Solid breakdown of the differences between these two, I really like them both. And as a stagehand I can confirm lots of bands use the SPD SX with Ableton.
Really cool video ! Thank you so much. But I still can't make a choice... Another thing is the price for a TM-6 solution is way more expensive (trigger module + pads).
i have a full set of DDrum Trigger and the USB Midi module for some of my VST and Reason Studio Drum sample stuff, but when i want to practice silent i also buy the TM-6 Pro ( because it's more realtime to use ...) put a bunch of remo silent stroke with roland trigger and you make your full acoustic set silent, it's also work fine with acoustic skin, the SPD X is more usefull when you want something compact for travel with just a snare and kick pad, also usefull for backing music loop track.
Hi there. Great video. I have recently purchased the TM6. Something trsange happened. I turned it off and some 3 days later turned it on but there was not sound coming out. It only started playing after factory resetting. I wonder if leaving my SD card inserted was the problem?
Great video, I’ve been sweating trying to figure out if I should sell my spdsx and grab a tm6, and I think I’m going to do just that! Quick question though, do one of the main outs act as a sub out on the tm6 just as it does on the spdsx? For instance, in case my band mates need some click in their heads but don’t want the click to go to the PA. Also, I’m assuming that would only work if I had a laptop around with a DAW, or can you manipulate that within the tm6module just like you can in the spdsx? Sorry that was a lot
Hi there. I have an issue. My drummer uses side stick and rim shot. He never uses centre for snare. The problem is that when he hits rim shot all I get is side stick. How can I resolve this problem. Otherwise it means that I can’t use the snare trigger. Thanks for your help.
Your drummer should use dual zone trigger on his snare drum so he will be able to set 2 different sounds on his snare drum, one sound on the rim and one sound on the head and the last step is to adjust the angle on snare drum based on his seat height and his playing style to make it easier for him to hit rim or head seperately .
Hi! i bought the roland tm 6 pro a few months ago to install it on my acoustic drums and I am having problems with over triggering, croos talk. Could you explain how to solve that problem?
@@themilksnatcher May I ask why not? I'm just curious. Would it be redundant or something? If so why? I'm sorry to bother you. I'm learning about this hybrid stuff currently.
@@muttweedz the sx is a great midi controller. You get the best of both worlds. But you would need a midi converter like a Kenton usb to midi as the 6 only has midi in on the DIN.

Did you set the right trigger type? Watch this: ua-cam.com/video/J7vXt5mFuBA/v-deo.html
does the TM6 require its own stand, or can I use my SPDSX stand?
Great question - The Roland TM6 Uses the same mounting plate as the SPDSX. Hope that helps you out!
Can i connect the tm-6 pro to the spdsx ?
MIDI
Yeah but why?
