Hi guys, i show you how to get inside a Poole type Graham Farish Class 08 loco and fix the slow start issue i feel many people will come accross in most N gauge locos.

What grease did you use?

i tend to use wheel bearing grease but only a small ammount, i use a cocktail stick to apply the grease in small ammounts on the axles and worm gear and sometimes the bearings of the motor itself. you have to be careful to make sure oil or greases stay away from the brush end of the motors otherwise you would have the issue this loco started with with erratic running issues, it is just wheel bearing grease for real cars, yellow/brown in colour. i also use oil sometimes as it adds less friction on gears but tends to go everywhere, grease doesent run everywhere as much but to much can slow down the loco, hopefully i answered you question, the grease can pretty much be anything

This loco is in dire need of a Stay Alive. Many other UA-cam videos saying similar and also the brass pickups on the wheels need some attention.

I have new tool versions and these poole type versions, I tend to opt to put stay alives in the new tool versions. You could possibly put a stay alive in one of these and a decoder and a coreless motor and lights and windows, blacken the wheels etc 👍

Yes, i guess im just fearful of the contacts getting gummed up with non conductive oil or grease.. however dry axles arent a good thing either unfortunately 👍
