    I don't recall ever fitting a kitchen that didn't have a design flaw, it's all computer designed it makes you wonder how they can mess up. The corner posts are such an obvious thing, better to just supply a couple of 300 end panels or doors and let the fitter make them to suit. for doors with a profile I used to cut the corner posts at 45deg for a nice finish. Great to watch thanks Del.

    Another top video Del 👌👌👌. You know your way around a kitchen job. You knew the corner posts weren’t working for you. That’s experience for ya. Around the dishwasher/washer I like to cut a piece of spare plinth or panel with an edge at 600mm and screw it in, sometimes pocket screw from the top. I just do it position the panels and don’t need to jack up the appliance as much. Looking forward to part 2 when I get time to watch 😆.

      Hi Marc🖐Pocket screwing a complete 602mm wide panel into the d/w opening is such a good idea, and the other supplier I use, actually includes this size panel, pocket drilled and ready to go👍Like you say screwing this panel in the top does so many things from keeping the opening the right size, keeping it square and parallel, plus reducing the opening height a little👊Thanks for your comment 😎 Cheers Del

  • @theoneoffworkshop
    @theoneoffworkshop Рік тому +1

    Another great video and another instance where the joiner has to rectify the problems caused by a poor designer. In my humble opinion, for symmetry the panels really should be mirrored top and bottom. In this case the wall cabs over the oven are off set, because of the wall end panels, losing symmetry and causing the delay and extra work that you had to carry out. All for the sake of one base end panel ripped in half and each half placed either side of the oven. This would have reduced labour and symmetry would have been restored. The designer obviously wanted you to go to a lot of the extra work to highlight his discrepancy. There are some great kitchen designers out there (generally ex joiners 😜) and then there are the others who can’t think past the screen they live in front of where everything works because it’s on a screen. Well done Del, great job as usual 👍🏼

    You always make kitchen fitting look easy. It is easier with quality components rather than self destruct Chinesium ones. And your units are pre assembled. I can only think of one kitchen ever, where I fitted pre made units. All the multitude of others have been flat pack. Most annoying here is nothing left on anything that can be cut to fit. So it fits or it doesn't. If you do cut anything it falls apart. Just horrible. Reminds me of the flat packs in the 80's. Was it MFI ? Half the parts missing or bits damaged. At least they had outlets that stocked parts. They knew no pack was complete. Tidy little Low set, as they say in Oz. Nicer colour kitchen than the last one.

      Hi Dave🖐Yes, certainly all kitchens are not created equal, and I know exactly what you mean about units that disintegrate as soon as you go near them with a saw😲I've always thought of traditional style, wall and base unit kitchens as pretty unimaginative, and think 'kitchen designer' is a bit of a false title, as your not really 'designing' anything, just fitting predetermined sized boxes into a space as best you can, choosing a colour and some worktops😕Each to thier own I guess👍Thanks for your comment bud 😎 Cheers Del

    Great work del as usual, I usually just go up to the legs with the finished floor then the plith will cover is there a reason why you wind the legs back onto the floor? Just wondering!

    • @thetallcarpenter
      @thetallcarpenter  Рік тому

      Hi there🖐I find that the clips are designed to 'pull' the plinth back onto the foot at the bottom and the leg mount at the top, and sometimes, if the floor/underlay is too thick, the bottom of the plinth will not catch the foot of the leg, and not sit upright but 'dive in' at the bottom👍Thanks for watching 😎Cheers Del

      Is that including the worktops. I’ve got 6 base/ 7 wall and an extractor above a stove going in . Quartz worktops / upstands separate company . Trying to get fitters in Edinburgh area a nightmare. Old kitchen out and been quoted up to 2K to fit them . Watching your videos I’m tempted to do it myself.

    Hi Del! It would be literally so helpful for me,if you could tell me what's the distance from the floor to the wall that you put your Laser in for the base units,it's usually 82 cm or...?
