your grip(scale of 1 to 10) and do you keep your wrist locked? Thanks in advance.

great video! but where i am still getting stuck is knowing when to volley. how do you gauge that the ball is coming to a volley zone versus letting my partner take it? i’m all set up to push but then i end up watching the ball pass by me the entire match because it always seems too high lol.

The guy from 2 minute tennis said you should switch your grip from a forehand volley to a backhand volley. What are your feelings on this

You must use the continental grip for volleys. There is no time to switch grips when at net. Plus for low volleys only the continental grip works. The guy from 2 minute tennis has some bad advice and instruction IMHO.

I used to like that dude, he has some interesting videos but as people on my country would say "he wants to reinvent the wheel" every so often... he would post videos criticizing pros' mechanics... I don't know, he seems weird to me sometimes.

Like TTD said its easier to drive, but harder to do a feel drop shot, or a half volley or something, and you'd have to keep adjusting for a backhand volley or smash. Personally I'd just learn a slightly harder forehand volley in continental to make everything else easier. That said I did see a video with a Japanese ATP pro who used a slight forehand grip so it is a valid way of volleying if you like.

Forehand grip on volley is only for low level play where you have enough time to change grips.. what 2 min tennis guy demonstrated in his video is slower ball pace

In defense of switching grips, the forehand is unquestionably more stable when moving closer to eastern. The hands should always come back together to reset for the next volley, at which point the offhand can switch the grip faster than the body can turn, so there is time at all levels when done simultaneously. To those ridiculing it, have you actually tried with an open mind?

Actually I used to think that but I tried it and I love it so far. Plus my tennis skills transfer over to pickleball and I am immediately very good at pickleball. Finally I get a better workout from pickleball singles than tennis .. so win win

@@zenpanda100 you don't move much in pickleball. That's why I don't like it.

True, pickleball doubles has not much movement. More movement in singles though
