The cigarette is a beautifully portrayed plot instrument this episode. I believe “Easy Revenge” is a message to Aki emphasizing how life should be taken easily sometimes… even when performing something morbid like revenge. Kicking someone in the nuts over here will do lol. Himeno learnt this from Aki actually which is shown in the scene where he sticks gum on a lady to get back at her. The finale poses something quite disturbing though. As Aki lights up the cigarette, we only see the “Easy” part burn away….. probably meaning that Revenge is not gonna be easy anymore.

Guys, I don't know if someone already said that to you (maybe on Patreon), but Denji didn't win with the chainsaw on his head! He lied about only having that one remaining so that Katana Man would focus on taking that out. He extracted one from his leg to cut him in half! That's why he said Kishibe's words "A beast should never believe what the hunter says". Also, during last episode, you can see that when Denji and Power are finishing their training Denji's pants are ripped in pieces everywhere, a little something to tell us that he managed to use chainsaw on his legs too.
Just so you guys know because it’s a bit more elaborated on in the manga, the reason the future devil made the contract of just staying in aki’s eye in return for seeing a bit into the future is essentially because he just wants to see aki’s death from that perspective because Aki will die “in the worst way possible”
It's not even a manga/anime difference actually, it was an error in the english subs (japanese word for "rad" and worse sound similar.) They even updated the subs, it says worse now

"Can't" could be interpreted as shouldn't, but it also can be interpreted as an impossibility, while if they just used "shouldn't" it would've been more precise, without room for wrong interpretations.

Thank you for reacting to this Anime. I had no intention to watch this due to the amount of hype it was getting. Curiosity got the better of me. Once I heard that base line from the "Kick Back" opening, I was hooked. To me, it set the tone of the series. Needless to say, It totally blew my mind. I watched the entire series & bought season 1 as ASAP.
I don't understand why u don't watch something that has a lot of hype?? Hype in any media always means a great potential source material. People hype something for a reason. As a matter of fact, if a show is hyped than that means it's probably gonna be a good show. I would feel really skeptical about starting a show that I heard nobody talk about

Aki does get his Easy Revenge.🚬 The Country Mouse & The City Mouse is a reference to the book that Taiyou, (Aki's brother) was reading on the day he died in episode 3 or 4...I can't remember. That scene is a really big tease for the next arc. The Country Mouse and The City Mouse is one of Aesop's fables. It basically asks you if you would live a quiet, peaceful life like a country mouse or live more of a dangerous, exciting life like a city mouse.🐀🐁
aki isn't just a host. they explained in aki's battle against the ghost devil that the future devil being in aki's eye allows him to glimpse into the future. basically he can predict his enemies moves right before they happen. that's why he was doing well in the battle against the ghost devil, but in the end his reaction time wasn't fast enough even tho he had future sight cus ghost kept bombarding him with blows.
Congratulation on finishing the light introduction of chainsaw man! 😂 The series is far from over, and I can't wait to watch you see all the future arcs that made the manga so amazing!

I recently seen Ranking of Kings, and not knowing anything it caught me off guard. It is a brilliant storytelling piece that in my opinion would fit for you guys to react to.

The contact future devil has gives aki a few moments peak into the future. Like a few seconds. That helps him fight better. But that's it. There's nothing more than that (as said by the future devil voiceover) Also the exchange between them was the the future devil wants to witness Aki's death. Cuz it's supposed to be "death in the worst possible way"
My interpretation is that it's not that Aki doesn't have any fear because he only has 2 years of life left, I think when he saw the cigarette, he knew that the Himeno has become part of the Ghost Devil so his fear disappeared. Aki looked so badass there but if it wasn't for Kobeni I think his ass would have been whooped by the snake girl. Also I would like to recommend Hunter X Hunter and Lycoris Recoil.
it wouldn't make much sense with established rules if Himeno was absorbed by the Ghost Devil or influencing it with her will or anything in that ballpark. However, Devils do follow their contract holders around and remember what they experience, as well as have complex personalities, so it's on the other hand quite likely that the Ghost Devil wanted to extend a literal helping hand to Aki as a form of sympathy, as it would remember the cigarette as well as Aki and Himeno's relationship. And honestly that's a lot more sweet.
It's nice to see both of you enjoy this season 1 and seems like you notice some points to that makes the show has their own unique. Don't worries because CSM had really well constructed storyline and there's still a lot of things that gonna happen in future seasons till the end of part 1 (season 3).

The fact that Chainsaw Man doesn't drag out it's fights is something I actually appreciate a lot. It gets to the point without any padding, yet is still clever most of the time. Other shounen manga would easily revel in the Chainsaw Man vs. Katana Man fight for 5+ chapter, but Fujimoto just finishes it in a chapter and a half. And it's better for it imo. It just fits the neckbreak pacing of the story as a whole.
So at the opening scene the reason the ghost devil dropes aki is because he was able to see him trough his fear, aki was afraid at that moment so ghost saw who he was, another thing is that whoever contracts with the ghost devil becomes part of it once they die, that’s why ghost has so many hands, it’s all the people it has contracted with.
Denji didn't win with the head chainsaw. The chainsaw he used were in his legs. Also he used Kishibe's line afterwards: "prey shouldn't trust what a hunter says "
my theory for the ghost devil remembering aki or having the cig is remember, himeno sacrificed herself (she said i will give my everything to you, so give your everything to me or something like that) , so it's like she kinda merged completely with the ghost devil itself and lost her existence.. may be that;s why ghost still has himeno's memory or that cigarette

I think as far as Denji not having a heart, I don't think its true, I think Denji doesn't feel those kind of emotions because he grew up without any sort of friends or family outside of Pochita. His father died at such a young age for him, and on top of that we don't know how well his father treated him either, good or bad. If I had to guess, it wasn't well just because of the fact the father had such a massive debt to the gangs. So I think it is more so that Denji is slowly learning what its like to care for others.

The future devil said that aki will die in the most horrendous and brutal way possible so the future devil just wants to go along with the ride. I finished the manga a few days ago. And I can say this season is just merely a prologue. The main story starts in season 2...and it gets way way way way better
This anime and jojo part 6 were the first ones that made me want to actually read the manga, and I don't usually do that. Waiting years for the next season is just too much...
Season 2 definitely not coming out until 2024. This production got longer than most and still had to fall back on CG a lot.. give them as much time as possible.

we love denji because he's soo real, unhinged, and relatable when other anime main characters mostly have those generic perfect personality haha
I also love that fights here are brutal and end when they should. No 10 minutes of exchanging blows leading to nothing and just enough banter.

On point about someone having more than one contract, that's at least one W. It was fun watching u guys react throughout.
My interpretation is that it's not that Aki doesn't have any fear because he only has 2 years of life left, I think when he saw the cigarette, he knew that the Himeno has become part of the Ghost Devil so his fear disappeared. Aki looked so badass there but if it wasn't for Kobeni I think his ass would have been whooped by the snake girl.
Also I would like to recommend Hunter X Hunter and Lycoris Recoil.

it wouldn't make much sense with established rules if Himeno was absorbed by the Ghost Devil or influencing it with her will or anything in that ballpark. However, Devils do follow their contract holders around and remember what they experience, as well as have complex personalities, so it's on the other hand quite likely that the Ghost Devil wanted to extend a literal helping hand to Aki as a form of sympathy, as it would remember the cigarette as well as Aki and Himeno's relationship.
And honestly that's a lot more sweet.

It's nice to see both of you enjoy this season 1 and seems like you notice some points to that makes the show has their own unique. Don't worries because CSM had really well constructed storyline and there's still a lot of things that gonna happen in future seasons till the end of part 1 (season 3).

She was a perfect supporting character, moving things along and shedding light both on Aki and Denji. She's second only to Power!

It is like with Power I would like to go on a party andI'm sure that I would have a good time there, with Makima I would like to have a long walk and talk about her way of seeing the world but Himeno is the one that I would like to be in a realtionship with. i'm stll not sure about Kobeni she needs some more screen time for me, but from manga readres I've heard that she is "the driver" for our crew and I'm a pertolhead so she has a chance.

The fact that Chainsaw Man doesn't drag out it's fights is something I actually appreciate a lot. It gets to the point without any padding, yet is still clever most of the time. Other shounen manga would easily revel in the Chainsaw Man vs. Katana Man fight for 5+ chapter, but Fujimoto just finishes it in a chapter and a half. And it's better for it imo. It just fits the neckbreak pacing of the story as a whole.

So at the opening scene the reason the ghost devil dropes aki is because he was able to see him trough his fear, aki was afraid at that moment so ghost saw who he was, another thing is that whoever contracts with the ghost devil becomes part of it once they die, that’s why ghost has so many hands, it’s all the people it has contracted with.

I think as far as Denji not having a heart, I don't think its true, I think Denji doesn't feel those kind of emotions because he grew up without any sort of friends or family outside of Pochita. His father died at such a young age for him, and on top of that we don't know how well his father treated him either, good or bad. If I had to guess, it wasn't well just because of the fact the father had such a massive debt to the gangs. So I think it is more so that Denji is slowly learning what its like to care for others.

You know devils instinctively love strife and suffering so the future devil just basically want a front row seat to all of that. Aki didn’t see into the future that time, he just had a flashback

Season 2 definitely not coming out until 2024. This production got longer than most and still had to fall back on CG a lot.. give them as much time as possible.
