Interesting , I have one of these scooters from Walmart (just recently) where they sold them for $399 not the $800 it was listed at ($749 I think). I also noticed you are in Winnipeg , where I live and worked at Winnipeg Transit as a bus driver. Retired 3 years ago. Nice review and you are spot on with your observations. Love my Flash 3.0 and it gets me where I want to go. The platform is my biggest complaint because it is narrow and long rides are hard on the back foot. Yesterday I noticed strong winds tend to slow me down considerably and Winnipeg is a windy city most of the time.
hey QIX ART: Do you have any experience with dealing with the manufacturer? Like parts ect?
Thanks and HI from River East Wpg.
Hi, how is the condition of the scooter now, is it still working perfectly?
Awesome review man! Those shocks really do make a difference especially on a nice daily ride to work 😁
So thorough, thank you man.
What a beautiful commute!
I really appreciate your showing us all the rough terrain this thing can handle (those streets look pretty chopped up). thank you.
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah. Winnipeg streets suck. They aren't the best to be riding. However, great along the designate bike path.
Thanks for the helpful video!
Geez, Wpg roads/walks. Been loving them since 75 :)
LOL. yup! Although, i'm thankful for the dedicated bike lanes along rapid transit and downtown that seem to be in good shape. Residential streets... that's a different story.
@@TheWongReviewer btw, ur office veiw is premium.
PLUR.
@@bobloblaw204 If you end up getting an e-scooter, let me know if you want to be in a future youtube video. It would be nice to get more people from Winnipeg in these videos.
My brother Lance told me to check out you videos… well done 👍
Cheers…Sean Bell
Hey Sean! Thanks for the feedback. I just saw Lance today and told me some of your feedback. Thanks man! I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation out here.
Having a hard time deciding between the Gotrax Apex XL & the Gyrocopter Flash 3.0. The Apex XL has an IP rating of 54. Which means it can be splashed, but not submerged. No IP rating on the Flash is kinda sketchy, but I'm assuming it's somewhat water resistant.
Excellent detailed review Will! You covered all the bases. What was the total time it took you to travel the 7.6 kms from home to work? Also what about rain, can it be ridden in the rain if ever you were caught up in it? Lastly I would imagine that this scooter would be a no go for winter? Or can you get a pair of snow tires for it, lol?
I got this today.. It is showing 2 Bars of battery in display.
After charging for couple of hours.. there are 4 bars ..
But the light on the charger is still red.. means it is still not fully charged.
I tried to accelerate.
But it is not moving.
Or we need to run it manually till 5kmph and then accelerate.
Totally confused how to operate it..
Please help
Had it about a year, now dealing with warranty (opened a ticket with company) because it won't power on. I'm in Toronto. Was fully charged when I left from work, then it died within 5 seconds while I was riding and refused to power on again no matter how long I pressed the button. No way to reset, except open up scooter and pull the battery and plug it back in (which others have done to do a "hard reset" and get it to work). However, I didn't want to affect warranty so leaving alone until we see where support goes. Meanwhile lost all TRUST in this scooter, had to push myself home (and it doesn't roll that freely, quite a lot of resistance) about 3.5 km before finally getting a ride the rest of the way (another 3km). I am confident it is not the battery as it was fully charged, and never had issues the whole year (maintained good range, never had an issue with acceleration and motor drive). Not to mention the scooter was not even used for 4-5 months because of winter weather (November to March). This sounds like a controller issue, something with microcontroller or sensor reading. Fact that no hard reset is possible unless you open the bottom panel to unplug the battery means you can't easily fix this on the road. I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this and what support they got.
i got one and i love it! no problems so far :)
great. Thanks for sharing. Happy Riding
Hi Wing, great video, question for you. Did you have to charge the scooter at the office? Or did the battery survive the trip and back. What about water proofness? Thanks!
Hi there. I never had to charge my scooter at the office. Charge is good for 19 kms in my case
Is using sidewalks fined?
great review. i am considering this for a 6 km ride to my GO train stop and back.
Hi there. This is a pretty budget friendly scooter for the short 6km rides. If it's mostly on paved roads. Your fine.
Those Winnipeg streets are in rough shape the scooter handled them well
Hi there, I’ve noticed that when u we’re riding the scooter ur speed was flashing on the screen ? Is there any way where it could stop flashing and just show ur speed without the flash like it just keep on showing and not
Hi there. I upgraded my scooter and sold this gyrocopter. Unfortunately i can'tconfirm
. I believe it does stay on all the time, it was the frame rate I may have been recoding with my go pro that caused the flicker
could I know how to start and ride the Gyrocopters Flash 3.0? I turned on the power button and then it displays the speed mode and the speed level in the LCD display, but I found it was zero(0) speed and nothing happened to the wheel motors. So I want to know how to start and ride it.
You have to kick start the scooter before the motor will egnage. Push off with your feet to get it going
Seriously debating getting this for my three km commute
For a 3km commute, you should get it. Can't go wrong.
I got 3 km's distance first ride from charge from factory hope my second ride goes better
I make almost the exact same commute down the river path in Winnipeg that you do every day. Am considering getting one of these instead of using a bike. Are you still happy with it a year later, performance didn't deteriorate?
Hi there. I actually upgraded to the Apollo Ghost e-scooter last spring and used it all summer. I ended up selling my gyrocopter flash and can't really comment on performance after a year.
@@TheWongReviewer how much time you needed to comment ? 127 years?
@@dakudakota8502 story checks out. Sorry, did you have a question?
Is the motor waterproof? I plan on buying a cover for the control panel but i’m unsure if i can still ride it out in the rain
Hi there, this scooter does not have a IPX rating for water resistance. It''s not fully sealed and i wouldn't recommend riding this in heavy rain or in deep puddles.
@@TheWongReviewer ah okay, thank you so much. Because i live in vancouver and it’s known for being pretty rainy so i was wondering if i’m able to ride this scooter in the rain or whatnot. So light-medium rain is fine and as long as i avoid puddles?
@@EndyTrill Yes, that is correct
Is the videos sped up it looks like it’s faster then 25kmh especially when going 25km
No, the video is not sped up.
Security stopped you from carrying from carrying a portable scooter in an elevator. What kind or moronic society have we turned into? Great review. Love the scooter. I like how easily it deals with rougher terrain.
Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, it wasn't a big deal. Glad you're enjoying yours.
Hey man, these things are great but they still have a tendancy to explode if mistreated. Its important to educate everyone about the dangers of lithium in an enviorment thats run by it.
Has anyone gotten a seat for this scooter?
HI are these rubber or Air filled tires?
Hi there. They are solid rubber tires
can it be used during raining or is it waterproof??
Hi there, it doesn't have an Ipx rating. Light rain is okay, however, I wouldn't go through a heavy rainstorm or puddles.
Is it easy to open the platform and remove the battery to recharge?
HI there, I don't really recommend you opening up the platform to recharge the battery. It has a charging port built into the deck to recharge it.
@@TheWongReviewer i should have been more elaborate on my post. I like the idea of a removable battery. 2 reasons.
1 security, less likely to be stolen if the most or a expensive part is not in the scooter.
2 removing the battery and recharging away from the scooter is a better option.
This should be a standard option on all scooters.
or maybe an external port for a secondary battery so i can carry a backup battery if the other runs out of juice and not have to push it along to get home or tyo my destination.
So my statement really is i want to open the battery compartment, remove the battery and charge it at coffee shop while my scooter locked up. Not open the unit and charge it from secondary access point on the scooter.
@@cameranmanner4701 Hi there. Thanks for clarifying. I agree it would be easier if there was a way to have a removable battery to recharge it. For this particular, it's not possible. You have to unscrew the cover from the body to recharge it.
I've looked into other scooters and so far I haven't seen one where it is a removable battery. I do like the idea.
Have you riden the scooter sir when its raining? Thanks
I ride it in the snow, as long as you got your charging hole plugged with its cap you should be fine
my gyrcopter flash it rides up the street but than i have to walk back and i need to charge it for it to work can u help me or make a video
Hey there, what are you asking me?
@@TheWongReviewer ok so my scooter it will run for about 3min than shut off I can’t even go to school with it than I need to change it if I want it to work again
Seeing a lot of these recently
How do you go on cruise control?
It's automatic when you remain at a consistent speed, it will automatically kick in. Unfortunately, you can't disable this function.
Does it have any app to lock the scooter?
Hi there, it does not have a mobile app to lock the scooter.
@@TheWongReviewerAfter having it for a while, so you think it is a good benefit?
Maybe you can help me with my dilema: if you had 400, would you get it or save some more and get a Ninebot ES4 for 650?
@@rafaelsacco I looked at the nineboot and it's very similar for the gyrocopter flash 3.0. Actually, most of the scooters uses the same technology as it's from the same Chinese Manufacturer with different branding. If you're using this a casual commute to and from place, I would get the Gyrocopter Flash 3.0. If you wanted to do more off roading, and go faster, I would go with an Apollo scooter. Hope this helps.
neat id really like to get one but there is no sidewalks leaving my sub division i would have no place togo
Your suppose to ride on the street
@@mitchlue1041 i live in a rural area its 55 mph single lane highway with no shoulders or sidewalks riding in the street is a bad idea here
Bike is better you get no exercise with this
100% agree with you. I'm actually doing an updated video on why i use it as my daily commute to work. For recreation, I do use a bike.
@@TheWongReviewer ordered this scooter today. Now thinking I should’ve gone with an e bike. But getting me outside will combat the depression so this is a start.
@@deborahbarry8458 hi , how's the condition of e scooter now? Does it works perfectly. How are your experience with long term use of this scooter?
