    Your content has been so informative. I feel like a fish out of water but watching this has helped me with my confidence as a new trainer. I do have a question about the dress code though. I'm so use to dressing very formal to interviews due to my background being business/customer service industry. Is it really ok to come dressed down? I mean should I come ready to workout as if I were a current trainer at the facility?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  2 роки тому +2

      I’d say it’s way better to overdress than underdress. If you’re more comfortable going to an interview in more normal interview clothing than that won’t hurt your odds of getting a job.
      I’d say nice business casual is almost always enough for trainers though. You’ll probably be wearing mostly comfortable/less fancy stuff on the job so it’s not as big of a deal with training.

    Would you have pre-screening questionnaires for them? To make sure they are physically ready to workout? And or basic assessments? Or would you just save that for a real deal client?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  Рік тому +3

      This video is for preparing a trainer for a job interview in a gym, so I wouldn’t have them prepare for any assessments or anything. Those are the sorts of things that you would do with a client during the assessment or initial consultation.

    Thanks for the helpful tips! I have a question about the PAR-Q. If someone answers yes to any of the questions and needs to get permission to exercise from their doctor, do you have them sign again saying they did that in order for you (the personal trainer) to become less liable if something were to happen? If so, where do they sign? Thanks!

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  3 роки тому +2

      I don’t have them sign anything again. I just make sure I get a copy of the note from the doctor. Usually, that’s by email so it pretty easy.

    • @devinmcnamara5025
      @devinmcnamara5025 3 роки тому +1

      @@SortaHealthyTrainerEducation Great, thanks. But from a legal perspective, do you need to obtain that doctors note in order to train them? Or does them signing the PAR-Q inform them that they are supposed to talk to the doctor before they workout?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  3 роки тому +1

      You should definitely get a copy of that note from the doctor for legal reasons if they mark “yes” anywhere on the PARQ.

    I'm a guy with long hair, and I would wear it tied up during an interview. Will this hurt my appearance, even if I'm clean cut and well dressed?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation

      Nah that shouldn’t hurt your chances at all! Being clean cut and professional is what matters. No reasonable person should care if your hair is long or short

    How do I get to ask shadow a trainer when I don't work there?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  Рік тому

      Contact some places you might be interested in working and tell them that you’re a new trainer trying to shadow at a few different places for some knowledge on different training. Ask if they’d be willing to allow you to shadow for a few hours to see if it might potentially be a good fit for you to apply to one day/if the style of training they provide is right for you.

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation

    I just got my certification a month ago & haven't applied to any jobs yet because I get really anxious with interviews and my communication becomes bad. Do you have any extra tips that could help me out?

    • @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation
      @SortaHealthyTrainerEducation  8 місяців тому

      Honestly, all I can say that wasn’t said in the video is that practice makes perfect. You get better at interviews by doing them.
      Also, it’s hard to think this way sometimes, but so what if you don’t get the job? I get it, we all need to work, but if you don’t get a specific job, it’s usually not too big of a deal. Don’t put extra stress on yourself going into the interview. Be prepared, but still yourself, and remember if you don’t get the particular job, you’ll still be ok. You’ll get one at some point.

    What does personal training have to do with pyramid schemes? If I am apart of a network marketing business you wouldn’t hire me? I’ve met network mar professional that more polished than the average. Just saying!
    Also, there are great private label products out there that is only exposed through network marketing. Maybe different wording, more elaboration regarding conflict of interest expectations is a better way to communicate. This video is money outside of the philosophy segment.
