    Awesome plane! And kudos to him for doing entire walk around in a non-primary language.

    Which plane manufacturer thinks about ski transportation?! This is not a plane, this is pilots heaven. So many thoughts put into this, so many details, that it is insane. This plane just has everything you can think of and plenty what you wouldn't even dare to want int the plane! There is no other plane which offer what this plane does. It is always about doing compromises in what you need the most and what you have to sacrifice. But NOT with this plane. I can't wait to test fly this by my self and to buy one, if I get so lucky. Thank you for amazing walk around and allowing us for almost 50 minutes to feel as we were close to this magnificent masterpiece.

    Simon was so thorough and entertaining, well done! Loved the quirks in his accent, I wish I could speak Deutsch as well as he speaks English.

    Wow!! They thought of just about everything on this plane. Amazing walk around describing every detail. Thanks as always Erik.

    It was awesome watching it fly at Reno. It was so much more quiet than I expected. Was probably my favorite plane I saw at Reno.

    Great review. Being German made I would trust the quality of build 👍🏼..what other pilots watching wanted to see what aircraft was flying over when we heard the sound on the video 😂

    I’ve watched quite a few Videos about this particular plane. The P 51 mustang was always on my favorite planes. I have wanted one and a corsair, for quite some time. Problem is I don’t even have a pilots license, never taken a class. It’s one of my bucket list items before I die. Maybe with this plane this dream could be in reach.

    4:34 Beautiful plane. I'm paranoid about cutting zip tie straps so close to the 'head'. I worry the zip tie might slip a few teeth over time, although I don't think I've ever actually seen that happen.

    My question ,,, could you make the exhaust ports truly functional if a customer requested it ? Perhaps line the carbon ports with stainless or titanium ? Is there room under the cowling to accommodate the extra tubing required ?

    Hello Erik .. Can I please ask you what the deal is with the tiny propeller ?

    • @crisanister5131
      @crisanister5131 4 місяці тому

      I think the engine shaft can't take a larger prop.

    You should make drop tanks like the one used in WWll. I wish you would make P-51 B razorback. The razorback is the original version.
    Those two items would be awesome!

    Ok but light replacing gun place is bad idea, where u will get that whistling noise then if u dont have 6 pipes in wings?

    • @DougHanchard
      @DougHanchard Місяць тому

      The underbelly radiator duct recreates the whistling sounds you're used to hearing.

    Is the aircraft painted or bare / polished aluminum?

    is it a kit expiremental or factory certified

    • @DougHanchard
      @DougHanchard Місяць тому

      In order to qualify as a kit build, FAA & Transport Canada will only allow Experimental classification.
      A fully certified equivalent would require massive amounts of Engineering certification processes completed driving up costs (including liability).

    Is the US version limited to fixed landing gears only? If so, that practically ruined the look of "Scale Wing"....

    Great looking aircraft, but not quite right. I personally am waiting for a LS3 V8 engine with a larger prop and authentic exhaust system. I'm sure it won't be long coming.

    • @DougHanchard
      @DougHanchard Місяць тому

      LS 3 engines have been used in other experimental aircraft with varying degrees of success & reliability. Their TBO is not great and overall, a very heavy power to weight ratio and would require a reinforced firewall and mounting cradle.
      I would think in a light weight carbon fiber SW-51, getting the CoG balanced would require extensive reengineering.

    with a rotax its not going to sound like a warbird more like a lawn mower....and in warbirds analog instruments its from a time where they didnt have tv screens in planes lol

    • @slickrock1371
      @slickrock1371 8 місяців тому +3

      Wrong. The sound of the Scale Wing mimics the sound of its big brother due to airflow over the surface and the belly scoop.

    Put a camera in the nose, and display it on the panel for taxi, takeoff and landing.

    • @DougHanchard
      @DougHanchard Місяць тому +1

      You didn't see the camera mounted in the lower radiator duct? To me, that makes more sense because as he stated, it also used to verify landing gear position.

      That's what I noticed. I assume it's adequate . I think the real prop is somewhere around 9 feet.

      Small engine, small prop

    • @DougHanchard
      @DougHanchard Місяць тому

      As the designer stated, prop size is limited to certified Rotax axle shaft diameter, which is affected by maximum centrifugal force limits.
