wtf how is this life changing I didn't even want to comment but this was garbage and would not happen ever. this was not the Viking way, there's a real story about a Viking who would not kill babies while the others would throw them in the air and catch them on spears they called him the child lover as an insult, that's who these people were. Raid, drink, rape and kill there favorite things.

@@GoatLuffy_97this is why I will always regard this adaptation as a "miracle " in the anime world . Just like how lord of the Rings is a miracle in Hollywood. Still can't process how we were able to adapt these two absolute masterpieces . The level of passion and determination you should have to work on these projects is just admirable .

People can easily forget that all of this farm stuff was just because Canute needed money and food for his grand plans, and his only other options were disbanding the large force stationed in England, or raising taxes everywhere, and he didn't want to do either. All this has done was get Canute to see if he could do one of the other options, and now that he has, he can use those extra men and funds for his war effort to take over more of the North Sea and bring more people under his rule.
This isn't too much of a happy ending, he still has his vision and it's still going forward. People will suffer and die, unjustly or not, all over the place. He's not stopping, he just didn't take the farm, and might consider small logistical changes here and there out of respect for a man who he believes shares his worldview. Canute is still the same person with the same goal and ambition, he wasn't really turned, or shown the light, or saved or anything of the sort. Thorfinn knows he cant morally grandstand people as if he knows what's objectively right and wrong, and Canute still wants to change the world.

The outcome was less about Thorfinn convincing Canute, but more about inspiring Canute. Canute felt like his back was against the wall mentally, and since he really only trust one single person, he thought tightening control was the only means to maintain leadership.
Thorfinn gave him an excuse as an out he himself was looking for besides just being corrupted from the mental images of his father. Someone to trust as an ally, not fight against as an enemy.

this show is about the mindset of peace. between the suffering and humiliation as slave and listening to the victims stories of war, and the experiences as once warrior is a cycle of hate and crimes that only produces pessimistic views of the world and Disrupt living in peace. it's beautiful how Canute changed his mind to seize other farms and support his more wars. he disbanded his army and started making peace with the English instead of listening to the inner voice of his evil father.

  • @akhiltrc9708
    @akhiltrc9708 Рік тому +5

Thorfinn struck Canute's philosophical foundation without even knowing it. Canute was never doing any of that for vicious reasons, he did it all for pragmatic reasons. We had no problem back when Canute was requisitioning that one slaver owner's land (burning the stake). But know, Canute can see there is a different way, when before himself (esp his dad's head) and all around him were feeding him only pessimistic views of the world. Thorfin comes along and disruptes that.
What makes Thorfinn a "real man" is starting with his struggles, his very blood thursty past, the competence and tendency for violence that gave him. Then going through the guilty self-hating journey to learn that violence is not the option. Thors went through the same path. No one cN realize it whole-heartedly without going thru solething like that.

Small change I prefered in the manga
Wulf says he's never seen Canute govial before when they're on the ship
He response I cant make more work for Thorfin
We are then yild what hes done
It just makes it clearer that its the mind set change that leads to everything else
They also took out Thorfinn saying he looks like a ruler
When thry meet and he looks hardened and on the defence
Adterwards we see him look completly different and as he said
    I feel good
I doubt he'll be seeing his Dad again!

I'm voting for Vinland Saga season 2 to win anime of the year. It should have won in 2019. I hope it doesn't get robbed again. Unfortunatly popularity wins and not what's actually the best but if Cyberpunk won last anime awards beating AOT and Demon Slayer then I have hope Vinland Saga can pull through. This is year we had a lot of good shows. Oshino ko is also in the running but it's not quite there yet to win Anime of the year. Most of the peak stuff will happen in future seasons I'm sure it will win then. It definitly will win in one of the future Years but this year has got to be Vinland Saga's year. If a story so well written, beautful and emotionally impactful doesn't win that would be a crime. Demon Slayer this year was fun but it's not Anime of The Year material. It definity deserves best animation and best fight scene for sure. AOT won in 2021 deservingly but 1 movie in 2023 does not top a complete masterclass of a season by Vinland Saga. I hope people that only have watched popular anime like AOT, Demon Slayer, Oshi No Ko, My hero academia etc give Vinland Saga a chance and watch it. You got to be mature and patient to understand and appreciate how beautuful this story is. Don't be that type of person that wants action or something to happen every 5 minutes and can't sit through it to appreciate it's slow but steady beautiful journey. If you're that type of person then my only hope is that you will slowly change when you grow up in age because you're missing out on Peak fiction and storytelling by being a simple person like that and you will never evolve from that childish shell.
