Not really... happens now and happened in immigrant groups constantly for centuries. They are able to take advantage of the fact that they might not know the local language, don't have any roots in the community, and can threaten to do harm to their relatives back home. This was a big part of how the Italian Mafia got started in America and elsewhere. Also big in Chinatowns over the years.

Such bravery she had to leave her home country to have a better life abroad. I'm also an expat, an American in England. It really is a very brave thing to do. Expats are generally alone when they land here if they aren't coming here to be with a spouse/partner. I wish I'd had family, like this poor woman had, with her sister waiting for her. It's tough being alone in a new country and it's near impossible to make new friends when most people already have their closest friends group well established since elementary school.
It's awful and especially unjust when it happens to such exceptional people. But i notice that she was so respected for being hard working and engaged in her community that it meant even the police knew who she was from the time she'd given up for them. I'm sure it increased enthusiasm for her case, where unfortunately the police usually do not have it
This is gross so I apologise in advance. My dad is Glaswegian and came from poverty. Even though he’s far from poor now he sometimes buys cheap food like weird cuts of meat to see if it’s how he remembers. A couple of months ago he put pigs feet, trotters and all, in the slow cooker. The next morning I came round with my mate who is a firefighter to check his smoke alarms. I said “what on earth is that smell”?! And my mate said it smelled similar to some scenes he’d attended where parts of people had started to slowly burn up or “melt”. I lifted the lid in horror to see these pig legs bubbling in a greyish broth. I almost hurled. The whole thing went in the outside bin and I’m mentally scared for life 🤦🏻♀️😂
My family is from Lithuania and I can tell you many people from that country are very hard working poor Yolanda taking care of not only herself but actually sending money back home to people that did not treat her well growing up That says a lot about her character and dor her to be so happy that she shared her joy with a friend about saving up money just to have it happen like this Glad they were caught May she rest in peace

Glad to see you naming the videos after the victims rather than the perpetrators. It's so easy to start sensationalizing peoples real tragedies and it starts by losing sight of the people who were harmed, and its important to keep their memory alive first.

For example, lets say you have one murderer caught, but there is a second one. By giving the one murderer an incentive, you get a second one caught. Otherwise it might just be that the other one will never be caught. Also, older crimes might get solved. Serial Killers are usually investigated for exactly one crime (the one that got them caught), but there might be others linked to it. By giving an incentive (e.g. no death penalty in some countries), the police can solve other cases. Obviously, it seems strange that someone commits a horrible crime and then gets rewarded for admitting what they did or giving out information, when they would not be in this situation if they would not have committed the crime in the first place. But overall, I think it helps.

There were no plea deals in this case. The years mentioned were earliest possible probation. They won’t get it bc they’re garbage humans.
