A Tribute To Ben Raemers by Richard Quintero

- As you know, Ben Raemers passed away earlier this year from suicide. He is and will continue to be missed by many, and if you can contribute, there’s a donation campaign to raise money for charity in his name.
Our friend Richard Quintero did a good amount of traveling with Ben. He felt like he needed to put together something to convey, even in a small way, what it was like to spend time with Ben and enjoy the liveliness he brought with him everywhere.
So Richard dug through all his files to find every single thing he’d ever filmed with Ben to create this film in his memory.
Personality can be hard to capture on camera, but Ben’s oozed out of him naturally. He didn’t put on an act to be this fun and funny. It’s just how he was around everybody. As much as you’d want to skate with him, you’d also want to hit the town with him until dawn and keep the good energy going.
Skate with your friends. Talk to your friends. Most of all, tell them you love them. Thank you for always being yourself, Ben. We miss you.

Cool thinking his family and friends will have this to look back on and watch this whenever they want. Not something alot of people are able to do.

I met Ben a few times at various events and go skate day 2 years ago in London. He had this energy that would get me so hyped to skate, I also met him when there was a volcom trip in 2017 and we shared laughs and had beers together outside slam city. I'm so glad to have shared those moments with him. So genuine, I'll never forget him.
It's collections of stories just like this one that, even if only briefly, bring beautiful people back to life. Thank you.

I lost my best friend to suicide. I know how painful it can be. I never met this guy but loved his skating and personality. My heart is sad.

After I saw the painting in his memory at Victoria skatepark in London a friend told me about Ben. I didn't know about this guy 5 hours ago and now I miss him. Funny af and an Incredible skateboarder.

I think that this is absolutely amazing. As I sit here half crying...thinking about how wonderful of a man he was. At the converse demo in Cinci Ben was so kind to my son when it came to answering his questions and just hanging out. Honestly, he was a truly good soul. We miss you, Ben! Roll in peace!

It's funny how a good honest cry can make you feel so much better. A lot of us are probably going through some times, but remember that you should be thankful for every time you get to wake up in the morning and experience the beauty around you. He had a way of making difficult things look so casual. This is something others have also done, but it was the way he did it, his style... Rest in peace Ben.

It still baffles me how mental issues affect people. On the outside, he looked like a pretty normal dude, happy even. Hanging out with friends, having fun, very lively, his energy was so intoxicating. Nobody could've seen this coming at all. For a suicidal person what it takes is just a snap, one split second of convincing, and it's over.

it always seems like the people who take their own life were always bringing positive energy to everyone around them while they were here. it goes to show how you never know what someone might be struggling with by looking from the outside. I know a lot of skaters including myself struggle with anxiety and depression, and I know how fucked up it is to not have anyone know what's going on inside. It's no one's fault, it's just a god damn shame is all.
