    A drawstring lining for your bucket bag would keep things from falling out and keep knitting needles from poking through!

      Ohh I hadn’t thought about a drawstring, but that would be great!! I’ll think on that idea!

    I was obsessed with Mary Kate and Ashley growing up, and when you were talking about older twin younger twin personalities I swear that 10 year old fan girl in me started nodding and concurring with that assessment 😂

    Everyone has already suggested a lining but how cute with a wooden toggle button. As you were showing thats what i envisioned. Beautifully done.

    I hacked the cables on the Book Club Cardigan. Happy to send you my chart amends if you let me know where? Also, I recommend you pick up more stitches for sleeves than specified in the pattern. Some people’s sleeves ruckled because there weren’t enough stitches for the depth of the armscye. Bobbles and Berries described the same thing in her most recent podcast. I think she is knitting size 2 and picked up sleeve stitches as for size 4. I haven’t finished the body yet but think I will do the same. Yours is looking beautiful 😍

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the sleeve tip! I’ll add that video from Bobbles and Berries to my queue to watch before I pick up the stitches for those. It’s too late for me, but I’d be so curious how you modified the shoulders if you don’t mind sharing! Our shared email is thosetwinswhoknit@gmail, or I have Instagram for dms at jessljacobs 🤗🤍

    You could make a cotton liner for your Japanese yarn bag and baste it in. Then it can be a project bag for socks.

      I definitely think I'm going to try something like that! The bag is the perfect size for socks! Thanks for the suggestion! :)

    I’m also knitting the Book Club Cardigan with Purl Soho’s Good Wool held with a mohair! One thing I’ve learned from being in the KAL is that you guys might want to pick up stitches for a bigger size when working the sleeves… that’s what lots of us are doing because the sleeves according to the pattern are kinda tiny and feel a bit tight/disproportionate. Obviously you don’t have to do this, but I just thought I would share in case it’s helpful!

    • @bobblesandberries
      @bobblesandberries 2 місяці тому

      Great advice! I ended up going up 3 sizes for the sleeves on mine so they would match the oversized vibe of the body. It’s a matter of preference but definitely something to think about a bit when picking up for the sleeves.

    I just discovered you beautiful ladies about a week ago, so I've been binge watching you from the beginning of your podcasting. I am thoroughly enjoying watching you, and I'm so very impressed about how quickly you knit garments and how beautifully you both knot. Your products look more like high-end store purchases than handmade creations. Looking forward to many more episodes. ❤

    Jessica, put the glass pebbles in the bottom of the pocketbook. Then put a plant in a pot on top of the rocks. The pebbles will keep the bottom of the purse flat. You could put plastic bags around the pot to keep the sides from caving in on the pot. Love your your podcast you both are amazing crafters. Diane from Boston

    I'm a twin and I'm 2 minutes older than my sister. I'm definitely the Type A over-achiever and my sister is more free spirited. I've never considered that until you mentioned that. I should also mention that we are fraternal twins so I guess it's less of a surprise that we are so different.

    Cute sewing projects! You can usually add side seam pockets out of another fabric, since the pocket would not be visible from the outside. Just cut four pieces that have one straight edge to connect to the side seam, a straight top to connect to the waistband, and a long curving side and bottom for the pocket itself.

    You two are so lucky to have each other and to have such a loving and supportive relationship. I am an identical twin and while I thought I had a pretty good relationship with my sister, when it was tested it fell apart in a very big way. We do not speak and she is no longer a part of my life and it has been incredibly difficult to move through this at 60 years old. I love watching you though because you are such a good example of what a healthy twin relationship can look like. P.S. I knew Jessica was older 😉

    I’m with you guys, time for Fall projects! I want to make either another Billie with mohair this time, or the Book club cardigan.
    As for the Maine cable socks- I am finally almost done with mine. I had the same issue with them being too small. I ended up redoing them with a size 1.5US for the cuff and then a sz 2 for the rest of sock. That seemed to work. Now to get past the second gusset syndrome!

    I love watching your happy faces! ❤ I’ve made the Yvonne bag and I don’t think there’s a mistake in the pattern. I ended where she said (only 2 repeats later as I had a tighter gauge) and the instructions for the separate parts worked out fine. I’d recommend doing the straps differently from what the pattern says, though, to get a neater finish. I’d be happy to let you know what I did when you get to that part. I’ve used this bag every day since I made it - since it’s a bit smaller than the pattern size it’s perfect as an everyday handbag. 👌🏻

    I feel like you two would like the gift sock pattern by Ailbíona McLochlainn. It has an integrated heel and it's kind of like a combo of a heelflap and a shortrow heel. I don't think I'm going back.

    I am doing a cabled sweater right now and messed it up somewhere as well! What I ended up doing was the area I made a mistake I slipped those stitches to then make it line up with the correct line of the pattern… not sure if that makes sense or solves your issues!

      @thosetwinswhoknit  2 місяці тому

      That’s such a good idea!! I’m going to think on that and see if I can do the same! Maybe in the area where the pockets go since I think some of those cables will be hidden anyways 🤔 not 100% sure on that though!

    Omg I made the exact same mistake on my Book Club Cardigan!! It’s driving me nuts but I also have no idea how I made that mistake. I think on one of the fronts when I picked up stitches I just accidentally started the cables on the wrong row.
    With the cables on the shoulder there’s a really cool modification someone posted in the KAL chat on instagram. I can send the info / person who did it if you’re interested!

    I made the same mistake on the book club cardigan but on the sleeve since it’s in the round! I thought maybe I didn’t skip a cable row or something but I still can’t find where I made the mistake for the life of me.

    Jessica, I think I may know why your cables have gone awry. Did you stop knitting mid-row at some point, then pick it up and mistakenly knit back across the first half of the row? I ask because I have just frogged back 7 rows in my Book Club for the same reason 😬 I had worked across half of the RS the right front, then put my knitting down and later picked it up and worked back across the WS instead of completing the row. The pattern repeat looked correct but I had effectively added two extra short rows into that portion of the pattern, putting them out of step with the rest. It really became obvious the next time I hit the end of one of the large diamonds, when it looked like I needed to cable on the wrong side to get it to cross at the correct point. Hope yours has sorted itself x

    • @thosetwinswhoknit
      @thosetwinswhoknit  2 місяці тому

      I do! The pattern is a 4 row repeat with two rows being stockinette, so when I get to that part of the pattern I knit one of the stockinette rows, then do a German short row turn and purl back, then continue again in the pattern 😊 I hope this makes sense and helps!
