awesome video Dave...I dig your style...question, do you use any type of clear coat after painting to preserve it? my rock guys added some type of clear coat after painting and I'm trying to decide if this is needed. I'm planning some touch up on my own after being inspired by your video...thanks again

Thanks for your kind words Ben! Appreciate it. On your clear coat question, there are some faux rock guys that do use those products. And I do believe that they may extend the life of the paint/stain on the rockwork. For me in the past I've tried a clear coat but it made things too shinny and I believed a little slippery. However, that was a long time ago and one of the best rock guys out there I know does use a clear seal so I may add it to my strategy... Just haven't done it yet. Hope that helps. Anyway, if you'd like to check out more fake rock how-to's, including free pdf downloads you can go to www.davehenderson.podia.com Plus my blogs and links to other platforms are at www.daverhenderson.com Best of luck in all you do! Hey Dave, thanks for the pro tips. Do you use a specialty paint for the rock work under the waterline?

Hi Spencer, Thanks for the message. For paint I use high quality exterior latex house paint. Usually around $40 to $50 bucks or so. This goes on all the rockwork above and below waterline. I do try to educate all my clients in regard to chlorine levels in the water, (bleaches the rocks) and isn't so good for swimmers when elevated. I tell them it's better to have a few spots of algae here or there and less going into peoples bodies. Bottom line, I tell them is over time the color will be bleached away though it being below water isn't usually very noticeable till its pretty extreme. Anyway, if you'd like to check out more fake rock how-to's, including free pdf downloads, you can go to davehenderson.podia.com Plus my blogs and links to other platforms are at www.daverhenderson.com. Thanks again for the question. Cheers, Mr. Dave :)
