sun jian go straight ahead, cao cao go to the top of the fan shui gate, yuan shu you attack from the rear, lui bei go around and keep an eye out on the hu lao gate
i can just picture the voice for yuan shao saying all that and than getting more serious when he tells yuan shu to atk from rear. some serious nostalgia this comment brings me
I'll never forget the first time I played this game, It still holds a special place in my heart. I have to beat it or at least play it once or twice a year lol
+Wrestling Game I had this game on my ps2 and at some point it broke and I had to throw and sold all the games when people still bought them but I kept this game and even today I have it as a memory :)
26 year old here in 2023. I played this game by myself and with my older uncles and dad almost every day in my childhood. Before the first Xbox came out. I can still play it and have inducted my little teen sisters to take up the mantle of completing this fun game that stands the test of time.
** WARNING: Lots of text Dynasty Warriors 3 is so undescribably legendary. The combination of insanely good gameplay, awesome music, and intense dialogue/cutscenes made this my favorite game back in the day. If you're thinking about buying this game, don't hesitate. I still have my PS2, two controllers, memory card, and DW3 disc, but I don't have a TV to hook it up to :^(. I played this game so much like a decade back. I have all the fourth weapons and only five or six of my characters aren't maxed out in stats. I never played any of the other games in the Dynasty Warriors franchise often. They're nowhere near as good as DW3 was, from what I can see. I remember so much about this game it's crazy. He Fei Wu Side hard difficulty is so good for stat grinding. The numerous Wei officers give such high ATT and DEF stat boosts it's ridiculous. Just an insignificant minor officer under Xu Huang gives a 4+ Def boost. A minor officer. Minor. After I kill him, I save Lu Meng first every single time. But even then, the poor guy ends up at Cao Cao's base with like 1 morale and doesn't accomplish much. Sometimes he even dies to Xu Zhu, RIP. Gan Ning on the Wei side of He Fei is so hard to kill unless you take out the crossbowmen one by one and then run away like a coward, which is what I did every time. But the Gan Ning ambush music at 42:03 makes Wei side of this map so worth it. And Yi Ling Shu Side is probably my second favorite behind He Fei. Letting the fire attack happen then proceeding to watch your Shu officers die within 30 seconds of it makes this map such a great, challenging one man army map. You spend like 25 minutes running around fighting everything by yourself. It's one of the more challenging maps as well. These Wu officers pose a serious threat to you, especially if you leave them alone for more than a second. They just heal up to max health and come back for more. It's terrifying to see those long white lines and a Wu Officer in his charging stance. Guard Captains were so sacred to me with their health item drops. I also played Chang Ban Wei Side solely because of the music part at 39:19. Insane. To be completely honest, I was not a fan of chasing Liu Bei without even being able to catch a breath. Also, you're seriously not getting the full experience out of this game if you don't go on Hard Difficulty. The challenge it gives is such a thrill. Might take a little bit to get used to, though. Just off the top of my head, I remember such great moments like Lu Bu at Hu Lao Gate and how much he was hyped up over the first few minutes as a beastly warrior, and Chi Bi's fire attack, and Wu Zhang Plains being great on both sides, although I slightly prefer Shu side. Man, I could probably write 50 pages about every single stage and character in this game but I think I wrote enough. If you're looking for a good, old game with a lot of gameplay, you could probably buy this for a couple bucks online. Seriously worth it. But watch out. You might develop an intense hatred toward crossbows after a while. And by gameplay, I mean a TON of gameplay depending on how much you're willing to play it. Hard mode. Maxing out stats. Fourth weapons. Musou mode, although I never bothered to finish this mode after I got all the officers. There's even a 1v1 fighting mode with your buddy on another controller. I just seriously cannot express how addictive and insanely good this game is. The gameplay is limitless and addicting. The music is intense, befitting of the situation, and overall awesome. I don't even listen to this genre of music and I still think these pieces of music are some of the best game tracks I've ever listened to. I take my hat off to KOEI for developing this godsend game. Still my favorite game ever. ** Also did anyone else have that annoying glitch where your stupid officers would just get 30 seconds of defense when they charged instead of recovering health? And they would do this constantly, just standing there charging over and over again and they would eventually die LOL... Never experienced this when I first started playing but as I played the game for like two years, it started to happen more often.
Yeah you hit the nail right on the head with all you said. This was my first ps2 game and my favorite game of all time. One thing I agree with was the Chang ban stage for Wei was way to short. I wish it was like gated so Liu bei is afraid to retreat or something but wu Zhang plains shu's side, and he fei castle on wu's defined epic in videogames
also a quick one on the officers glitching, from myself being able to use the recover health when charging your musou, this is due to certain officers getting certain power ups!, sometimes they cant recover health even once, but for the most part they all get a minimum 3 health charges which will go as +100 then +200 and then +max health, but after that you can only use the attack or defence power ups! the officers constantly charging without attacking is super annoying though haha
Agreed. Think this was the game where they got the formula right. Every one after has just had the odd tweak here and there along with the usual graphic and performance improvements.
Best Music to me. All tracks you wanted to hear. Best Instant Death of all Warriors series and 4th Weapons were best in original even if they had mostly useless stats vs all other DWs. 3 XL made the best versions of most weapons but No weapon was better than Instant Death Weapons upgrades for some and the original Instant Death Weapons in 3 vanilla.
I just bought Dynasty Warriors , and played a bit of 4 and 5 back in the day, and while they're all a lot of fun, nothing can touch the soundtrack from 3, it was so great and added a whole new layer to the intensity of the game.
The best version of Dynasty Warriors! Completely honest My friend and I were competitive on which would unlock the most in the game so we both played A LOT I loved and still love playing this game! Got a ps2 for it and KH :)
Awee =( trust me bro it's worth try to check out your local pawn shops and make a account on ebay to buy the game and memory card. SOOO WORTH IT This game gives ya that drive you know? :) Remember you get cheats to unlock all characters and all maps :))))
I always took this game for granted growing up, never realized it would be the best DW game I was playing haha. The music rocks HEAVY & the game flows so nicely. I need to get into it again.
Xiahou Dun was my jam in this game. I remember being stuck on Battle of He Fei for ages because Taishi Ci was too good at holding that little town in the middle.
DW3 was my first console game ever, and Zhang Liao was my favorite character. Playing the Wei Side on the Siege of He Fei Castle and trying to just make it past the first gate defended by Lu Meng and Lu Xun while watching the allied officers death reports come in one after another really made you feel like a single, superhuman unyielding defender trying to withstand endless waves of tough enemies.
1:00 Brother: Ok, time to pick characters for the versus mode. You first, sis. Little Me: I want Sun Shang Xiang! Bro: Pfft, you'll never beat me with her. Me: Just watch! *several minutes later* Bro: How...How did you beat me when I had Zhang Fei? Me: Because you stink! Ah, fond childhood memories.
I had 3 roommates in college and we only had a PS2 in the house and DW 2 & 3. We spent so much time playing these games, and hearing this music sends me back.
Blast from the east hands down best song in any dynasty warriors game, 3 i have to agree was best, i really enjoyed how u could customize your bodyguards, i left mine as majors maxed out, plus lu bu i remember playing as lu xun on hu lao gatemaxed out and took me like 30 minutes to kill lol
This is a straight classic! Me and my brother used to get up nearly everyday in the morning trying to beat musou mode. Divine Wind and March were my shit, them 2 would always get me going. Man what happened to the Koei music production team? The songs they've been making for the recent dynasty warriors are good don't get me wrong, but you can clearly tell they went all out on this soundtrack! Every song is unique and not one sounds alike
its so crazy , i swear i last played this game like 15 years ago, but i still remember what stage (and which side) every song was played in... obv. i played this game like 10k hours :D love 8:28
This is my new intense gaming music. I just defended my Rust base to this on repeat. Every time the songs cycled, my heart bursted with adrenaline and nostalgia. 😬😬😬😬😬
Sacred Ground, so amazing... Used to feel so sad at Xu Huangs death quote when that epic song was playing. It worked so well, damn I miss those days...
Favorite DW game. I always played as my man Taishi Ci b/c he beats up people with 2 big sticks lmao and I found that funny. Also I loved the horrible voice acting in this game. It's something I miss in the newer warriors titles, well atleast the ones I've played (mainly Orochi Warriors 3).
Remember me and my best friend being blown away by DW:2, all those enemies at screen at once, the fact that you fight in a big open map, a friken war! Then we hear of DW:3, we go to our local blockbusters and rent the game, playing it non stop in coop, good times man.
Its either a good or bad thing that I know exactly where each song is from (if you know what i mean). I can remember playing to every bit of music. Such an epic game.
Feel the power of my maAAaaaAagiiiIiiiiic.
You Flaming Idiots!
take thiiis!
saiyaniam Like a lamb to the slaughter.... FIRE!
William Hua its.....its....LUBU....
The Han is dead, Long Live The Yellow Dragon
sun jian go straight ahead, cao cao go to the top of the fan shui gate, yuan shu you attack from the rear, lui bei go around and keep an eye out on the hu lao gate
lol
Don't persue Lu Bu lol
i can just picture the voice for yuan shao saying all that and than getting more serious when he tells yuan shu to atk from rear.
some serious nostalgia this comment brings me
zach thomas I know playing it right now taishi ci ftw
LMFAO, omg I've heard that line so many times.
by far the best dw out of all of them. classic gameplay, best music, and probably the most publicly released dw...shit is too nostalgic.
Couldn't have said it any better
Truth .
I'll never forget the first time I played this game, It still holds a special place in my heart. I have to beat it or at least play it once or twice a year lol

EyyyRofl And it has Xtreme Legends, making it one of the best DW ever made.

Logan Groff agreed made my childhood awesome
Agreed. Think this was the game where they got the formula right. Every one after has just had the odd tweak here and there along with the usual graphic and performance improvements.

You just mentioned the two best games of playstation 2 on a single comment. Bravo!
DW3 and Extreme Legends were the best. TOTALLY. Ugh, I still get urges to play this game. Unfortunately I don't have a PS2 anymore. v.v Sad day.

Its like lambs to the slaughter... still the best DW and the best Hu Lao Gate mission / song!
Taishi Ci, what a pain of a character
Best Dynasty of Warriors ever for PS2 if you had Lu Bu on the highest level unbeatable
He's hard Enemy ever
This music still goes hard in 2018🔥🔥
BigPapiDamian Hell yeah!
2021
Here 2022
No sign of stopping in 2023

Holy crap you know this game is nostalgia when you get goosebumps listening to this
man, i played the shit out of this game when i was 9-12. I guess I can see why i ended up loving metal so much. Heavy shit, great solos
Dynasty Warriors 3 : Best DW EVER!!!!!
I always played as Zhen Ji, she's awesome! And I really like her flute ^.^
GinchiyoAzumi her special is awesome
Ryan belger I got her 4th weapon too
Ryan belger That's awesome! ^_^
GinchiyoAzumi i will agree and it had the best made maps
Demonus Flame Yeah! =)
I love the beginning music like from the settings menus love that beat!
Blast from the east hands down best song in any dynasty warriors game, 3 i have to agree was best, i really enjoyed how u could customize your bodyguards, i left mine as majors maxed out, plus lu bu i remember playing as lu xun on hu lao gatemaxed out and took me like 30 minutes to kill lol
hei fei castle. is hard ass level but the music fuckin awesome
+Ryan belger it kept you wanting to keep on playing until you won never give up
+Wrestling Game agree
18:50 I cannot forgive those who hurt innocent people!
To my fellow guitarist 14:50 Exotic Warriors is incredibly fun to play ~
11:56 “Don’t pursue Lu Bu”
12:46 *gets troop obliterated by Lu Bu*
This is a straight classic! Me and my brother used to get up nearly everyday in the morning trying to beat musou mode. Divine Wind and March were my shit, them 2 would always get me going. I always felt bad defeating Zhao yun, he was my hero when i was only 8
And Chase the Wave is such a sick track
HUMBLE THE REBELS!
Nostalgia at its finest
September 2024. The song "March" is STILL the best song I've ever heard in a game 🔥🔥🔥
Definitely in my top 3 of classic ps2 games. Alot of great memories with my family playing this with me aswell !
its so crazy , i swear i last played this game like 15 years ago, but i still remember what stage (and which side) every song was played in... obv. i played this game like 10k hours :D
love 8:28
Thank you for posting this!!!! Playing this old childhood game now!
So many great soundtracks from this game! Love Endless fight, Superior, March, The Force Field, and the men of intelligence the most!
I keep coming back to this soundtrack and game it really is the best both in music and gameplay
This is my new intense gaming music. I just defended my Rust base to this on repeat. Every time the songs cycled, my heart bursted with adrenaline and nostalgia. 😬😬😬😬😬
BEAST SOUNDTRACK
BEST SONG!!!!! and BEST VERSION!!!
woah what a game and soundtrack, really this was one of my favorites growing up as a kid, still is.
I like this mix of electonic music with rock/metal guitar sounds very much.
This is worth listening as an album, imo.
The men of intelligence is the best ost in the game
No-one can convince me that this wasn't the best DW game to ever exist
4:06 Edit Mode song. Just amazing.
So many memoried of dynasty warriors on the old ps2 with my big bro. Such great memories
yeshhhhhhh DW3 music rules over all the other titles
26:10 makes me so happy for some reason.
Great soundtrack
Isn't that the wu and Wei fight at he fei castle
This is the battle where WU throws everything they have got at wei, wei is defending the castle
42:03 is my favorite song out of all of them.
This entire soundtrack was fantastic.
I love and miss this game so much.
This brings back good memories @50:40
Funny ass shit when the male heroes did the dance
If got DW 8 extreme legends having great fun with it but have to be honest this was the best one
My very first Dynasty Warriors game! This brings back so many good memories... A shame I was too little/ bad at the time to finish the game :,)
Thanks for the ending "Cirtuit" you renember me my old times in my PS2 and pass the game for ear this beautifull ending...
Just what I was looking for! Thank you very much for this. You changed my life!
the hu lao gate lick legit makes me tear up.
DW3 had By far the best music out of all the DW I played! Just loved it- it made me feel like such a hero during gameplay
The best are Opening Intro and Force Field.
One after the other, it just perfect !
Sacred Ground, so amazing... Used to feel so sad at Xu Huangs death quote when that epic song was playing. It worked so well, damn I miss those days...
one of my fav games of all time. Fuck new DW this was a classic
I couldn't afford a PS2 at the time this game came out, so I played the demo for hours at the electronics store while my parents shopped in the mall.
oh hey, this is still the best dynasty warriors game and best ost in the series :>
Always will, he fei castle wu side, and wu zhang plains shu side best stages ever of dynasty warriors to me.
Thank you for putting this up, i love the dynasty warriors series and 3 is my favorite out of all of them.
Power and Glory
Blast from the east final battle wei vs wu so epic and challenging when this game first came out childhood for sure
I think I was 5 years old when I was playing DW. OMG.... Today I played again... It is still AMAZIIIIING!
Front lines retake the middle.. That’s the vital spot of the Wu army 😎👍
Remember me and my best friend being blown away by DW:2, all those enemies at screen at once, the fact that you fight in a big open map, a friken war! Then we hear of DW:3, we go to our local blockbusters and rent the game, playing it non stop in coop, good times man.
Nothing but love for this game and OST. Glad to hear some of these classics in the hypothetical missions of DW8!
01:55
14:48
Move along, just timestamps for myself.
You’re awesome!
I literally listen to this while playing Warriors Orochi 4...2019 ftw
March @ 18:50 is the official song of DW to me. If you hear it, you know it's Dynasty Warriors time.
MASA's a pretty cool dude.

Thanks to this game I love video games lol
Xiao Qiao forever :)
@ 5:25 ESPN sportscenter theme lol
The Force Field, Endless Fight, and March are epic for sure (yeah Rhythm Section!), but I think they channeled Hendrix for Exotic Traitors.
The nostalgia is real boys
the Song at 8:27 is one of the best Songs ever made
100% Agree
Blast from the east ♥ I still play dw6 empires to hear all of these songs xD
Steven Holloway I play 3 still. This is my life.
Its either a good or bad thing that I know exactly where each song is from (if you know what i mean). I can remember playing to every bit of music. Such an epic game.
man, got goosebumps
Damn, i feel something burning in my chest, feel so good, my chilhood is burning !
Best DW title out of all of em!! Somehow, after 4, Koei forgot how to fill their battles with suspense and strategy. :P
NANMAN THEME!
Best french voice actors hahaha
Je suis une des meilleures voix françaises de Dynasty warriors 3 xD
Legend of the Man
18:50🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of my fav music for this game, always got me pumped up when I had to hack away at the enemies
Game for life!!! Sadly mine just stopped working, so now I have to buy a new one online.

Nostalgia! I remember Gan Ning was my favourite character by far!
