I got a mid-2010s Lasko box fan off the side of the road two or so months back the motor on it was going out, turned out. It had some shorted windings. I bypassed the fuse and let her rip. I gotta get the video up at some point..
I still remember my first burnt electronic smell. It was the old GE show and tell phono viewer. I think it was a capacitor I shorted while disassembling it. I was 5 or 6 and mom was not pleased.
The smell of cooked electronic components is a smell one will not forget easily.
