I'd put my money on the mother telling him how amazing he was when he was little, and then the father not supporting him in acquiring any real abilities or education: didn't want the competition. Trump has been trying to build a hotel in front of the Kremlin for over 30 years. Here we are, decades later, Trump became POTUS and gave Putin the green light "to do whatever the hell he wants," including attacks on Europe. All it took was some compliments and stroking Trump's ego. Putin is leading Trump with the proverbial carrot in front of his face with the prospect of a Trump tower in Moscow in order for Trump to give him whatever he wants, including for the U.S. to pull out of NATO. Without NATO, Putin swoops into Europe, especially if Ukraine falls. The U.S. won't be able to help if Trump pulls us out of NATO. Putin will then attack the US, with the help of China and North Korea. Europe won't be able to help the U.S. since we'd be no longer a member of NATO. Then Putin, Xi, and Kim will hash it out because one wants more power and land than the other. Yes, it'll be WW III, but not because of Democrats. By the time all of this is happening, Trump will be long gone. Whether he dies between now and a hundred years, Trump does not give a shit about anyone but himself!
He abandoned the American people when he sold us out to dictators and when Covid hit. He was never fit to be President.

I saw the apprentice yesterday. It was excellent. I haven't been able to listen to Trump's voice for months, but l thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It was fascinating and very revealing.

Great interview! Looking forward to seeing the movie. As a lifelong New Jersey resident of a certain age, I have witnessed Trump's rise using the media. The first mention of him that I saw was a 1970s article in the NYT regarding their settlement of a discrimination lawsuit from black and Jewish applicants to their apartment complexes. The smarmy smirk that Donald wore in his photo said it all: his avarice, racism and overwhelming egotism were all there . The way he defrauded workers, contractors and suppliers during the Trump Tower construction were horrendous. Even the way that he promised to save the historic stone friezes on the B. Altman Building, just to haul them to a landfill, showed how big a grifting liar he was.

I read Mary’s book and it was very informative. I was worried that the book would concentrate only on the narcissist, but it turned out to be a great book focusing on ALL of the UFOs in that family. Freddie was the only one who was the good son and his refusal to identify with the other freaks was honorable in my mind. I recommend this book.

This was a challenge for me in 2015 when trump tossed himself into politics. Friends and family were excited that finally a business person was running instead of another lawyer, long term politician. Well, let me tell you, we never talked religion or politics, that was the norm of us all. But, the arguments between us were unhinged, I was totally against trump, because, I remembered his racism against tenants, his failed Casinos and all he was to me was a BRAND, in fact a Phony Brand imo, I couldn’t convince them, even with the evidence. They always went to the Apprentice and I never saw an episode, because it was trump!!
Today, it’s rather quite, don’t know why, my suspicions are they figured out I was right about trump. That’s my hope for sure!! They never mention his presidency, I know that.

There is some credit in that reasoning. However the idea that Trump was a wealthy successful businessman was a total myth. Trump was indeed a failed businessman who had bankrupted himself several times, but Trump has also bankrupted many hard working American contractors and companies sending them to the wall destroying families and leaving a trail of broken lifes simply because Trump refused to pay his bills.

I had been around them through all their crazy Rush Limbaugh and FoxMuse talk, but they really flipped on their heads with this announcement. I have wondered about those people since and if they are still supporters, but a couple months of them and I couldn't take it anymore. Hopefully none were there on Jan 6, but some could have been. I had to leave them far behind---they lost all common sense.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Apprentice. It had low ratings. It was a good movie considering the topic. The other film I rewatched was Where's My Roy Cohn. The two together give a clearer picture of the dumpster fire that is Trump.
