To tell you the truth, after a couple years of buying a few different handhelds and learning how to do it, I spend more time editing, modding and tweaking my library of games than playing them 🤣. It is a very sweet drug
I was given this Miyoo Mini as my first emulator device and it’s so much fun, takes some getting used to setting everything up. Certain DS games run well on it too. Great video!
So excited for you to jump into the emulation game scene!! For GBA, I highly recommend any pokemon games, Legend of Zelda Minish Cap, Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past, Fire Emblem, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, Super Mario World 2, Yoshi's Island... The list goes OOOON :)
Wow, you have such a beautiful, loving charisma 🙂 A friend and I bought the Miyoo Mini Plus for a mutual friend for his birthday in October. I'm sure he'll be delighted 😁 I ordered the Anbernic RG 40XXV myself. I'm already excited 🙂 Greetings from Germany
I started with the original Miyoo Mini and now I have like 6 different emulation handhelds somehow lol. The plus is even better than the original (try out retroachievements so you get achievements while playing your retro games as a sort of fun aside)! Have fun with the hobby! Also, a tip, I recommend buying your own sd card to use for the system rather than the stock one because they tend to fail. But if the company did that for you, then you're all set.
My first emulator was the Anbernic 35XX. LOVE IT. Currently playing Pokémon Yellow and FF3. Got a Mini HDMI to HDMI cable so I can play on my PC monitor
I love my Miyoo Mini +! I have a custom Hello Kitty theme and it plays custom music when you're on the home screen, too. Plays everything I want, retro wise, and is my main retro handheld. I have a modded 3DS too, but that is strictly my DS/3DS system. I did the modding of my MM+ myself, but it's nice to hear companies do it for people now!
Ahhh, the Miyoo Mini +. Pure dopamine in pocketable form. Onion OS is just so well done. I ended up taking a day and a half and making my own theme using my own artwork and some from other low-brow artists I'm a fan of. It's a completely unique device now and just makes it even more fun. There is a whole history of video games on your SD card. It'll take you a long time to look at every game on it! Enjoy! Oh, if you have never played Chrono Trigger, it's under the SNES directory. I replayed it last year and it's still one of the best RPGs ever made. I was surprised at how well it still holds up. Still some of my favorite characters in any RPG, and I've played a lot in my 43 years of playing video games.
This is pretty much the only retro emulator anyone really needs. We have 2 of them, one with onion OS, and one running the default OS. Both work just fine, but Onion is definitely the way to go.
Very good choice for your first emulation handheld. This is awesome to just throw in my bag to keep with me as I'm out of the house and need it for short bursts like during a break at work.
I really appreciate the chill casual experience share. I really just wanna know the real life practical experience and you kinds got it. Like a tech Mukbang lol
I got the grey one. Been looking for a good emu device. This will do me well when my restless legs keep me up at night. And dang girl your code gave me 10 dollars off THANK YOU!!
@@Zodarusmine was shipped pretty fast because they reached out to me directly :) and then I want to say it arrived in like a week, I’m not sure how their normal shipping time is though…
These emulation handhelds are really giving my cherished softmodded New 3DSXL a run for its money. The screen on the Miyoo looks absolutely amazing and the game selection it seems to support covers pretty much anything a New 3DS XL can accomplish, it's kind of insane. How are the buttons though? Buttons have always been a strong suit with pretty much any OEM controller from my experience and just makes the gameplay that much more enjoyable on original hardware.
@@HDGamerofficial Definitely a good point, DS games would probably be very feasible but probably not 3DS games. At the price point of 3DS's these days, a retro emulation handheld could be more cost effective than modding OEM hardware depending on what you'd want to emulate.
@@HDGamerofficial for games that dont rely on touch screen this can play them no problem, the list is shorter than larger but at least 100 games, but for ds and 3ds just use a 3ds yes xD
I've watched so many reviews on this and this is the only one that actually hits. I don't need to know all the technical specs that all the others give. I just need to know the feel.
The Anbernic rg35xx SP and H look really interesting to me lately for the price points and easy user interface, battery life, quick sleep mode/ game system recovery from off to on, and form factor. The "H" version is more preferable for N64 ❤
Have fun with it. Reminds me of when I had my original Game Boy which was stolen in high school way back in 1996. 😢 Also, always amazes me that rando companies can just use other companies IPs and sell as a package in a fake Game Boy. Keep up making vids. Always nice to watch your content.
Even if you lose power on the device the progress you've made in those games is safe. It's basically taking a snapshot (a state) every time you leave/switch the game. Don't treat this as a real save though; you still want to save "in-game", like using whatever system for saving the game offers you. In relation to the "buzzer", that's a rumble motor, and it can actually be utilized in certain games that support rumble! For example, Drill Dozer for the GBA and Pokemon Pinball for the GBC. You do have to go into the RetroArch menu and turn the rumble on but it does work! There's even new patches being made for games like Legend of the River King 2 for the GBC to enable rumble when emulated.
Heyo, been watching u for a bit and i just wanted to say that you are always welcome on the retro handhelds discord! that goes for anyone reading this as well!
"It's not super heavy - it's not super light" - I weighed mine when I got it to double-check against the specs and it was around 6.4 ounces. For reference the old Game Boy SP was slightly less than that at around 5 oz. In the hands it feels lighter than you would expect. I have smallish hands but it's very comfortable for me.
I’ve got a similar one but it has thumb stick aswell and emulates up to ps1. The cool thing about these emulation devices is that they have all the old arcade games on that was never ported to console. I got mine from AliExpress. There really good just to have at the side of your bed or when travelling👍🏻😎🍺.
Loved the video, been an emulation fan for years, one of the best handhelds if you wanted to be able to play up to Gamecube and PS2 games look into an Odin 2 Mini. It's definitely inspired by the PS Vita but I feel like its close enough to a PS Vita 2.. I have both versions of the Odin 2, the Max and Mini. Both have the same chip just different form factor
The Miyoo Mini + is a nice handheld. I got a white one awhile back, and I love it. However, I JUST got and Anbernic 35xxSP today (the clamshell one) and I LOVE it. Enjoy cutie!!
I’m sure you already have, but to everyone else. Make sure to backup the SD card on your computer. Those no name SD cards don’t have the best reliability. Also I love my Miyoo Mini Plus as well!
if the SD card is not branded (SanDisk, Samsung, etc) then buy one of the same capacity and copy the files to the new branded card. The unbranded cards die after a few uses
This is very interesting! Congrats on getting a product sent to you! That’s a pretty big deal in my opinion 👏👏👏 Im not personally into purchasing an emulation handheld cuz I have so many devices that can emulate stuff, and I prefer to play the physical copy of older games on intended hardware (if possible) more often than not, but this little thing looks intriguing! The screen especially looks impressive, is it an Oled display? Ever since my Switch Oled I’ve been a sucker for those gorgeous screens and want every device to have one 😂😅 9:38 that edit was hilarious btw
for battery life i advice turning off wifi , playing with earbuds and screen on 3/10 brightness or less if you are indoors, the wifi and screen sucks up a LOT of battery, with those settings i get more or less 6hs of gameplay
