- Learn how to swiftly create an Archimedes wind turbine in FreeCAD with this beginner-friendly tutorial. Follow along for a simple workflow using the part workbench and two simple sketches in the sketcher. This can also be easily adapted to part design. Harness the power of the Fibonacci spiral design for optimal wind energy harvesting. Join me on this journey as I aim to further develop and construct the device myself.

Wow, that's a crazy shape.
I had already designed turbines using the golden ratio with variable wall thicknesses (including aerodynamic ones), using FreeCAD's loft function. To optimize the design, using thin walls, I have seen designers using rods connecting the ends to the shaft, but in my projects I replaced these rods with a ring where these ends are embedded, in order to stabilize the body even in extreme conditions. This comment is a suggestion to boost practical uses.
Thank you for adding that. That sounds like a really good suggestion. I had a look back at the Liam F1 and this does to seem to have a number rods. Adding the rings instead is a really interesting concept and I can see how it can integrate into the design. I am only just starting out on this adventure and your comment has given me some much needed food for thought. Thanks once again.
How can one build this thing IRL from a strong materials? Not those printed ones.
Can you make a video please?
Funny. When I was first exposed to FreeCAD, I needed to create a screw. What a learning lesson I had. From 0 to 60 in record time. Messing with the helix, profiles and sweeps were not beginner concepts. Wow what I've learned in 4 years. Since then, I've learned there are addon work benches for screws and gears. I'm headed to the architecture work bench for making gaming pieces soon. Thank you again for all the in-depth lessons.
Great to hear the journey you have been on, so glad the tutorials have helped :)
That was cool. Thanks
Great video, thank you for posting. I'm starting to warm up to FreeCAD more and more. I was put off by it at first but I think I just need to learn most of the functions to be more comfortable
Freecad has a steep learning curve due to the multiple different workbenches that can be used (and abused) together and without guidance it can be very hard going at it alone. I have been down that path and it's not nice, and it's the reason why I made this channel 😊. Really glad these videos are helping and welcome to the journey.
Great. Was cool learning 🙂
Sir practical is so difficult sir. Good explain 👌🌹🙏
Nice job! 👏 It would be interesting to develop a blade into flat sheet, but I don't think it's possible (?)
I have a video coming up soon regarding unwrapping models for laser / plasma cut so should work with this one.
Hi- good to see that vid. Can you explain or do that- how to make a flat shape of blade to be laser cuted from steel and than bent to coplete auch as turbine for real usage ?
Greetings, Could you share the file?
Everything in freecad is so damn convoluted.
I'm sure it's powerful software, but it's not friendly.
Dove posso comperarlo
Can we vary the thickness of Blades ?
Yes you can alter the offset thickness but I am not sure if that's what you are looking for?
no queremos ver dibujos queremos ver comose hace la turbina
