This tip about mixing the corrector with a thick/darker concealer… it’s the only thing that got rid of my dark under eye circles (without me needing to buy more stuff, just Nars corrector and concealer on top). Thank you so much
I never comment, but this has been one of my absolute worst summers and this was so helpful Alex, thank you so much. Big hugs for whatever you're crying about on your end. Fucking life, dude. Actually hugs to anyone reading this, bc you're probably here for a reason. ❤
And y’all remember to do your skincare AFTER you’re done crying! Otherwise you’ll end up with streaks down your cheeks where the foundation didn’t properly stick and you’ll get really frustrated and start crying again🥴👍
I lost my precious dad unexpectedly a week ago and I’ve been crying every day since. Thank you, Alex, for giving me a way to focus on caring for myself during intense grief. 🌸
I’m so sorry! I lost my father 15 years ago, and I still miss him a ton. But the grief does, gradually, get less piercing. I wish you well, Internet stranger. 💙
I’m sorry for your loss. Sometimes all we can do to keep it together when it’s chaos is doing our makeup. But also there will be times when we have to give ourselves those times to just cry.
Makeup is meant to make us feel good, and it can be SO frustrating to try to feel better when you're puffy and sad and your skin won't cooperate. This video is going to come in clutch when I need a boost most 😗
Going through a breakup, decided to listen to my sad girl autumn playlist at 12am, cue the cry, my kitten was worried about me. Anyway next day, eyes were PUFFED i mean holy hell i thought i got stung by a bee. My savior? The hanskin eye serum i had bought for my dad - he never uses it - bam, literally 2 mins and my eyes were back to normal. This is the makeup i did as well, feel better babes, im happy someone else is sharing this ❤❤❤
You are such an original and I mean that in the best way. Beauty, self-deprecating humor, tips & techniques dispensed like no one else, and fearless closeups -- you're the best. Hope this helps.
Girl, this is right on time. Woke up yesterday with eye bags, post cry sesh, that I didn’t even know I could get. 😂 #divorcesucks Took some ibuprofen and it really helped with eyelid inflammation. Edited to add that movement and a walk will also help with any fluid buildup!
Oh gosh I’m so sorry hun 😢 I hope things go pretty smoothly for you all things considered. I divorced my cheating ex-husband 20 years ago this year; even though I had left him because he was cheating it was still a tough thing to go through. Now I’ve been married to my soul mate for 7 years, I’m so glad I got rid of the crappy husband so the good one could enter my life. A little divorce humor 😅 sending hugs, this too shall pass trust me. ❤
ok this tutorial is a solution to THE most relatable issue omg. Like sometimes just throwing on some waterproof mascara doesn't cut it and you still wanna look and feel fierce even when you're sad
I lost my dog on friday… she’d been with me for 13 years, ever since I was 11. I’ve been crying a lot and then you upload this video. Thank you! I’ll really need this tomorrow… Hope you and I feel better soon 🙂
Awwwww I’m so, so sorry about your sweet doggo. I’m sure she’s having fun playing with all the other dogs across the Rainbow bridge. I’ll tell my dog to look out for her ❤ it takes a long time to get over losing a beloved pet, please be gentle with yourself. Hugs.
You and I are in different demographics, and I’m sure I’m not your target audience (I’m old lol). I have fought dark circles my whole life and I have yellowish skin. I love your videos!! Thank you for always being respectful of people who can’t afford the high end products. I will purchase more expensive from time to time, but try to stick with the drugstore products. You never make me feel like I have to buy high end to look nice.
You make my day, every time you post. I appreciate your knowledge, talent and expertise. Thank you for sharing. Your personality, humor and sincerity make me happy. Thank you for being you! Many blessings💖💖💖
Thank you for this! My 6 month old and I are quarantining with covid right now so there have been lots of tears. Thank you for brightening up my day. ❤
Awwww I’m so sorry mama and baby ❤😞 husband and I had Covid a couple of weeks ago, it sucked. I hope you were able to get the Paxlovid for yourself, it helped us a lot. It’s so hard to rest when you have a sick baby.
Thanks for doing this! I sprained my back and have been in extreme pain & crying for 3 days. Very helpful techniques. Hope you are feeling better today. As always, you are the Queen! ❤
Dude around 22 minutes you said think of it as a sphere with the shadows and I'm like wow .... That works for my brain! Thank u so much. Love ya baddie
Love, love your artistry! I never write comments, but was so inspired by this crying/feeling blah video. Super helpful. Another idea for you: how to approach some kind of make-up when sweating is involved (hot/humid weather, perimenopause, anxiety, etc.)
I feel like this is gonna be one that people keep coming back to and more people will keep discovering bc realness. Thanks for taking advantage of a not-fun condition your face was in and using it to help more people than you'll ever know.
Hannah Louise Poston also has tutorials for two very cute, naturalistic ways of approaching this: one for when you want to lean into the blah (and make it cute), and one where you have to look polished and put together, despite feeling like shit. It’s amazing how changing one’s outer appearance can help you feel a bit better, too. ❤
Oh my goodness. When i cry, my eyes get so swollen i can't open them. I just call out of work or school when they get crazy. Its awful haha. : ( I hope you're doing okay, alex. You're awesome.
I love you, je t'aime, te quiero. there, i said it in all the languages i know. therapy is expensive, and you're here doing this for free. i love these "keeping it real" type of videos. also love your cat. hugs to you both
I just learned so much from this! I love how authentic you are, always. I needed these tips for the harder days. GAME CHANGER for me as a spoonie! You’re amazing and your company helped me feel calm after a difficult day. Thank you! XOXOXO
Thank you Alexandra for this super interesting video, it will come in handy when I have just cried or been sick.....The make-up is very pretty. Good day to you😪😪😪😪
Hi Alex. This is a great vlog because we see your BFA serve you well where you teach us about orbs and spheres and how light hits them (eyes). You are an asset to us all. ❤
Hope you're feeling better 🤗 The makeup looks beautiful! It's so important as a step to help you feel better when you've been upset and/or ill. It's therapeutic in itself! It also gives you something else practical to focus on ❤
I'm a little late watching this.. But this video I really needed, iv been suffering with my anxiety an crying a lot... Like a lot so thank you soo much for this video your just so calm and absolutely beautiful
I don’t know how is it possibile, literally I was looking for makeup inspiration after a long day of crying (btw I feel you my girl) since tomorrow I have to hang out with my friends and this popped up. If this is not the universe I don’t know what this is ahaha thank you so much anyway, hope everything is going to be better💓 Ps: we have the same looking cat ahahah
Another great tip for reducing undereye puffiness is to apply a small amount of Preparation H to the area. I know it sounds weird, but many top models have sworn by this trick for decades. In fact many of them keep a tube of it in their purse or make up bag for reducing puffiness before a shoot or runway show.
I misread the title as “how to look like you’ve been crying,” and now I honestly kinda want to see that too. 😂 This is stunning and very helpful, thank you!! That shimmer is GORGEOUS ✨
Every time you say "I'm exploring a new contour..." 😅 Elf Halo Glow is a HG. I'd love to see it in a pressed version. I'm also curious about the concealer pen you used, although the Natasha Denona concealer has been my go to.
This is something I’ve mastered as I am an emotional wreck who cries all the time lmao, but I liked hearing your tips and tricks. I break out in hives if I cry really hard so I like the idea of using a slightly warmer undertone of foundation than normal to offset some of the discoloration. Thank you so much for sharing this! We love you Alex! ❤
Thank you so much Alexandra! I have been ill for a few months now, and I am going to visit two of my children and their families in a couple of weeks. My skin is something that I don’t know what to do with it, and my face is swollen from one of the medications, so I don’t even recognize myself in the mirror. These tips will be really helpful to help avoid those dreaded pitiful looks from the fam. I’m not even reaching for fabulous…. I’m aiming for non-traumatizing! LOL
What a great video Alex, lots of fantastic tips. As always TBH. You explain colour theory so well and your blending techniques are goals. You're imperfect and real and thats why I love you!
I learned alot about lightening dark and darkening light. And, hydrating. Thankyou you are so amazing and funny, and gorgeous!!! I wish you could make a list of all the products you use each video cause it's hard to keep track so we can buy them cause you mention them very fast and it's hard to hear and write them down while looking at what you are doing.
This is just one of those videos that everyone needs girl.
Girl stop, I love you 😩
Just in time 👌🏻
As an Overly Emotional Gay™ I am also jumping on this train 😆
Hope you’re doing okay Alex. I appreciate you. Your presence and your content helps me through my own sh!t. Sending you all the love ❤️

Worst summer here too ❤ sending love
Same. Hugs to everyone ❤️
Same here. Grieving a loss. The season is almost over. I wish you well ❤❤
Xo all

I'm so sorry for your loss. Lost my mom 4 weeks ago and feel your pain

nowadays the crappy days far outweigh the good days, so having looks like this in the tool kit are extra helpful 💕
