I picked up some New Look at Hobby Lobby on clearance. I am just getting started, but I am excited to see how things go for you. I just recently found your channel.
I’m glad you were able to find New Look patterns in person! I’m going to be making a video about sewing 6263 next week, if that happens to be one you bought.
Thank you! Thank you! Toni, I am really excited to do the New Look 6263 sew along with you. I was initially recommended this pattern from Fabric Frenzy on the Gold Coast. I also have some of the other New Look patterns that you have shown today. I too don't buy patterns without bust darts. They provide a better fit on the finished garment. Looking forward to sewing with you, Cheers Alison
Hi Toni, I am enjoying your channel more and more, especially when you mention sewing for the Texas climate. I am in Alvarado, just south of Fort Worth and have been struggling with connecting with other garment sewers here since tge focus seems to be on quilting. Have you ever thought of arranging a meet-up with other youtube garment sewers from Texas like Angel from Ithinkicansewit or Sharon from Sharon Sews? You seem to have the energy to make it happen. Also, your Grandma is just as much fun as you are. Very sincerely, J
Thanks for your comment Jane. Thankfully the Texas weather is always changing so it provides lots of opportunities to wear summer clothes year ‘round 🤣 thanks for the suggestion about getting together with other Texas sewing UA-camrs! I’m actually not familiar with the ones you suggested so I’ll check them out!
I love New Look patterns! They have nice styles and a good price. One of my favorites is 6597. I’ve made the tank and short sleeve versions many times. In fact, I was at Joanne’s this morning buying a new spring brushed knit to make the short sleeve version. I can make it up quickly and it has a nice drape to it. Enjoyed looking at your pattern haul!
New look patterns are easy to get here (Britain) but can be expensive, I have loads I have not tried yet and I am so pleased that several of the ones I have you showed in your haul, can’t wait to sew along.
Yay! I’m so happy you are looking forward to my upcoming makes ☺️ I wasn’t sure how many people used New Look patterns when I decided to make the video.
I recently got back into sewing because I got tired of not finding clothing in stores that fit me. Or the stores have stopped carrying as much in the stores because everyone buys more online. I'd recommend the viking how to sewing dictionary if you need a visual step by step how to. Considering it's been a couple decades since I have made my own cloths I'm a bit rusty.
I can’t find anything I love enough to justify spending the money at stores. Plus the quality of fabric and garment construction has declined since the pandemic. I’d much rather buy fabric I love and sew it myself so I know it will last. Welcome back to sewing ❤️
Thank you for this great review! I am just beginning my sewing journey and it's helpful to know about patterns. I really like pattern 6687. Really hoping to sew along with you!
6688 will definitely happen. I’m always in need of a chic knit outfit! I’m excited to be part of your sewing journey-please let me know if you have any questions or need help ☺️
Hi the last two pattern you show they look like Vogue patterns they were very easy to me to sew Vogue patterns that's what I used to make some of my clothes
I am fortunate to have a metal simplicity pattern cabinet that I got when my local fabric store closed. But I also use cardboard pattern boxes as well.
Hi Toni! Our Hobby Lobby has outdated NL patterns. They are nice, but the size range usually are not inclusive to my size! You picked up some fabulous patterns!❤
I didn’t actually realize the size range was so limited that until I ordered them and there was only one drop down size option. Thanks for watching! I’m looking forward to trying out some new patterns.
It’s the same type of neoprene fabric, which is a type of double knit, that’s actually called scuba and is used for scuba suits. It’s a thicker and more stable than knits used for dresses and athleisure. At my local Joann’s it’s in the interior/decor fabric section.
@@SewSewLounge thank you so so much! Makes sense. I just made a half zip knit top that I’ve heard referred to as a “scuba” top. The fabric I bought (can’t remember where) was billed as French terry but it’s really not-it’s fuzzy, not loopy, on the inside. I’m stuck at the bottom band-the fabric itself does not have enough stretch, so until I dredge up the correct ribbing I’m at an impasse. For the sleeve cuffs I took some from someone’s old long johns and they worked great! Thanks for posting, reading and responding!
@@pleasebekind9115 you are very welcome! I haven’t used scuba fabric yet. The biggest challenge with it seems to be permanent creases in the fabric when you get it from improper handling. The fabric at Joann’s looks and feels very nice but for that damage. Good luck finishing your half zip knit top ❤️
The dress you chose to do a sew-a-long with has bow options in the front. Bows are trendy this year. I have a few New Look patterns too and really like the styles it features. Unfortunately, my Jo-ann in Southern CA doesn't carry this brand. Since the fall of 2023 it hasn't sold the new collections (Winter, Spring 2023/2024) of the Big 4 patterns either. I think it must be due to the massive inflation/ bad economy we are all in.
My experience is that New Look's idea of "easy" is sometimes just a lie. 😂 I bought one marked easy and it had no less than TWELVE pieces in the lined bodice alone! A lot like Vogue's idea of easy.
@@TamSews2 I’m sorry to hear that! It’s so frustrating when the “instructions” don’t help with sewing the pattern. I will figure it out and share how I sew it 😉
I already have new look 6263 in my stash so I would enjoy
watching a sew along.
Excellent! A lot of my viewers have that pattern so a sew along will be lots of fun.
I've bought them for YEARS ! I LOVE them !
I’m looking forward to using them!

Yes! I started seeing a bunch of 99¢ pattern haul videos for New Look at Hobby Lobby, so hit them up and picked up 30 patterns.
@@lisazimmerman5622 that’s is an EXCELLENT pattern haul! Glad that you found so many great patterns ❤️
I can’t wait for the sew along! It looks like a really fun pattern.
It should be fun. I’m looking forward to it too!

I like the one I’ve sewn and looking forward to sewing more!
Suggestion: leave the pattern in the upper right corner throughout your talk about the pattern. Thanks for your presentation!
I will do that next time! Thanks for the suggestion ☺️

I love 6298! Love a cute knit sweater dress with v-neck and pockets :)
I love that you’re catching up on my videos 😻
Ive really enjoyed this! So many of these patterns look like the NewLook ones that I sewed during the 60’s!
Thanks for watching! I thought some of them had a 60s feel to them. But then again, they are classic styles that will always look great ☺️
And you know I love a maxi knit dress!
I know you do. It’s the ultimate travel dress 😉

I've made 6298 a few times from sweater knits, cotton knit and ponte knits.
Good to know a variety of knits can be used. Thanks for sharing ☺️

6263 that started it all, I made in the 60’s in the 8th grade neck band is not difficult
If you were sewing in the 8th grade, you probably had a good teacher. If only we could all be so lucky!
Hi the last two pattern you show they look like Vogue patterns they were very easy to me to sew Vogue patterns that's what I used to make some of my clothes
Very interesting. Can you share the vogue pattern numbers? I’d like to compare the patterns and instructions ☺️
I like the raglan pattern, but is that only for knits?
I have the check as I’m not sure which pattern you’re referring to.
Just recently watch your video with your pattern haul. I am wondering if you have any good suggestions for storing a lot of patterns.
I am fortunate to have a metal simplicity pattern cabinet that I got when my local fabric store closed. But I also use cardboard pattern boxes as well.
Hi so did you give away ur extra patterns? If not I’d like to take one from your hands please let me know.❤
I still have one left that went unclaimed. If you want it send me an email 😉
View b of 6524 looks like that popular Liberty Fabrics dress all the UK sewists are making…
I will have to look for that! Thanks for letting me know ☺️

You referred to “scuba” I think on the last pattern-can you clarify what kind of fabric that is please? Thanks!

I've never heard of New Look. Is it another brand or a division of a brand, like Simplicity?
Apparently it’s a division of Simplicity per the discussion on the livestream yesterday.
The dress you chose to do a sew-a-long with has bow options in the front. Bows are trendy this year. I have a few New Look patterns too and really like the styles it features. I probably won’t make my version with a bow, since I’ve never been a fan. Probably because I was forced to wear bows when I was little 🤣
Omg I just bought a bunch of patters for 99 cents each at hobby lobby and they’re almost $7 😅
Woo-hoo! You are winning 🎉
My experience is that New Look's idea of "easy" is sometimes just a lie. 😂 I bought one marked easy and it had no less than TWELVE pieces in the lined bodice alone! A lot like Vogue's idea of easy.
🤣🤣🤣 that’s just crazy. 12 pattern pieces is what I’d expect from an “easy” Vogue pattern, but not New Look!
That’s true about some of the New Look patterns. I personally don’t buy them much because they will say easy and they are not.
Thought New Look was going out of business?
All of the new look patterns are available at simplicity.com. I can’t ever find the one I want in stores so not sure what’s going on there.
6740 has terrible instructions.
Good to know! Thanks.
@@SewSewLounge you are welcome. I was a little disappointed, because it’s a pretty dress.
