Much better at shooting 3's than NBA teams...have you seen a game recently? Good news for the DUCKS - a team shooting over 50% from 3 will not happen again this year. Tip you hat to Illinois! Get ready for the next game.
Illinois did this to Arkansas earlier this year, they are gonna be a tough out when their top 3 play well, but when your 4th and 5th guys and bench play like that, they’ll beat anyone
Illinois on the road, playing a top 10 opponent in an unfamiliar environment and Oregon just doesn't bother to show up. The crowd didn't show up. The team didn't show up. Second loss at home with some tough teams ahead. You really don't want to dig too deep of a hole entering conference play. Oregon has some tough questions to answer. Coach Altman is all class, and I don't think he means to take away from Illinois; I think he's saying Oregon really messed up to make Illinois look that good. I think he's wrong. Illinois keeps getting better and Oregon CAN play worse.
ILL played well but Oregon played god awful. I dont expect them to repeat that performance. ILL didnt even play to their potential, which is crazy given they won by 30. Crazy game. ILL has the highest ceiling of any team in the B10, and their development so far this season is definitely noticeable.
Those european players are no joke wouldnt be surprised if they get drafted high like the commentators were saying their draft stock should be going up after this game
Altman said of "They're not that good" after Illinois beat them by 32 and Illinois moved to a NET tanking of 5. Yes, Illinois shot well but Illinois also has many weapons and does not depend on 1-3 players like most teams. Illiois can have 4 players have an off night and still beat you with 5-6 players playing well. Illinois is still figuring it out and has not jelled yet or even hit their ceiling.
Agree that Illinois just came out in Beast mode to start second half. Oregon looked stunned after that. They battled back but Illinois just kept ballin' on all cylinders.
He said one team was well coached and one team wasn’t and that one team was prepared and one team wasn’t. He also said he got his ass kicked and that they didn’t guard nobody. Not sure what else you want him to say…
Oregon coach should take a page from Brad Underwood and show some respect, win or lose. To say Illinois isn’t “that” good…..you just got smoked by 32! C’mon
@@duane23esYeah, that was some defensive bs. He was just short of claiming the Illinois were "lucky" rather than acknowledging the Ducks got rogered by a very talented team.
Yea - not once did he give credit to how great Illinois played. Quicker, better, poised and better shooters both at the 3 and on the drive - that was Illinois. In terms of 3’s made, Illinois made 4 more 3’s than normal - 12 more points - does not explain a 30 point blow out. KJ was the best player on the court and he will only get better. Welcome to the Big Ten!
Nice excuse. How about they played a more talented team by far. A team that young gets better at much higher clip. Nba scouts were there for a couple illinois players. Not anybody from Oregon
The numerical rankings systems NET, KenPom, Bartovik had the Illini rated higher than the AP and Coach's polls. Illinois has virtually a new team from last year with 4 guys in their first year of college basketball. The Euro guys have been playing at tougher levels for awhile. It was always going to be a process bringing this team together and Brad Underwood has them ahead of schedule. Getting Humrichous, Davis, and Dre Gibbs-Lawhorn playing with confidence makes the depth a real 9 deep. Wait until Will Riley gets rolling.
...but they're not that good!!!😂 You & your squad just got slapped! You should refer back to this game & don't never, ever coach/play like that again! You obviously should worry about the top 40 teams. Go Maryland! ILLINOIS 🏀
That run at the start of the second half drew a comment from the announcer that Illinois had just punched OR in the mouth and we would see how Oregon responded. We saw it it wasn't good. Illinois just had its way with them.
You are a clown commenting on UA-cam about what a Hall of Fame Basketball coach said, relax dude. Dana has seen a lot of basketball in his 45 years as a coach.
@@chriseberle8363 Hey my friend. I'm not one of the ones who was taking issue with Dana saying "they're not that good," and gloating. I didn't even notice him saying it. I thought he was classy, I thought he took responsibility as the coach, and the only difference that I have with him is that I think in the sting of the moment, he underestimated Illinois a touch. I am grateful and happy that we won. The Illini are that good, and they're getting better, though I'm glad we will not see the Ducks again in the regular schedule with a huge chip on their shoulder. In my 50 years of watching college basketball I have seen second meetings go the other way, way too often. Brad has a ton of respect for Dana, and in his postgame predicted that Dana will get the team righted and moving forward again very quickly. Good luck to Oregon and welcome to the Big Ten.
@chriseberle8363 you commenting on my comment makes me laugh...gtfoh. I take nothing away from his coaching. It was directed towards his last comment about ILLINOIS. Chill foo 🥳🤣
Drove all the way from Portland the watch The Worse Game, I have ever seen Oregon play at Matt Knight Area! Oregon players looked terrible in all aspects . . . .
@@beautifulportland9592 Bro it wasn’t all that bad. Really just think about it, you actually got a chance to witness college basketball history. How many ppl can say that…? That was the biggest road win over a top ten team EVER!!
Lol not really. Ill started 0-7 from 3 and Top two players coming into this game scored 0 in the first half. 2nd leading scorer had 8 points total on 3-8 FGs 3rd leading scorer had 5 points on 2-5 FGs. Both of them are capable of handling out 20 pieces, all flats, no sides, easy work. Truthfully only about 2 starters and 2 guys off the bench played well. Everyone else was Mid to not so much.
Illinois is still figuring it out with all the new (and young) players and has not even jelled yet or even hit their much higher ceiling. Best is still to come.
Actually Illinois gave up way too many uncontested drives to Oregon, so defensively Illinois didn’t play as good as they could….. but they played as good as they needed to!🏀 Welcome to the BIG 10.
Nah, they were off in the first half. Their bench saved them. My comment was that the starters would revert to the mean in the second half, and they did, because their average is about where they played all second half.
Illinois looks like a damn pro team WTF

You also can't shut down one Illinois point guard, because Illinois has 5 decent ball handlers who can bring the ball up.

Rosebowl 2.0 it seems like. I didn't know the energy of a football game. Would cause us to lose so badly at home against a lower ranked big ten team.

Lower ranked Big Ten game. Eh now. Just so you are aware that Illinois has won the conference 3 times in the past 5 years actually.
