    I just responded "iam glad there are quiet people like me .. imagine a world where everyone is as loud as you. It would be super annoying dont you think?"
    She was really shocked and never tried anything like this again.
    Just turn the thing around ..i mean whats this stupid question anyway ?

    • @MaddieSchnitzel
      @MaddieSchnitzel 2 роки тому +67

      Yes, that question is super rude. Being extrovert does not allow one to be impolite. People should weigh their words. I have noticed some extroverts talk so much they don't even process their thoughts which makes them say random things that happen to be rude and they dont even notice. And then there are some who think they dominate the group with their "smart talk" and start feeling overconfident and become rude on purpose.
      An introvert might want to respond with accusing them of being impolite.
      You destroyed that witch perfectly. 👌 People like her just like to bully the quiet individuals. They feel superior while making others feel inferior. That's toxic.

    • @kenz2756
      @kenz2756 2 роки тому +15

      @@MaddieSchnitzel I'm an introvert, but It's usually the other way around, being introvert does not excuse being an asshole. When people speak, most of the time it is to reach out an connect with you, and that's good intent. They're not trying to be invasive.
      It's also common sense that when you ignore people, it's a gesture you dislike them, so obviously they feel something's off. Yes they might ask someone why they're quiet, but it depend son context what the intent is. I mean unless you're insecure of being quiet, there are so many ways to tell people you're quiet genuinely, might even make a new friend that way.
      I hate that it's a trend for introverts to be angsty and blame the other ones for talking. That is just not how society works, or games, or movies, or media, or any form entertainment. Life's full of interaction whether we like it or not. And even when someone doesn't like real life interaction they still involve themselves to other ones that has it, like movies.

      @@kenz2756 You’re not obligated to say anything to anyone if you don’t feel comfortable. There’s nothing wrong with not wanting to talk to someone. That doesn’t necessarily mean you should push people away, specifically those that want to help you or genuinely want to connect with you. But if you don’t feel like talking to someone, it’s not rude to let them know you don’t feel like talking or you would rather be alone.

    • @kenz2756
      @kenz2756 2 роки тому

      @@Mattyboy-dn4oo Thing is when you ignore people you give the impression you dislike them, they're doing something wrong, or you've got an issue, like being constipated. I would assume the question comes out naturally, I mean, people are trying to reach out, you're right, and this confuses people.

    • @Mattyboy-dn4oo
      @Mattyboy-dn4oo 2 роки тому +22

      @@kenz2756 Ignoring? That’s confusing considering that your giving someone your attention by telling them that you would rather be by yourself. It isn’t being dismissive. You’re letting them know how you feel and establishing a boundary at that point in time. If you genuinely care about said person, then you would respect their right to want to have their privacy. That doesn’t mean they hate you.
      I understand that a majority of people that ask this question are trying to reach out and be friendly, but the reason why this question is annoying for some introverts is because it gives the impression that something is wrong with them. They want to spend some time alone. They may be focused on something else. To them, being alone in their thoughts, ideas, hobbies, etc is their idea of normalcy. Or they may feel insecure about speaking out or afraid that they may not be heard or say the wrong thing. They also may just not have anything to say and don’t feel obligated to talk. So when you ask a sensitive question like this, it can pressure someone into feeling like their quiet nature is a problem. That it’s something that is hurting others. It feels like their under a microscope and they of course don’t want to explain away their insecurities so they tense up. It’s a judging question and it’s not really a good way to start a conversation with someone.
      You could instead say “You seem a little quiet today. What’s on your mind?” or invite them to join in what your doing. You could even compliment them like if they’re wearing a cool shirt with a character you could say “Hey that’s a cool shirt man!” That could encourage them to open up more, especially if it pertains to a certain interest. Introverts are generally sensitive so when you come towards them with a question like “Why are you so….” that can actually cause them to do the opposite and be even more reluctant to open up. They can make their feelings known without being rude or dismissive but I believe that was the intent of this video. As pure as your intentions may be, this question can be considered insensitive to some people and I think their are better ways to reach out to others without addressing their quiet nature. Especially if it’s someone you’ve never talked to.
      (sorry for the long reply, but I think more people need to understand it from the perspective of the person getting asked and not just assume that we’re being “rude” or “there’s something wrong with us” those hurt just as much)

Then getting a little desperate, hoping pls don't let anyone speak to me; especially not the guy staring...why oh why did I wear this blouse that creates cleavage...how to I get rid of my boobs. Next time stay home.

      If you talk, you talk. I say screw what the other people say. I'm a huge introvert myself with pretty bad social anxiety... and it's because of the same things you faced friend...
      I did end up getting a girlfriend whom I love and she helps me get out of my bubble occasionally and I know I can always confide in her... man I've told her a lot of my deepest secrets and dreams and desires... 👀
      Uh where was I going with this..? Oh yeah! It's all about being assertive. I'm 17 years old at the moment and becoming assertive is my goal. Don't be like me and rush it... Ease into it. Enter a conversation in a good mood, don't hold onto your thoughts and opinions, say them even if you think everyone won't agree..
      Most importantly, don't trust everything your brain tells you. I'm an overthinker and a big one at that. My overthinking thoughts are usually bad for the most part...I can't tell you the amount of times I had to get reassurance from my girlfriend that she won't leave me for one of my friends or another guy (We hadn't spent much time together at that point because of exams.. but the idea was still there.. Even though I knew why we couldn't see each other) and the worst part is I know these are fake ideas and I try to replace them with good thoughts of things that actually happened and it makes me feel better.
      I also do other things to keep my mind focused on something productive. Baking, breaking, fixing, cleaning or even just listening to music and analyzing the words and or beats and rhythm. Small things make a huge difference. I also do my projects bit by bit and let me tell you, the satisfaction of having it actually complete by the time I have to hand it in... PURE BLISS.
      As you can see I rambled and just typed too much. Sorry for that lol. I didn't give my full advice or half of it... but let me stop now... Again, sorry for the wall of text

    As this type of quiet introvert, I still really don't understand what is so weird and why does it look so abnormal to other people. Like, is it really that bad from an outsider point of view? How is my silence interfering with your normal way of living life?
    I'm still not used to answering that question. Starting with my mother ever since I can remember and then many other people from then now, I just wanna know: why is that even a question? XD Like I don't understand what they don't understand and why do they find me being quiet as being something abnormal or something standing in the way of their tranquility. On the contrary, it should even make their lives less complicated, I'm not standing in the way, so what's the problem?
    But I guess the answer lies in this: only the people for which their own silence would mean that there is something wrong with them or in their life, would be asking you 'why are you so quiet?' 'Cause they think you're like them and being quiet has to mean there's something wrong with you, by their flawed logic.
    When being quiet can also mean you're perfectly comfortable with your own persona and this is how you manifest it. And then when those kind of people ask you these types of questions and you turn into a ball of anxiousness precisely because of them. And then they think you're finally ok because you seem more animated, when in fact they don't realize they have caused an imbalanced state in your life in those moments.

      Some people dont like silence as it makes them uncomfortable. It scares them. "Silence screams the truth" - that's what I once heard. Some people are unable to be alone with themselves. They need contant outside impulses in form of company of other people. That's actually sad. It seems they can't handle things on their own. I wonder sometimes if they ever have time to reflect on things.
      Now im an ambivert, which is a mix of both extra and intro, but people who are loud all the time are exhausting. They always have a need to say something even if it's something stupid and unnecessary.
      Some of them are cowards who need constant distractions to deflect the uncomfortable subconcious thoughts they might have.

Like, that's what we are there for, be quiet and listen and answer. They always thought I was stuck up, mean, a biat@#, etc. Never understood why some people just disliked me so as I hardly ever said anything to anyone, let alone get in the way.
