I’ve done this when I wasn’t happy with my painting and I always make it better.
It’s the same principle, you just head into the process intending to destroy the work 1-2 times and learn to have faith that what is left behind will add depth to what goes over it.
Interesting lecture. I thought about it as experimentation and intuition. I guess you need to let yourself "free to destroy" first.
Knowing before you start painting that you will destroy parts or all does give you more freedom to experiment…eventually it builds confidence too.
Learn the flexibility of the medium. Open your mind to it's effects.
