Shake off the sawdust and play some music under the apple tree on a warm summer morning! The guitar is an early 1928 wood Triolian with the anemone flowers on the back that has been restored by my friend Mike Lewis at Fine Resophonic Guitars in Paris.
Brilliant not just technique but with feeling.
Thanks!
I love this. I told my wife to have this played when they scatter my ashes.
I'm on the verge of tears...so beautiful. Im going to learn this when I get my resonator next week for sure. Thank you Gottfried.
Wow, thank you so much Kenneth...Happy New Year!

As a guitarist this is the best, most soulful version I have heard...played from the heart. I fully concur with the Jeff Beck comment. Beautifully done my friend!

Man. I just keep coming back to this. I think if I made it to heaven and handed Jesus my guitar and he played exactly what I just heard here, I would be thinking “yah. Wow. That’s what I thought it would be like here. This is gonna be great. I am so glad I made it.”
Wow, thank you so very much for your kind words David!
@@gottfriedgfrerer it’s really really good and now I hear others who have obviously been influenced by your interpretation of this piece and made videos also. They really should mention you. Yours is the best slide guitar Version of Amazing Grace I have heard.

I was looking for something worthy of finally putting a slide on my left hand after 40 years of finger picking. This drew me in slowly with more and more intricacy and intimacy on the melody, with some nice left-hand techniques as well...think I'll give it a go, thanks for the post!
Thank you very much!

I don't think I can remember hearing a better version on guitar, good move playing it in open D.
❤️🙏
Thank you so much!
Gottfried David Gfrerer hi Gottfried, the reason I love your version mate is because the song basically
is not meant to be a song you jam on or see how many licks you can put into it. You letting the song
breathe I think, helps retain its intentional meaning. The song is about the lyrics and when you read about the authors
life and the grace God showed that man, you just don't want to be distracted by extraneous extra notes.
Nicely done and it's beautiful sounding National Steel. I hope you have a great New Year mate.
❤️🙏
PS I hope I didn't rave too much.😂
@@michaelhayman2549 Nope :-)
Thank you
Great work beautiful.
Thanks a lot!
amazing friend
Thank you!
best amazing grace for real...
Thank you so very much!
Gonna work on my own arrangement of this, but looking through a dozen versions on UA-cam for inspiration, yours is the best!
MaceGill, thank you for your kind words, I wish you much inspiration for your version!
Battle Hymn of the republic
This guy REALLY makes me wish I could finger pick better...
I've played guitar for years but I'm brand new to playing with a slide...it's awesome, can't wait till I can sound like this
Thank you so very much!
@@gottfriedgfrerer I started off playing classic rock jazz, and folk music. Eventually I started playing more modern rock and metal, but that was just because the band I was in went that direction. Over the last few years I've been listening to alot of bluegrass and decided I wanted to learn to play with a slide...it looked easy at first because it's all open tuning but then you start playing and realize you need to do alot more work with your picking hand than before...it's kind of backwards from how I've learned so far...it was all about moving the other hand and fingers faster to hit more notes, now it's more stationary but you have to be MUCH more accurate with your picking and each finger can be at their own tempo...
I watched some of your other videos too before my first comment, so if you have any tips I'd really appreciate it...
@@joshwiltgen7209 You are absolutely right - playing slide guitar is a little bit like flying a helicopter. Right and left hand damping is very important for a clean sound and there is an endless range of microtones in between two notes, which can change the mood of a tune dramatically. Playing a lot is the key :-)
I love your sound ✌
Thanks :-)
You sir have talent!
Thanks a lot, I am very pleased!
Que música bem executada parabéns e felicidades
You got it, dude!

Man I wish you would do a lesson on that
Great job !
Amazing Thanks
Thank you so much!
1:58 onwards, somehow Ravi Shankar came out of the guitar. Amazing playing, I love it.
That's interesting to hear, thank you so very much!
True, although to me the tone of that resonator sounds closer to a veena than a sitar. Beautiful sliding, in any case.
Sounds amazing friend!
Thank you so much!
moved me :)
That's great to hear, thank you!
EXCELLENT VIDEO
I am going to learn this! I taught myself Amazing Grace in D on my G harp (2nd position/cross harp. Too much to explain here.) years ago. The bends make it sound very similar.
You sound GREAT!!
I need a resonator bad(ly).
That is interesting! Thanks a lot Andrew!
