Would that be due to the fact, the sand fleas waste, can suddenly bring up the amount of Nitrates in the closed, sea water bait tank? Thus making the increased ammonia level toxic to bait fish? Frequent water changes, through out the day, should easily eliminate that problem.
This is so helpful. I got frustrated when the sand fleas I bought died very soon before feeding frenzy hours. The way you show us how to make it is easy to understand. Thank you.
I love informative videos like this, I’m getting ready to buy a casting net and a sand flea rake to up my bait game instead of store bought, prefrozen shrimps. This is perfect since all the buckets in finding go for 30$ or more for just one department! Can’t wait to see more! Tight lines bud!
Looks like a good way of keeping them when you have to use a cart. But if your able to bring an additional cooler. What Larry Finch does is fill the bottom of a cooler with ice then place a Styrofoam tray inside of the cooler with sandfleas and wet sand. He keeps them for days like that. It slows their metabolism and they pretty much go dormant.
Looks like a good idea. I just saw, another livewell cooler build, where the youtuber has a Solar Power bubbler. That was "pretty awesome"! Would it help to keep your bait bucket, a cooler temperature (& keep bait alive) in the summer heat, by digging a hole near the waters edge. Partially bury the bucket, into the cooler sand. Thus insulating and cooling the bucket? You could even allow fresh sea water to wash in & out, through a few top holes!
@@SaltSquatch Yea man I know . I am in the process of building a bigger cart for gear and a bigger cooler for when we get an offshore wind to use my balloon rig to go after bigger fish. Best wishes to you and yours.
One thing I might add is that you could use ice packs or frozen bottles of water instead of ice which will melt quickly and also effect the salinity of the water.

Most people don’t know that you keep your sand fleas separate from other bait because their waste will kill the other bait.
Big problem and ultimately effects how many fish you catch!

I can see that the second ice bucket isnt drilled so the waste wont hit the lower buckets but damn that's gonna be 1 stank bucket
Man, will it-
@@chrissewell1608 I watch to see when they dump their tank and change their water. Their good after that.
wow I like your idea . I'm going to home depot and start getting everything together . thank you for sharing . this is going to help me out 👍👍👍
You’re welcome! Let me know if you find ways to improve on the design with time. I’m always open to new ideas/suggestions!

Another great product, thanks for sharing. May have to incorporate it into my rig setup!
It’s a great solution for hours out in the heat! Saw your post on IG…glad to see your doing well with the surf trips!
Nicely done Phil!

Great video! Never seen one like that before
Thanks, Brad! Yeah I’ve been looking for something on the market, but no one makes it

That’s also a good idea! I don’t often being a cooler with me
@@SaltSquatch yeah I notice your beaches aren't drive on. I live in Volusia and our beaches allow vehicles. So I bring an extra cooler in my truck.
It would be really nice to have a beach in the area you can drive on!
@@SaltSquatch ran into Larry today in my neck of the woods. He gave me the 411 and I set up near him. Got 2 pompano 1 keeper. And alot of catfish.
Learn everything you can from the legend!
Awesome idea!!
Do you have a video of it actually in use? Would like to see the end result.
I will make sure to show some videos of it in use in the future!

I would have to think about that a bit more! The one thing I could see being an issue is rising/falling tides. I like the solar power concept!
Yes it will keep it cool....
Even burying it above the high tide line will keep them cooler than just sitting there in the sun........
Awesome. Good build.
Thanks! It was fun to figure out and I like things simple
@@SaltSquatch That is a great idea and an original one also. Great for combining live baits as a space saver on a cart.
I was carrying too much stuff on the beach for bait, so I decided to solve the problem!

I’ve been wanting to try balloon fishing on the beach. Let me know how you do!
Dude this is awesome!! Good video bro!!
Thanks, Tony! 👊🏻

Great advice! Definitely will last longer than ice
@@SaltSquatch no problem man! Works for mullet and other bait fish as well.
I’ve used the frozen water bottles in a cooler before. Lasts a long time
$20?
