I take the train (you can take your bike on trains here) from Oceanside to Old Town station. Heading west it is 3.4 miles to Ocean Beach and is a very straightforward ride. Heading east (as I do in this video) is more complicated as the path goes a couple of miles, then there's a street ride and it picks back up.
