It needs a lot of work, but I'm excited to eventually work on it.

Great find! I vote finding a 312 y-block and plop that blower on top!

I would love to, but the intake would cost more than the car, lol

Donny, I know you love your old cars and this channel is just great
but the anticipation is a killer! Lol.
l hold my breathe every time you look under the hood or whenever you turn that key for each car !
    Such anticipation !
You just never know what you will be getting!.
Will it require too much work ?
Will the purchase be all worth it?
    It's always fingers crossed!
But in this case everything had worked out just fine ! The engine was
    OK !
    Car ran!
And my favorite part was the joy felt when you drove the car home! I loved the view from that car and seeing your neighborhood from your 50s car . Pretty neat. 🥳👍
    Wahoo!

Thank you very much! I hope to do many more! However, upcoming videos will focus on repairing these cars.

Absolutely, when Mercury meant you got something decent instead of a re-badged Ford.

Don't know what is in the gas tank but it is headed for the carb, you can see the filter filling with something!

It was driven there a year ago. I smelled and looked at the fuel beforehand, and it was fine.

I would hate to see what the cylinder walls look like after this dry start up! Blower didn't sound too good either, but some people get lucky, looks like you might be one of the lucky ones!!!

They looked bad because it sat there for a year with rain getting in, including hurricane Ian. I'm amazed that it ran at all.

A blower, but no headers. Just those crappy old cast iron manifolds.

    • @forsakenclassics
      @forsakenclassics  4 місяці тому +1

They're Chevrolet ram horn manifolds. They flow the best out of all stock manifolds back in the day. Remember, 40 years ago, there was no internet to order parts, so hot rodders did what they could with what they had. The blower was added later if I were to guess. I don't know, I didn't build it, but if I did today. I would have bought headers before a supercharger.

You need one of those fluffy things for your mic to kill the wind noise.

Has an aluminum cross-flow radiator and attempt to increase engine bay cool air-- plusses but an early 265 SBC ? iffy...

I bought the car for what's on top of the engine, lol. I do want to get it back on the street, but powered by something else like a tunnel ram or tri power. I may even swap a big block in it. I want the supercharger and intake for a model A I picked up recently, but I won't touch it for a couple of years.

I would have made it about half way and it would have locked up on me!!!!

The engine sat outside for a year with no cover. It's most likely shot, or needs rebuilt. If it died on the way home, I wouldn't have lost any sleep. Thanks for the comment.

im not sure if the engine work is going to be harder than fixing the body or not

Honestly, I'm not looking for a full restoration. I'm going for it'll make it down a dragstrip.

I would love to, but it's been turned into a drag car, and it's really hard to reverse the changes.

It's how someone else built it. I wouldn't do it that way, and I already have a set of buckets for it.
