We really appreciate the heads up on this, Steve. It's a simple correction, but easy to forget exactly how to get it done. You help make it super easy!
In my 2024 Corolla, I have selected settings to have the car connect automatically via Bluetooth to the navigation app on my Android Cell phone when I get in. I keep that navigation display up essentially all the time on the car's Multimedia console, so that's where I always look for the time of day that is included on the map display. It is always right and does in fact turn off Daylight Saving Time when it is supposed to, just as your cell phone does. However, the time display in the car's Instrument Cluster behind the steering wheel is strictly controlled by the car's systems and does not consult the connected cell phone. So when Fall arrived and DST stopped, I found the time on the Multimedia Display was "right", but that on the car's Instrument Panel was exactly one hour ahead. Perhaps confusing, the time on the Instrument Panel is not controlled by any buttons on the steering wheel, but rather via the Settings gear-wheel on the Multimedia console. Since there is a slide-switch on the Settings menu to "update the time automatically" for the CAR, you might think that would include toggling DST on and off as necessary. But no. (I'm guessing that is just too complicated, considering that there are some small territories with in the USA that do not use the DST seasonal time offset.) So you need to turn DST on or off manually with the other slide-switch in the same options display. You need to remember that DST is an artificial offset to the "real" time that adds an hour if it is ON but doesn't if it is OFF. Hence, in the Fall the time displayed on the clock must "fall back" an hour, which means you need to turn OFF the DST adjustment. The whole "DST" feature is just a "dumb" manual thing - When DST is on it simply adds one hour to whatever time was displayed. And of course, whatever you do with this setting for the CAR has no effect at all on the time acquired and displayed on the Multimedia Display by an app on your cell phone. So, for example, this has no effect on the time displayed on the Multimedia console by the Android navigation app coming from my phone. Once I turned OFF the car's DST adjustment, the time displayed on the Instrument cluster then matched that on the navigation screen on the Multimedia console.
I am also facing this problem with my new Toyota bZ4X. But I do not think that is what Toyota doing on their new cars. I have other Toyota owners saying that their clocks adjusted that automatically. If Toyota cars really cannot adjust the time automatically, then many people will change their minds in buying Toyota.
Very simple, but given new Toyota's are already synced with your Toyota app, & the GPS coordinates are always known by the vehicle, it would seem it would update automatically, based on your location. My '24 GMC does that, & I'm sure most other new vhricles do as well, or no?
I had the same thought. If it can update the time automatically, it should be able to update daylight savings automatically. My phone does, as do all my other Internet-connected electronics.
Hi Steve my clock automatically changed on my screen, but I also have a clock on my instrument panel. I looked all over for buttons and there aren't any. I have a 2024 toyota corolla Le.
@@JeriBuckner go into the settings as I describe in this video. The time you’re setting that is correct is probably from your phone and is part of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Do the steps in this video and the other clock will change

That was so easy and you're awesome 👍
Hi Steve, I am glad I watched this video, I thought because I have the daylight savings on, it will automatically adjust 😳 😂
You’d think with how advanced these Toyotas are the time would change automatically.
@ right??

@TrainerSteveClifford Thank you very much Steve.
I live in California where I purchased a vehicle so it should stay on no?
a connected vehicle should automatically change the time.
What about the time on the cluster?
@@ronjeremyhyatt3334 this video changes both the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. What model and year car do you have?
