Dirt 2 is one of the first PC games to support DX11.
DX11 was used to apply tessellation on water (enhanced ripple effect), cloth simulation (flag), and crowds in Dirt 2.
I remember being wowed by the water ripples on the ps3 version😂 .
Dirt 2 one of the greatest racing games of all time still play it on xbox 360 fact that the xbox360 era is the best according to the racing games almost

I tried playing gravel and the game is lifeless . I’m back to playing dirt 3 and then dirt 2.
DiRT 2 will always be my favorite modern rally game. Such a nice balance in the simcade handling, atmosphere, gameplay, and presentation. Also a bit sombering in the fact that while this game was made in tribute to Colin Mcrae, it sorta has become one for Ken Block to me too. More so than DiRT 3 has.

9:00 I'm pretty much agree. I feel like the fun part of sim racing is the difficulty of how much more realistic and harder to drive the cars. However, the downside is that you NEED to do it for yourself. And with the combination of trying to be realistic, you can't share this fun aspect by just showing it to other people. Sure you still can tell them, but "tell" is different with "show"
Kuru you always manage to break everything. I played this game for years and never saw people stuck at the finish let alone blocking the track

Ive never been big into serious Rally games, but this one ( just like GRID) hits different :)
And just like GRID iam suprised how much game/ content they could get out of 10GB of harddrive space. Iam suprised they never made any DLC for it, although the PSP version seems to have many more loactions.

Thanks Kuru! I'm about to play DiRT 2 for the first time in a while... and was Hoping for some recent content!! I only have a PS3 and XBox360... don't feel sorry for me - I'm OK with that. I mostly only play driving games - I have 65! I just surpassed my age (64) when I bought NFS MW 05 a few weeks ago! €52!!! My most expensive game by far but I obvs Needed it! DiRT 2 is definitely in my Top 5! Ty for your great content!
Would you like to give shift 2 one more run, but with either put Gtyres+Ptmu handling mods or Unofficial patch 1.2
Gtyres with Ptmu enhance the handling physics only but patch 1.2 gives a lot of fixes, addition , and changing the gameplay so far

Sims are just way too serious. Like, I have a regular 9-5 as well as travel etc. I just really like simcade (more arcadey) tbch. Its fun you get on you play, you get off good time.

Dirt 2 was amazing my only complaint would be career mode dragged on too long, same as NFSU2 basically, same cars, same events you just do it more to reach the end

is the atmosphere in colin mcrae: dirt 2 closer to nfs prostreet or forza horizon 1?
It's not open world, there's not much emphasis on the festival itself unlike Prostreet where the announces mentions different things about your performance or your car, there's not much sense of progression like there is in Prostreet so mostly it's unlike either of the other 2.

This was an S tier game. I did everything in it, though I’m still missing the two online achievements despite having weeks of playtime.
The online “race weird class/track combos” aspect is something I haven’t seen us get since. Rallycross at Ensenada, trophy trucks at China or LA, Trailblazer at Croatia’s narrow roads, it wasn’t always ideal, but definitely fun.
I play Dirt 3 online and host lobbies like this all the time with ACAT mod. There's actually a video on my channel
That’s kinda the sad thing. I know there’s a mod for Dirt 3 and Dirt 1 but you didn’t need a mod for it in this game. It was just like that. I think the only thing you can’t do in that regard is specifically quick races offline in that fashion? AI probably wasn’t designed for Trailblazer at Malaysia…
@@Exponaut_R-01 I am utterly clueless why would the devs remove such a cool, kickass feature that made the game 100x more fun. I mean, not only switching the car category, but also turning a rally event into essentially rallycross.
Dirt 2, Pro Street's weird short-lived friend, I wish it oriented more on traditional rally while keeping the X Games theme.
I got a PS3 for my birthday a couple of months ago and I bought Dirt2 for 5€! It's still available for dirt cheap (pun intended)
This game is just perfect, the Soundtrack is something I come back to very often.

I think if Kuru has said all those things he'd like to see about the game like Dirt2, or its successor, he missed out Gravel. It's pretty much the same, but more modern.
I seriously relate to that, games just not having the fun factor anymore. The last racing game i ever clicked with was forza horizon 3. The latest game i could just nerd about 24/7 was cyberpunk and that was years ago.
We need more Arcade Racing Game like this!
