thank you for posting about sulli and hara. there's a reason they're iconic and it's not just because of their visuals, but the things they did for women (or to help them).
it's crazy, i remember all of this like it was yesterday. k-pop stans hated her, but women in korea who weren't into idol culture celebrated her. even K-MeU's were horrible to her for a while after she left f(x). feminism was making waves on the internet in all corners of the world, and women were crucified for it. as someone who has been a huge fan of her since debut it's hard seeing countless young k-pop stans sensationalize Sulli's death. Jinri was so much more than what she suffered. she was a huge role model and a big reason why i decided to go into political science and became interested in gender equality studies. rest in power, Jinri. you deserved so much more.
When I heard you say she passed at 25 it really reminded me how young she was and going through all the hate. Sulli was only one year older than me but now I'm almost 30 and she's forever 25. I wish the world had been better to Sulli.
I still remember when the news broke that Sulli (R.I.P.) took her own life; I was inconsolable for 4 days. I had never cried for any one’s death, celebrity or family, prior to her, that was a truly sad day/week. I continue to miss Sulli, may her soul rest in peace ❤
This is something I will never forgive netizens for. They are responsible for this young, beautiful, and talented woman’s death. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. This girl didn’t bother anyone. She was never in any trouble. None of that behavior was warranted
I dont want to hear anything about mental health ever again, from korean netizens and international kpop fans alike. This year has been one of the worst years in kpop in terms of groups, especially girl groups getting massive hate trains, fanwars, harassment, gaslighting and mistreatments. Im not even going to mention them since theres so many that have been affected. No one will ever learn. With that said, sulli never did anything wrong and never once deserved not even an ounce of what she faced. When she died I literally went crazy for months. I'm over it now, but of course I still miss her tremendously.
such a depressing experience for sulli. the fact that idols are still getting hate to this day still hurts me. i hope other kpop stans who r currently criticising other idols stop before it actually damages the artist. once again thank you all-kulture for making a video. some people are mad and want sulli to rest, and as yes she should, thank you for giving new kpop stans this story and awareness so that they know that before they hate someone they should rethink and wonder "why are we hating in the first place and how will this idol take that hate".
We don’t really know why Sulli took that decision. That she did it because of online hate is just a theory. Also most of the criticism kpop idols face is because of their lack of skills. If you don’t have the skills to be an idol, then just find another job. Remember that Sulli also had a terrible boyfriend who was way older then her and Sulli just turned 18.
@@vixxexo6855 it’s not just lack of skills. have you seen the hate idols have been getting? it’s not just about how they perform the moment a female kpop idol is next to a male is the moment where fans will get violent and start getting aggressive towards female idols. or when they get called a “pick me” for doing nothing and then lowers there self esteem. it’s disgusting that you just calmly say “there not good enough for the job”. yeah if i went through a breakup and then the media starts talking about how I am pregnant of my hiatus, yeah that would hurt me personally. and also sulli did not just die of “hate” no one knows the real reason. it’s just i remember the load of hate she was getting and it was so sad. so whether or not she died because of it, it’s still going to this day, and maybe it didn’t affect her death but it can affect others.
@@vixxexo6855 no idols get harassed for every little thing they do for example , V for posting a McDonald’s photo from 2 years ago, Karina for dating , Somi for drinking Starbucks , Jeongyeon for gaining weight despite her having a illness , Aespa in their debut era for being 4 members like blackpink , Jennie for being in “the idol” , Wonyoung for eating a strawberry , also her for eating pizza , Rami and Chiquita for imitating Rosé and Lisa , Minnie for wearing Thai traditional clothes which apparently is coping Lisa despite both being Thai , Shuhua for going outside during her hiatus, Tzuyu for waiving her country flag etc. It seems like you didn’t see the video fully cuz you would know Sulli was hated for don’t wearing a bra!
@@vixxexo6855 it may not have been the main contributor but definitely one of the reasons. She has had multiple interviews practically begging people to stop with their conspiracies and hate when they don’t even know her as a person. And for idols who aren't as talented, you can criticise them in a constructive manner, not hate them like they’ve burned an orphanage or something. And that's what happens… the bandwagon of mindless cattle mooring the same morphed sentiment of hate takes it too far stampeding everything that idol has worked for. People improve and people deteriorate too during their careers. The idea is to show the idols some grace. You don’t need to baby or defend every breath they take and you also don’t need to go behind everyone and everything they've worked for and upon. It’s not edgy or cool to hate people or spread negative sentiments regarding people you barely know (Exceptions being the ones who are confirmed involved in crimes). Unless they've personally wronged you, no one deserves the unleashing of people’s wrath. And just singing bad or not dancing well enough isn't enough reason to receive years-long hate trains. If you don't like their content, just don't engage with it. If you can't control your anger, go to a therapist. People talk about mental health all the time while dehumanizing people who appear to us on the internet since our primitive brains can't comprehend them to be human too.
the industry promotes unhealthy diets and body image in general, so i wouldn’t say she started becoming obsessed with her weight because of just that one guy. it was def a combination of different things she heard. also it’s literally impossible to lose weight in certain areas while keeping weight in the others. every person’s body is different. that guy was delusional. edit: i also think it didn’t help that SM gave her the cutesy little sister image. the public wanted her to act innocent forever to maintain that image even though she was getting older and becoming an adult. she didn’t deserve all that bullying. society is so much less forgiving to female idols
Actually, the thing is that she got bodyshamed from f(x) debut. It also did not help that she used to get baggy outfits(she looked cute in them), which some thought she looked big. That stupid guy calling her fat was probably a last straw for her since she started losing weight in an extreme manner. I feel like she never got proper support from her childhood since her mom pushed her a lot. Also, Sm should really stop creating the image thing with their idols.
That was a really well made and respectful video on Sulli's tragic career. I don't think anyone could survive the kind of hate she got and for really doing nothing wrong.
The fact that the same people who criticized her felt sorry after she passed makes me so mad. People are so flippant about what they say to people without ever realizing how much they could be hurting someone and it pisses me off. I just wish people were kinder. Even though I found F(x) after all of this happened the group and especially Sulli’s legacy is something I wish more people talked about. They influenced both the industry and the general public so much. I love F(x)
I absolutely adore sulli our giant baby. She is the archetype for many idols currently. Seeing them and the idols pushing boundaries thrive makes me happy. She definitely made a difference. She was failed by sm and the entertainment industry though. I’ve seen companies be more proactive with giving their talent counseling but there’s still a lot of exploitation.
Sulli is really cool. Lyricism is something vastly important to me and the fact that I can bring up a Sulli title to my psychiatrist and use her work to give a more solid explanation of what I'm experiencing is just wonderful. I'll never understand how some celebrities or influencers can think "using your platform" is stupid or not their responsibility- Sulli did it. She and I aren't even from the same country and there are differences in the issues with our healthcare systems, yet, Sulli still talked about it. Sang about it, filmed about it. edit: spelling
This video is a masterpiece, full of respect and love. Thankyou so much for making it, ill miss Sulli till the day ill no longer breath. Thankyou, thankyou so much 🤍
I still remember that day... when the news were out. All kpop-themed pages in my country stopped posting, people were collecting money, so that fans who were at that moment in South Korea could bring flowers to Sulli's memorials. It was truly the dark day for the whole community. Rest in peace, our angel Sulli 🕊️
thank you for sharing sulli’s story. this video made me really emotional even though this year will be 5 years since her passing. i still remember the day i woke up and saw the news getting ready for school. it’s so sad and disgusting the way constantly treated her so badly like she deserved it or had to accept it because she was a public figure. i feel like people commented on her career and her life so often that it led her to question if she even knew who she was as a person outside of being a celebrity. it just really hurts my heart that the culmination of all the suffering she went through is that she’s no longer with us. she brought me so much joy when i first learned about fx and i wish that could’ve been returned to her. instead people treated her like trash constantly and had the nerve to switch up after she took her own life. i’m very sorry to her even though i had no idea any of this was happening at the time. she was a beautiful woman and soul, and i hope wherever she is now, she is experiencing true love, happiness, and comfort. rest in peace jinri.
Thank you for this video. I love and miss Sulli dearly. I hope more and laws are set up, so that idols or women never have to feel unsafe again anymore. She has made a huge impact and change and we are forever thankful. I hope her soul is in peace now.
