Schubert wrote a superabundance of music in his brief lifetime, so it's no surprise that a superabundance of recordings has accumulated in the Overflow Room.
"Kintsugi" may be the word you're looking for. The Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold. A very good way to describe the marvelous Berio.
I don't really know much about the recordings of Zacharias, apart from some of his Mozart piano concertos, which I enjoy. Regarding Schubert's piano sonatas, I have the set by Paul Badura-Skoda, which are superb.
@@artistinbeziers7916 I had the original LP box of those many years ago. I loved them and played them over and over again until the grooves were unplayable.
It's really just an allegory of a man "muddying the waters" to catch unsuspecting females. (The trout never speaks, lol.) But I agree, it makes a great variations tune. I'm surprised your dryer doesn't play "How dry I am" at the end of the cycle.
Dave, if you get to any of the early discs in the Hyperion complete Schubert lied edition, could you please check if any have cd rot? (Bronzing) That was a real problem with them.

My first Schubert were Death and the a Maiden and Rosamunde by Endellion string quartet. And that's when I fell in love with Schubert.
As a set the Zacharias sonatas is my favourite. Beautifully played and excellent sound. He is a very underrated pianist.

My clothes dryer played “Die Forelle” when a load was done. Can’t stand that song!

I will. I know there were issues back then. I think I may have dumped the individual releases when I got the big box.
