I'm part of the 3rd group. Been live stacking for several years now. Not used Siril prior but going to give it a try now, thanks

Keep in mind it's still in the very early stages still, so not as robust as you may be accustomed to.

hello, which is the name of the final photo that contains the all stacked frames?
after I complete live stacking and stop it, Siril show my the initial file name.

A basic question. I am using a dedicated astro camera, ZWO 533. How do I connect this camera to Siril and save files in a designated Live folder on my PC? Really appreciate your tutorial videos using Siril!

You don't connect the camera to Siril. You set your working directory in Siril to the folder where your acquisition software saves your images.

Nice overview of the new features two other programs that do live stacking are ASTAP and ASI studio. Id like to see histogram curves and levels adjustments added.

Thanks. Yeah Sharp Cap does as well. This is a very early release of the feature. I'm sure it'll only get better

Looking forward Richard to when Siril will add gradient removal. Also hopefully it would soon be possible to round out the stars in EAA real time in much the same way as does Sharpcap using the Weiner correction I think it’s called. I know one thing for sure that the Siril developers are certainly working very hard…thank you Siril🔭❤️

Thanks for the video! Is there a way to plot a noise graph?

Not that I know of with the Live Stacking.

When I was starting out with Siril a few months ago I hovered over this live stacking button and I misread it as _"Start livestreaming session"_ and I thought it a kind of weird feature to implement, but I just shrugged it off as something that people might do to stream their editing session to UA-cam or something!
I feel like an idiot now! 🤣

Haha. I don't need anyone to watch me live while I'm processing. 😂

hello, very good video!. What does the 'noise' number in the live stacking means, do you know what are good values? and for what it is useful?. Thank you!!

    • @DeepSpaceAstro

It's a measure of estimated noise in image background level. It's just informational right now and I don't know if they'll use it for anything else in future releases. Being that this is still in the experimental stage, I'd expect more functionality down the road.

Given that I'm not much for Windows (mostly linux & OSX), I was hopeful when I saw the live stacking feature added. Sometimes I like to have a live stack running as images accumulate during a session. Currently I do this with Sharpcap running on my Astro computer (alongside N.I.N.A.). Having something (like Siril) running inside on a linux or OSX box on the images as they arrive to the server via robocopy would be much nice. I did try it when the beta arrived but am disappointed with the initial implementation. First and foremost it makes a mess of the directory where the files arrive plus chews up a lot of storage there. Secondly (as you point out) it does not take into account files already present (hopefully they'll add this later, perhaps as an option). Third it looked to me like it considers files new if the time stamp on a file is later than when Siril started (as opposed to being new to the directory). I am sure this will improve but at the moment it is not there yet.

Still good points. Keep in mind they tagged it as experimental so don't expect too much

Can this be done over a network shared folder?

    • @DeepSpaceAstro
      @DeepSpaceAstro  6 місяців тому +1

I don't see why it wouldn't, but have never tried. Keep in mind this feature is still experimental even in the latest version of Siril 1.2.1
