I’m 74. Learned to sew in high school - a lifetime ago! Made my clothes because I was a perfect pattern size. As yrs passed I no longer was a perfect pattern size, so I gave up sewing clothes and went to quilting and home dec projects. This was fun to watch and remember those days. I should take a course in pattern adjusting. I do have a new serger so it was nice to see your instructions on using the serger. Thanks for all of your tutorials. I enjoy them very much.
I like that you "walk a person through" a real actual pattern. So that if I buy that same one, I can save and refer to your video again later! So thanks!! Never ever had that option like 20 years ago! :-)
That shirt caught my eye on the video you posted today so was happy to find this one on how to make it. The New Look pattern number has changed to N6555, I just ordered it today from the Simplicity site. Also I read New Look patterns are being discontinued, sorry to hear that, they were the most affordable ones.
Thanks for this video. Even though I have been sewing for a long time I enjoyed the refreshal hints. You are a great teacher! Did you teach as a vocation?
I was a physical education teacher before I retired. I found retirement boring, and decided to teach sewing on UA-cam. I learned how to sew at age 12. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Sheryl. Greetings from southern New Hampshire! I love your videos. You explain everything so well. Have you ever made clothing without a premade pattern? I have been wanting to try to make light simple nightgowns for summer. Do you have suggestions? Thanks again. I look forward to your next video!
I have a few tutorials on how to make simple clothing patterns. Click on this link: ua-cam.com/video/9uVxOwwYdDw/v-deo.html This tutorial might help you on how to draw very basic patterns. ua-cam.com/video/9uVxOwwYdDw/v-deo.html
I noted that when marking the notches and dots the top dot is larger than the small dot. When marking the large dot, it appeared that you marked from the top of the dot. (The top of the dot is on the seam side. )I have always marked this dot from the center of the dot. All of the dots should be within the seam line and the edge of your garment. If the large dot is not in the same places on the front and back side of your garment. You might have cut the pieces at the top longer than the your measurements. Did I see the location of the dot from the edge incorrectly? Or did this guideline change in the twenty years since I have cut fabric?
Great tip on how to tackle the collar without the extra bulk! I think if I was attempting this one, I'd hand tack the collar down with an invisible stitch rather than trying to machine stitch it down. Hand seaming it would also let you make minute corrections to fabric placement as you went which is helpful on fiddlier seams.
Sherrill, you have such an organized mind!! I love watching your channel. I am going to make this because you give me such confidence to try it! I like the serge look on the fabric but I don't know what the accessory looks like. Do you have a tutorial on serging?

Hi Connie. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

Thank you so much for the information. I usually mark the dots and/or notches close to the raw edge. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

I will have a serger sewing machine tutorial out this summer. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I do not have a serger.
Hi Connie. You can use zigzag stitch to bind the raw edges. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
