Thank you for this! I got an offer from Magdalen today (didn't apply there - applied to Worcester) and, although I saw a little of it when I was interviewed there (didn't take much in though as I was too busy shaking!!) I'd actually never seen it before (somehow never made it that far on open day), and so this video was really helpful for me :) it looks amazing and I've fallen in love with it :)
+ To be honest I expected that the standard of accommodation especially for Magdalen College would be much better then I thought. I am really disappointed. Graduated student from Food Science and Human Nutrition.

Jono Pyle 5 years later! Thanks for still commenting though, hahaha! I didn’t get the offer in the end though, but I ended up going to manchester and graduated 2 years ago.

Jamoe, the accomodation and catering are the least fascinating topic of the video, and the most fascinating is the old architecture, rooms, walk ways and gardens. It zooms through those and that's all i wanted to see in the video, Magdalen college, the hostorical monument. It would be awesome if you could send out a slow version of the walk around the quads and any other historically informative video. Thanks

Free gym and swimming membership, squash courts, field for informal ball games and I believe somewhere to play tennis.
I second that a video on managing money at Oxford would be incredibly useful.

I was expecting much more lavish accommodation. A student is a student, I guess.
+CowLunch I still think it is the nicest place I've ever called home. There was a deer park outside my window! I doubt that will ever be true again :P
Thanks for this and all your other fantastic videos!! I'm considering applying to Magdalen but I've been getting slightly mixed messages about the atmosphere of the college. How did you find it (socially and academically)?
Yep! There are two, one is a movie room and the other is more a games room. Better yet, they are getting refurbished for next term. Rumour has it it'll feature a pool table, table tennis, table football, a lovely new TV... Oh and there is a Wii :)

i’ve received an offer from jesus college and there’s an open day for offer holders approaching. is it possible, considering it’s term time, to visit magdalen at the end of the day, i’d be interested to see the deer and the college’s architecture. would this be free or need to be payed for it possible?
I was a student at a much less grand college (Exeter), but the accommodation was far better than this.
Exeter is grand as well, that dining hall tho 🔥
How is the student financial support at Magdalene? Is it at good as St. John’s?

What a dump. Like most Oxford colleges it all top show. Lovely mellow limestone buildings but in reality, the wonderful facades conceal a third-rate facility.
