This version of the song really hit me hard the first time I watched the music video, I was literally in tears. As someone who suffers with depression the lyrics and the video combined really shows how it feels when you get into that deep depressed state like you mentioned the whole world is falling apart around you. Great reaction, you got a new sub here.
We both remember this song very well from our teenage years. We're both heavily effected by tones of melodies and it being performed in this way really put us in the better mind set for this song, and then actually listening to the lyrics this time around it was almost like having a friend call out for help but you never really heard them. This rendition actually made me feel very guilty for not hearing Jacoby the first time around. Thank you so much for sharing and thanks for the sub :p

I've seen other people making the comment that Papa Roach's version is the angry teenager and Ronnie's is the broken adult. I think that covers the difference between them perfectly.

I know the original and like it but I never paid attention to the lyrics. I cried halfway through the first time I watched. Almost every reactor I have watched is close to if not speechless.

Ronnie really added a whole new dimension to this song. His voice is so beautiful. He has devloped a lot as a person over the years too. Totally love it!
The original is sung with anger. This version is sung with desperation.
The original version was full of the teen/young adult angst and the new version has the middle aged sadness and despair. Given the years that each song came out, they speak to the same audience at different points in life.

Did you guys know he's the same guy who sang "Situations" and "Not Good Enough for the Truth in Cliché" from the first Escape the Fate album? You should look into that. You'll probably know them when you hear them. It's just crazy how much this man has progressed throughout his career.

To use that desperate and lonely we needed this song in slow mo we never understood it cuz the anger but now we get it
The only thing we can say is an amazing cover he understand what the song is about he understand that is a cry for help so in order to do this cover like he did u have to not only understand the song but im sure this song probably helped him in the past like have helped to many people the fact that both videos give u different perspective of the song the original is like ok u r not alone u have your own problem but hey we all have them and we are not alone and in this version u can see how the world is crumbling down is tearing apart but at some point he says “i cant go on living this way” and start the healing this song is a masterpiece

i had same reaction when i heard song for the first song, i recognized title, and i was like, "huh" same names as Papa Roachs song"... played first seconds and was like "OH wait..."

The original is an angry boy this version is a tortured sad man
I think Ronnie gives the text the right, worthy framework. The Papa Roach version is too rocky for the seriousness of the lyrics. That's exactly what Ronnie conveys in this song, the pain and the fight with and against evil thoughts. Surely only people who have psychological problems and fight their demons every day can understand this. How often her mental world collapses and threatens to bury her. How many times do you think, “I can’t go on like this” and fight your way out, only to find again and again, “Nothing is okay.” But you keep fighting, every day. They fight with all their strength against being buried under their collapsing world. The sad thing is that too many people lose this battle, ultimately running out of strength and being buried under their collapsing world.
