This was a really nice video to see. I wish we had proper news reports like this in the UK! I'm interested in volcanoes & earthquakes and have been following the recent events in Iceland. Valur is really interesting to listen to and I'm sure his report was comforting for Icelanders to listen to. Keep up the great work and keep safe.
Thank you for such a clearly explained and reassuring update, in stunning surroundings, the gorgeous other-worldliness of Iceland! And the aerial shots really highlighted the previous lava flows, with different colours of moss showing different timescales, I guess? Just beautiful. But also awe-inspiring, vá, ótrúlegt!
I am so glad that you have provided this view of Iceland and its people. This is scary news, but I'm glad that you're willing to show the world, including me (I live in Ohio, US) this look at your beautiful country. I will hope and pray that you will manage to do well in this frightening time. Thank you for your interest in sharing.
There is a geologist on you tube channel Oppenheimer Ranch Project. He says this could be very serious. Our whole community is watching this closely and praying for you, Iceland! You are not alone.
After Saint Hellens Erupted the Geologist said flora and fauna would not come back for decades. In 5 months later a 2-3 inch deep bed of moss grew. It looked like a fairyland. The deer, elk and critters loved eating the moss. Deer & elk food is moss!
@Tiger: I’ve never forgotten the woeful beliefs that life around Mt. St. Helens would not return for decades. Did they even say a hundred years? Anyway, all I could think of was haven’t they ever gardened? Proof came when the first green sprouted from the ash weeks later. It’s time for scientists to concede that life happens fast, not in eons of time but suddenly, fast, quick, as in right now time.
I have paranoia since last week 🤣 I’m working in tallest building in Reykjavik and I don’t want to go to work anymore, let’s hope that big one will be after 4 a clock 🤣👌🏼Takk 🇮🇸
Thanks for the wonderful aerial/drone shots and the annotated landscapes! Great addition to your normal broadcast. Hope everyone is well and Polly can relax soon.
We are getting hit here in California, USA. They say that Mexico may be hit with a 9.0. Keep your information coming we appreciate it!😊 God Bless March 1st 2021
This is so interesting. I just realized that I watched dozens of videos three years ago of the Kilauea fissure eruptions in Hawaii with a local guy crunching through tefra and narrating the surroundings. But I hope you don’t have eruptions or at worst only “tourist volcanoes” 🌋. The reaction of your dog to the earthquakes is very interesting, and concerning.
Please stop the religious nonsense already. Seriously every thread........ Prayers to a fictional monster do less then nothing. Waiting for something to happen instead of doing something yourself...... And hey, if prayers ACTUALLY worked, why are their children dying in hospitals?

Great video, wonderful surroundings, the landscape is gorgeous, sorry to hear about the earthquakes, pay attention to the animals, they know what is coming before we do, one of your better newscasts, thank you.
"the good news is this is not a volcano. The bad news is.... everything else is" ahahaha got you a subscribe! really enjoying the volcanic coverage from the future!
Thank You Valur, Polly and Art. Great commentary and footage, as always! It's amazing what can happen in 2 months! The area is full of surprises! Polly, hope that you are feeling more relaxed. 💕 Stay safe! 🙏
Hello RG team! A location request from Montreal, from a High Five member - would love to see Polly visit the other famous Reykjavik pets.. specifically Baktus from Gyllti kötturinn and Atlas from Fischer :)
Watching Your intro., just before the music. You saying, “this is the most dangerous place in all of Iceland”. The music came on and I almost jumped out of my skin. Geez, I thought.....well. Stay safe out there on the tundra.🌋❄️
That road is so scary! I drove a Volkswagen Golf up to the parking area, and didn´t think we could make it! But, the hike was incredible... So stunningly quiet out there...
On Sicily and perhaps the whole of Italy, you can go to jail for diverting a larva flow from your own property onto your neighbour's. It doesn't look as if there are many olive-groves in the affected area of Iceland, though, so it probably doesn't matter.
Thank you for this information. The quakes are annoying. One woke me up. Laki eruption was pretty nasty for Iceland AND Europe. Hope and pray it settles down.
I'm a new subscriber from the southern state of Georgia, USA. I'm enjoying the beautiful scenery of Iceland in your videos. You have such a geologically fascinating Country. Thank-you for sharing with the rest of the world. 😁❣️🙏
Thanks for the update Valur - give Polly a pat from all of us to keep her calm. The good news it doesn’t look like there’s any magma on the move right now so this is probably horizontal movement across the ridge line rather than presaging an eruption. Though having said that, the activity is concentrated between the two volcanic systems of Krysuvík and Svartsengi (where the Blue Lagoon is located), so volcanism isn’t entirely ruled out. To give an idea of how much energy has been produced in the current swarm, if you add up the energy released by all the earthquakes it is something over 10 kilo tonnes of TNT - a little less than the energy produced by the Hiroshima bombing. And i would appreciate it if you can put in a good word with the Old Gods to hold off from any photogenic eruptions until I can travel again.
And then there came the volcano... A small one, a fissure volcano as predicted, but it continues... It's interesting to see the videos from the time before the eruption started...
There are earthquakes and herds of elk and bison leaving Yellowstone in America today. Is anyone following and comparing the news from Iceland and Yellowstone?
Next reporting, could you comment if any tilt meters or so are placed there to determine if there's any upwelling of the land. That would indicate magma is rising to the surface.
Texas has all kinds of terrain . From dessert to a few mountains, trees green grass, prairie land, rolling rocky hills. And ocean calked gulf coast. And Rivers . And we silly make 3 to 5 story highways
The volcano will form a crack in the ground. So the mountains themselves are not volcanos, but some of them are connected to the volcanic system called Fagradalsfjall (beautiful valley mountain).
5.7, huge? A large earthquake? In California no one even feels a 5.7.... In Japan, same deal... I've felt worse shakes listening to Carole King's Tapestry album, when I was launching it off the balcony due to an over prescribed listening schedule by the ladies of the house, which had become seismic in its offense, and so, it grew wings, and launched itself off the balcony in an act of a most noble sacrifice for my peace of mind. Of course, I helped it along, but the real blessing came from the force of nature governing lift! Thank you uplift! Truly. And you, Sir, Valur, thanks for your reporting on the situation there in Iceland! I pray you all stay safe, and aren't in the path of any more quakes. Large, or otherwise.

May I suggest carrying a water bottle while walking during these reports, and for the 4-footed Spirit in Charge of Morale, a collapsible cup so she , too, could have a drink ? As for the ground tremors, I am listening to you, and watching the Morale Officer as an early warning sensor.

a lot of energy in mid atlantic ridge currently from eq activity , travels north to iceland drain point , energy also travels from poland / germany / france /uk , that also drains at iceland on mid atlantic ridge .
Killeau (spelling) in Hawaii has been wiggling a bit for the last monthish after its activity in 2018. Mount Etna in Sicily has been blowing for the last monthish. His dog sure is enjoying the hike. I really like listening to the Host. Valur Grettisson. Very imformative and not boring at all.

hello Polly! love your channel :-)
dog won't hear you😥😥
I would love to see a feature movie made about the true story of the Eldfell eruption and how the island was saved.
It’s awesome to see you trying to speak English so that everyone that only speaks English can check you out and learn something!

and all the other people who do not speak icelandish, but speak english - are they not interested to listen to the guy?
@@janettechapple6542 True. He has a strong accent, but I would consider him to be fluent.
