Robin Scott still definitely has it after all these years. He sounds just like he did in 1979! They played the hell out of this song on the radio back then. AMAZING. Rock on Robin.........
joevs21001 Your observation on the '79 airplay adds to my hunch on prescience : "Everybody's played it.", as well as "If you wanna be a gunslinger, don't be a rock singer". Heck, the lip-synch gag in the music video presaged what we now call "the Milli Vanilli fiasco".
I loved this song in 79, my mother banned this song in our house because I played it so much, lol and I love it now, this recording is awesome. way ahead of it's time, how many recordings are done with djs, Robin's a huge reason that's happening, he helped influence a whole generation of musicians, hall of fame credential
What a pro to come out for his one song and sell the heck out of it like that. When you can light up that place in the space of one song and walk off, you have done something!!
What a entrence , first time I saw him live with popmusik and he brought 3 beautifull girls with him . In this performance he was 62 a 63 years old. its still a song in my own top 100 ...
M's (Robin Scott) second album "The Official Secrets Act" released in 1980 is extremely good and well worth a listen.. He's 68 (69 in April) and is in darn good shape by the looks in this video. According to wiki he's working with his son on recorded music projects.
ALWAYS LOVED/LOVE THIS SONG! Have ticked a lot of people off playing it OVER AND OVER AND OVER 🤣💞💃🏻🎶🎉 Too bad.. so sad.. Middle aged and STILL DOING IT ❣
Brlliant!...joyful....this guy is an artist's artist...'The Official Secrets Act' is among the top 5 greatest albums I've ever heard...a visionary....thanks for posting.
30 years later, he still sounds the same, and seems like he was having a blast. omg I remember this from when i was 10 I see what he's doing wearing that outfit! Shows how silly it is! Great performance!
If they would make this song now, again it would be a hit ! Its always arround you .... the 80ties where the best music years for sure ! ! ! ! BTW verry good performance from Scott. We yoused to see him in costumes ...
more energy... from the original... Thanks for posting... I was in middle school when this song came out and life was much more easy and simple Incredible! Better than I remember. Great performance!
This was the first track bought for me by a hopeful boyfriend prospect at school in 1979. I still love it. But no he never did get to be my boyfriend (sorry Alex).
That certainly looked like a fun concert to be at. In my early 60's I would have had fun being there. (I know or met people in my age group or a few years older than me, and they do not 'Rock and or Roll' at all like I do. I grew up in a 'Rock and or Roll' world in the early 60's.)
...and it needed the rear shocker mounting/bush replacing - I was 17 at the time and got my old Dad to help ! - He had the scooters rear end in pieces all over the back lawn -In a methodical way ! -And of course on a Sunday night we had radio1 's top20 playing on the radio as we were working - This great song was number 1 - Following day I bought myself a single 45 - 50p - Yesterday I bought a 4 track 10" single EP pink vinyl - Picture sleeve £17-99 (yep!) - But it brought back some great memories - Miss my Dad & I miss my scoot but Those memories are mine...
that's Robins brother Julian in green tee shirt at the back playing bass. I believe he played most of the instruments on the original played in a few bands with Julian since.
Pop Music was one of my favorite songs in 1979. I was 13 good times.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I was in grade eight in a jr. highschool. You had it easy.
I was 13 as well
I was 19 and going to Gigi's nightclub in Glasgow.
Me too. 13. I loved 1979
Same here!
Respect for not lip syncing like most of the 80s bands when they perform their old hits.
Totally agree. But i guess it wasn't there choice for them , some venues made them.
No that's bollocks.... live bands these days lip sync
Most amazing t o me about this video is that most of the people in that audience probably weren't even born when this song was a hit.
Good taste throughout the generations 🎉
Good to see new people hearing old music.
Sup grandad
Thinking the exact same thing.
I wasn't. I was born in 1985, but I love this song
30 years later, he still sounds the same, and seems like he was having a blast.
42 years
That's what's up!
Pity he couldn't act his age instead of trying to look like rapper wanka.
@@chrisblue46 its a bit of fun. I bet you're fun at parties XD
@@chrisblue46 I totally agree with you
This song was wayyyyyyyyyyy ahead of its time.

@@floydjohnson7888 Yes, Robin was ahead of his time, and a major influence on today's music.

amazing!thumbs up if youre listening to this in 2011 and STILL feels as good!
In 2022 August. Still great
I think that is Phil Gould on drums. He was drummer on recording and founded Level 42
When this recording was released - Way back when -1978 - I had just bought a vespa ralley 200 ...
...and it needed the rear shocker mounting/bush replacing - I was 17 at the time and got my old Dad to help ! - He had the scooters rear end in pieces all over the back lawn -In a methodical way ! -And of course on a Sunday night we had radio1 's top20 playing on the radio as we were working - This great song was number 1
- Following day I bought myself a single 45 - 50p -
Yesterday I bought a 4 track 10" single EP pink vinyl - Picture sleeve £17-99 (yep!) - But it brought back some great memories - Miss my Dad & I miss my scoot but Those memories are mine...
...Thanks for sharing !
It was released in 1979, not 1978.
