My god I feel old. Adam faith takes me back to the 60s. Freddie could have had a good career as a singer but he just could keep it serious enough.. Comedy was his game.
Watching these two was like watching flashbacks to my youth..
Oh where did those years go..

Adam Faith was a big popstar and hearthrob in the 60's. He transistioned to to movies and TV. I remember him in Budgie from the 1970's. So sad that he died too early.

I loved 'Budgie' (Adam Faith), he was a great character and the TV series made several 'newcomers' very famous starting out; especially 'Charlie Endell' (Ian Cuthbertson). That TV programme also made a star of Lynn Dalby (playing 'Hazel' - who I had a 'crush' on!). Another actor, John Rhys-Davies (playing 'Laughing Spam Fritter'), went off to America and has starred in so many US TV programmes and many major films...

The first song Freddy was singing "What do you want, if you don't want money" Was a hit in the UK for Adam Faith in the UK in the 60's. He went on to acting starring in a 70's TV show called "Budgie" Also had a lead role in a Movie "Stardust" then went on to write a newspaper financial column on the stock markets. Which they referred to in this clip.

Adam Faith did a similar skit with Bruce Forsyth in 1960 (when he was in his pomp). There is some black and white footage of Adam Faith on Shindig backed by the Blossoms performing 'It's All Right.' A song which bizarrely made it onto the 'Good Morning Vietnam' soundtrack. He also has an entry in the Book of Famous Last Words. While watching TV in his hospital bed "Channel 5 is complete shit, isn't it?"

For those who say Adam Faith was a singer turned actor, in fact it wasa t'other way around. He knew he wasn't a great singer, but didnt care as his ambition was always to be an actor, which is why his first job was in the London film industry, which was (and still is ) based in Soho, which in the 50s had plenty of nightspots and skiffle clubs where he worked with his band to pay the bills.

Adam Faith was a very popular singer with many big UK hits from 1959 to 1964, then came a slow down in his music career. He had one hit in the US 'It's Alright' in 1964. By the early 70s became an actor and starred in a TV series 'Budgie', then moved into movies notably 'Stardust' with David Essex and Larry Hagman; 'Foxes' with Jodie Foster and 'McVicar' with Roger Daltrey, after which he returned to television in the 1980s. Later he became a financial adviser with a newspaper column but still toured playing his old hits for the nostalgia crowd. In 2003, after performing on stage in a play, he died of a heart attack aged 61.

The song is called 'it doesn't matter anymore' and was sung by an American Rock N Roll singer called Buddy Holly who if not had died in a tragic plane crash with the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens would probably have been as big as Elvis Presley. Check out some of hit hits I'm sure you will love them.

Adam Faith lived in Henfield in Sussex, UK.
A colleague of mine lived there also. My colleague told me he was once in Henfield centre walking along the pavement when the man in front of him pointed across the road and shouted "It's Budgie!" The character Budgie was one of Adam Faith's best known characters.
Adam Faith stopped walking and looked across the road at where the sound came from, and noticed the man pointing. AF ran across the road and grabbed the man by his neck, our him against a wall and said "My name is Adam Faith". The man said, "I am sorry Mr Faith".
Adam let the man go. The man was very surprised and shocked. Adam then calmly asked the man how he is and calmly chatted with him for a few minutes. They shook hands and Adam crossed over the road and walked off. The shaken man then looked at my colleague and said, "I should never have called him Budgie.
Vis à vis Freddie Starr. He is perhaps the only man to scare living hell out of Muhammad Ali and actually move his hand quickly to a few inches from the side of Ali and not get punched.
Ali famously said "Just this makes my whole trip to the UK worth it. I am going to go home and remember this forever."

You have to know who Adam Faith is, before you get this sketch. Faith is from the 60s, and this sketch is from the 80s. So he was 20-25 years out of his time.
But Adam Faith is classic British Rock 'n' Roll.
Freddie Starr is "of his time"; band his comedy hasn't aged well (with rare exceptions to the rule).

Freddie was the funniest person on tv, through the 70's to 90's. Unfortunately he wasn't pc enough and to edgy as times changed. Seeing it all for the first time was amazing, there was no one like him before or since. He also sang seriously and there is footage of him with his band doing entire shows just singing. He was great at that too.
