- Riding a Decathlon Triban RC120 road bike on a gravel mountain bike trail at Aspey Heath Woods, Woburn, near Milton Keynes.
This is the road version of the Triban RC120, with the 28C road tyres, rather than gravel tyres, but still felt very capable in the trail and gravel conditions.

Just bought this bike. I hope to do some good touring with it. Thank you for your videos, they helped me a lot to know the bike
I’ve been riding the RC-500 with the standard road 28mm tires and also enjoying a bit of gravel and light off-roading.
I recommend this bike to those used to MTB, this bike is tolerant to the roughness of the road and is very smooth
I also bought rc120 disc a few months ago but i upgraded. It to a gravel version. I put the Gravel 38mm tyres and changed the Crankset for 46 30 insted of 50 34 that bike came with. I found 46 30 Crankset to be much more usable und suitable fot this bicycle and these modfications with new tyres costed me additional 120 euros. Now this bike si so much capable in riding offroad that it can keep up with some much more expensive mtb bikes that my friends have with no issue. Off course you can not ride extremely technical and rocky trails on it, but for 80% of terrain that you can ride with mtb you can ride with this bike plus it is faster on pavment roads. Such an amazing bicycle for less money...
What crank is this? What to change myself
@@lubo9094 it is a FSA crankset
@@Toretto16 do you know the model? Is this expensive one? Can you link me please. I’am buying the bike tomorrow. Thanks
@@Toretto16 what about breakers? Did you upgrade? Are stock one ok for wider tyres?
@@lubo9094
Off course they are good enough. I didn't have any kind of problem with the brakes doing descents offroad and I have close to 100 kg. :)
Hallo all, on the my RC120 i have mounting the panaracer gravelking+ 700x35 tires, flat bar by ritchey and selle Italia novus Endurance. In this mod the bicicle is very fast and funny! thanks for the video!!
More cycle content 🙂, I have a 520 RC with 40c and gravel bars an a few other. Tweeks and it's a hoot. And I do 30km a day commute on it as well. You have a new subscriber sir 👍
The bike set up sounds good!
Thank you for the support
Your insane dude ! I would be so out of control 🤯
thank you for sharing your video 👍
Those are the stock tyres?
Great video. I want to buy my first bike, should i get this one or the RC-500 DISC? thanks!!
Love your Triban videos.
Can I just ask if the shifting of the microSHIFT drive train on the RC120 comparable to say Shimano Claris or Sora groupset? Just wondering how smooth the microSHIFT drivetrain really is.
Thank U.
i think the microshift shifters are heavy and clunky feeling - i now have sora and tiagra on my two bike, the difference is night and day, defo invest in Sora
@@vlogsbyakkas343 personally I like the mechanical feel of microshifter over some shimano shifters
Love it!
Do you think I can fit gravel tyres into this bike? I wanna make mine into a gravel bike for when I take shortcuts off-road to and from work
Yes you can definitely go bigger on the tyres. Mine has 32c now but room to go bigger still
@@51North thank you!
What is the frame size of your bike?
Just realized you said you have a calibre bossnut, bit more than entry level, cracking bikes for the money
More than enough for me. I doubt I'll ever ride the bike at more than 50% of its capability, it is a lot of fun though.
Yezirrr
is Triban 500 good for first bike?
hell yes!
@@itstherealjammin too late, now im a fixed gear nut job passing roadies
Nice video. Where you have the camera and what’s kind of camera it is?
GoPro Hero 8, I do all my recording with this camera
Thank you! 👏👏
You put it up the head?
I use a chest mount. About £10 on eBay, maybe less
Hello. Nice video. Hows your height and inner leg? Which did you buy size?
5'10'', 32'' leg on a small frame. Decathlon recommend for my height to get the medium frame
@@51North but you bought S?
Yes S means small
@@51North thank you bro.
@@51North I wonder, how is your shifter? They are good? Did you think about that switch to shimano sora or anything?
what pressure are you riding?
Your saddle seems to be in low position, what's your height and what frame size did you choose ?
Saddle was dropped a couple of inches for the trail, but I am on the bigger size for this frame.
5'10'' on the small frame
Have you had to change your tyres on your bike yet? I hear that they are difficult to get on and off with the Triban RC 120 disc
Not yet, keep meaning to do the tyre change test. I've been using my MTB for the last few weeks, will dig the Triban out
@@51North amazing thank you, looking forward to hearing how it goes!
@@joshuasmith3331 Did a change to 38mm tyres from Decathlon yesterday. Can confirm that it is difficult to remove and put the new ones on. Will take you at least an hour to do the 1st one and then like 15mins for the second.
9 minutes to remove and fit tyres. Video should be up tonight!

can i use stock tires to go on trail?
Will be okay, especially if it's dry. When it's wet and muddy some more knobbly tread will really help
what size bike?
Small frame, I was caught between small and medium
@@51North nice I ended up with a xl. And was able to fit 700x38c tires.
OK, I'm buying rc120.
Sorry but any bloke driving his bike to a forest with a car to drive on his bike in that forest is a pansie.
You don't sound sorry to me
