Exactly. When you are standing some damn where feeling and looking out of place. It's a very bad feeling and very bad thing. I stick out like a sore thumb and my jokes don't land. I am thinking in such a frantic manner I lose my train of thought in middle of f ING sentences. It's definitely not what I want to lean further into and be proud of. I want to improve and find relief.

The first phrase is unnecessary to avoid disappointment. It has no relation with it.

You can cut off 100% expectations but you shouldn't. Cause if you do then u will have a dull life and will be vulnerable to depression. It's a delicate balance between many things and this balance is dynamic. You need to keep adjusting. It's Yin and Yang. I call it "Life is complex".
I've been there, done that
I am a socially awkward, introvert, with litteraly zero social skills, diagnosed with ADHD, and I find it very painful to live in this world, it's not fun at all. Now, as a mother, it breaks my heart to see that my little daughter has the same personnality and same struggles as me. She's also ADHD, she can't make any friends, she feels awkward and feels that no one understand her. She's only 5 :(

I’m not usually socially awkward but then social anxiety hits me :( people sometimes avoid talking to me and i felt depressed sometimes

@@metalwildroses2866 this happened to me the starting of 9th grade which is this year. It was hell. I cried every time i got home i feel like people hate me and things like that. I recommend you to do some exercises and practice to control the way you breath if u get nervous. I hope this helps cuz it helped me to reduce my anxiety this month and also practice some small talks🤍

For me, it’s how the person looks at me. If they’re looking at me normally or with kind eyes, I’m fine with making eye contact. But if they’re staring me down or have a weird look on their face, that’s when I get really awkward.
I simply can’t look into peoples eyes unless I’ve known them for years and years

yeah i understand. whenever im with a group of people, somehow no one is interested in talking to me. they talk amongst themselves and pretty much ignore me. people around me probably think that I don't talk because im just not into that but that's not it. i really DO want to talk with some people but I can't because the fear of being awkward (because i AM always awkward) is always there. it feels lonely.

I’m not reallly close to anyone in my school, I have some classmates but I never talk much and just stand there awkwardly and glancing at them talking at each other, sometimes one of them would say to add me more in conversations and I feel like if I keep on being so quiet and introverted they will start to think I’m boring, and forget me in things and lose interest in me. But I can’t help being myself and stay silent while being lonely :(

During my internship in college, I was grouped with introverted people like myself (1 or 2 of them out of 10 were probably extroverted). We generally agreed we were the the most awkward group out there hahaha. We called ourselves group awkward but we vibe with that, you know? We may be awkward but we understand each other that's why we just laugh it off and generally enjoy each other. Fun times 😆

Sometimes I let the phone ring to silence because I'm not in the mood to talk but I don't want to tell the person out of fear of hurting their feelings or making them self-conscious or angry ( same for texts sometimes)
There's nothing wrong with being socially awkward. Whether you recognize your social awkwardness or not, it generally isn't bad or harmful, unless it bothers you or keeps you from doing things you want to do. But if you feel like you're doing just fine, don't feel pressured to change.👍

I’ve stuttered for as long as I’ve been able to talk. Sometimes it’s more mellow but sometimes it’s very noticeable. And it’s gotten to the point where I’m almost terrified to start conversations or my heart starts racing when I know I have to talk to someone I don’t know for any reason. This video definitely resonates with me and did provide some good pointers.

As someone who is socially awkward, yes we hate phone calls, if I'm doing texting I can do just fine, but yesterday my friend said he wanted to talk to me through phone and the conversation lasted only like 7 minutes.

Another instant like from me. I know what it feels to be awkward. I can handle calls if it's my friends or even my gf. I think awkwardness somewhat overshadows anxiety. I can be funny but it doesn't always work. Eye contact is something I still have issues with. I hardly know the right words and when I do, there are few times I get flustered trying to get the words out.

I'm 100% socially awkward. I couldn't accept this when I was younger. But as I've grown more matured now, all I can say is being socially awkward are insane! Recently I attended a colleague training, there's 5 tables, each have 4 person. I was the only person sitting on 1 of the table. No problem for me. But what angered me was that my boss got empathy on me & he was like "can someone sit next to him please?" Goddamnit dude that just messed up my day. Why he had to point this out🤣 He must've thought that everyone wants to be around other people.
God, these middle school dynamics among adults is ridiculous. What transpired is a bullying technique and completely inappropriate at the workplace. And the boss calling it out is just as bad.

I hate it when my parents tell me to go and talk to someone when I am at an event. Whenever I do I mumble words, my hands start sweating, and my heart beats really fast. Then once it is over I worry that they won’t like me anymore after the interaction.

the eye contact is the most annoying, people think you don't like/respect them and think that you are lying/hide mistake when you don't keep eye contact, honestly, it's just really weird and uncomfortable to keep eye contact for too long
I am socially awkward and i have social anxiety whenever the teacher asks me to answer a question i get nervous and start to blush and my heart rate increases i cant even socialize properly
I don't have social anxiety, I'm socially awkward. There's a difference. I'll almost always be reluctant to being in big gatherings like birthdays where I hardly know anyone, but when it's something important, I suck it up and fake confidence.

I feel like that comes down to extreme mental symptoms ie getting super stressed or wanting to pass out or physical symptoms. If being in social situations makes you sweat bullets every time or stutter so bad you can't be understood (or have other symptoms) I'd say it's anxiety otherwise it's probably just awkwardness.

I have a question, my friend is socially awkward. And I really want to help them feel more comfortable in social situations. I tried to form a dnd party with them and a few other friends. Then comes “phone calls” another horror of mine that I’m trying to tackle, but it’s so frustrating when my brain stops listening to the person on the other side and I try to cover that up so I sound soooooo awkward and sometimes boring too.
