      Thanks brother! It truly amazes me that oldies are still floating around. My cousin used to work at Burger King as a cashier. One time he got a standing liberty quarter and a barber quarter paid as regular change. He used to save all the oldies for me, I gave him pot in exchange 🤣

    Man score w the 1917, wonder if anyone else thinks about what was taking place in the world and where these coins could have been as you move thru these dates. 🤔👊🏻☮ Be well.

      Thanks brother! I’m definitely one of those guys! I feel the same way when I dig an old coin or relic out of the ground with assistance from my metal detector. Who was the last person that dropped what I just found. Gives me a heck of a rush! Thanks for watching brother 🙂👊🏼🍻☮️

      I heard some were made from unused brass sheets that were originally going to be used as shell casings idk how much truth is in that.@Scrap2Cast

    • @Scrap2Cast
      @Scrap2Cast  9 місяців тому

      @@ManMountainMetals that is 100% true. They call those shell case cents. 1946 they did some. Ever get an old copper penny that looked brass in color? Chances are that was a shell case cent 🙂

    Finally caught up.
    You mentioned in a couple of previous vids that you boss needed a couple of San Francisco coins for his collection. How impressive was that collection?
    Where is your Zinc bucket? Or are you just turning the pennies in to the other bank you mentioned?
    Have you ever come across the STEEL penny series?

    • @Scrap2Cast
      @Scrap2Cast  9 місяців тому

      Thanks brother! His Lincoln cent album ranged from 1941-1974 which are all common years and what I was half expecting. He had a really nice looking steel cent in there that he said he bought from a coin shop.
      Honestly I’ve never found a steel cent from coin roll hunting but I have found one in the rejection tray of a Coinstar machine at the supermarket. People get hyped up over steel cents but they are just common date coins, unless you find one dated 1944. Then you would have a nice fortune in your hand. One can only hope 🙂.
      Forgot to mention that I don’t save the zinc cents. I bring them to a bank 2 states away once a month and dump them in the banks coin sorter/counter. Chances are I wont search through those same cents again by doing it that way. 😁

    Are the older coins worth cleaning up? Or does the grime add to the value? I know with old firearms collectors like them to look old.

    • @Scrap2Cast
      @Scrap2Cast  9 місяців тому +1

      Rule of thumb is never clean a coin. It takes away up to 30-40% of the value. Common date coins in garbage condition, by all means clean it up. If it’s already in bad condition, you can’t do much harm to them by making them look “nicer”
