You asked, we delivered! Here's a quick look at the Stay & Scream process for HHN32. How did you feel like we did, and are you planning on doing Stay & Scream??
I purchased stay & scream AND express because I am going by myself but I also wanted to assure I could do all the houses because I went w my neighbor and her group of friends last year and we only saw 2 houses 😒 I’m so ready to take this event by the horns all by myself!!
Thanks for testing it out for us! 4 houses by 6:30 is impressive. I don't think waiting 80 mins is worth it for Stranger Things tho, but I know it is a must on many people's list so makes sense to do first.
Ya, thankfully only waiting like 18 minutes or so was REALLY nice. We have Express, so we never wait more than 15 or so minutes anyway, but for Stay & Scream, it was really nice haha.
Someone asked about stayin at Finnegan’s during stay and scream. You can, but really need a reservation. We always stay there for dinner when we stay/scream. I agree that you can get things done without express or RIP when doing stay/scream. You sound much better! Be well.
Haha yes! Doing much better, just catching up on some UA-cam comments finally. Busy week, but thankfully it was short lived! I think Stay and Scream is certainly a great budget option, but I don't think I would attempt HHN without ANYTHING at this point, ESPECIALLY on a Saturday. I've heard some people doing all 10 houses without anything, so I guess it's doable, but with some of those 120+ lines, it seems a bit close. I also prefer not staying till 2am, I'm getting too old LOL 😂
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I was anxious about our stay and scream plan for Oct 13th, but this made me feel so much better. Very much appreciate this video and your attention to detail.
Of course! This was a Saturday as well, so it was the busiest day of the week. Granted, I imagine Friday the 13th will be busy haha, but it should still kind of operate the same way. The earlier in to your holding area inside of Stay & Scream, the better!
@@Dillon.Thomas Yes, thank you! My friends and I are traveling to do HHN and visit the parks and we can’t get express so I’ve been nervous as I’ve never done stay and scream. Do you think this will be easier on a Thursday night? We’re going next Thursday and a couple of us have been a bit worried about the wait times while we don’t have express. But I’m thinking if you managed to get 4 houses done this way on a Saturday, we should hopefully be good?
@@BirannosaurusRex I would say if you're ok waiting in the holding areas inside of stay and scream early, you'll definitely be ok. I would do what we did for houses, knock out those first 3, then most likely Chucky as we did, then head over to Darkest Deal and Oddfellows Twisted Origins for the next 2, and then you can do the long wait of TLOU or head over to Monsters if you want. OR instead of doing chucky, you hit Exorcist and Blood Moon, but both of those get pretty low later in the night if you plan on staying till 2am. The biggest thing would definitely be getting in the holding area nice and early! If you do that, and you optimize your route decently well after that, you should be ok. Thursdays tend to be a little less busy, as well, so you should be good! Most team members are super nice and can help direct you if you get lost navigating around haha. Either way, you should be good to go for sure!
Thank you for the review. I understand that in your case the ST queue was only 18 mins but that does not factor in the 75 minutes you had to wait between 4 - 5:15 (total wait time was actually 93 mins). Considering that ST is on average a ~90 - 100 minute wait during normal HHN hours, how much are people really gaining by getting in the ST line early for S&S?
I definitely get your point. I think my thought is, I'd rather wait the time ahead of time while HHN isn't open to guarantee a short ST4 wait. Otherwise you're cutting in to your HHN time. Your other option is to do all of the short houses like Dueling Dragons, Yeti, Chucky, Darkest Deal and Oddfellow. Everyone has their own routes, and I think anything will work. But if someone wants to hit all 10 houses during HHN without buying express, I think this is the way to do it. Again, TOTALLY my opinion. But I think trying to get the long houses out early, or at least one of the 2 (TLOU & ST4), is the way to do it. You sacrifice the hour beforehand, but you get the quick house runs as a "reward". If you were just getting into the park when it gets up to 75-90+ minutes and you go straight in at 630pm when the gates open, you're still not getting out of that house till now 730pm, and those other houses we wait practically no time for, will most likely have at least a 20 minute long wait after you've finished (most likely longer). It's kind of a weird scenario, it really depends on where people want to spend time, too. I don't necessarily think this is the only way to do things, this is just a test to show people what you can get done by doing Stay & Scream before the park opens, by waiting in line at 4pm basically haha. But again, you aren't wrong, the total wait time for ST4 is still over an hour. But we got to do that ahead of the park being open for HHN. That's where the sacrifice is, waiting instead of doing rides haha.
Question, what day of the week was this and do you think it could be better/worse depending on what day? :) Thanks, great video our group wants to take this exact route on Thursday the 19th
This was a Saturday. We wanted to put it to the test to make sure it was the busiest day of the week. I would say this theoretically is the busiest day of the week, Saturdays then Fridays. Good luck and have fun! We've tested a few things on the channel if you want to check any of those videos to prepare, but overall I would say Saturdays is definitely the busiest.
We did stay and scream and got 5 houses completed that night; two were shut down. The line for the last of us that first night was so stupidly long for stay and scream. The next night, I was sick, so we just enjoyed the scare zones and food.
That stinks you were sick, definitely some sort of bug going around HHN right now, been going around for a few weeks now which sucks. Was there some weather issues for the shutdown? That seems bizarre if it wasn't weather related. TLOU gets REALLY long pretty much all night long. SOMETIMES it drops a little bit, but not much ha
We may, our thought was this would be the best S&S option since it has so many houses close to it and most of them open nice and early, allowing you to knock out multiple house very quickly!
Great video! We did stay and scream last Thursday and did 3 houses in an hour! Stranger things first (we were a little closer to beginning of line than you were and got out around 5:35!) Then we did Dueling dragons and then Monsters (it had no wait and was one of our fav houses). We went ahead and did express the night before and it was SO worth it!
Express is still my preferred method, just because I love the ability to pace at my own rate. I think without express, I feel like I'm forced running around house to house. I liked our route a lot actually, doing ST4, Dueling Dragons and Yeti were all really nice since you get out so close to each other. Then kind of choosing if you want to do Chucky and continue going around, or Exorcist and Blood Moon would have been our other thought. However, the back side of the park was VERY slow as we saw 5 and 10 minute waits. I'm surprised Monsters was so slow at that point, too. Glad you were able to have a good time, though! Love to hear good success stories of their HHN trip! 😊
We keep talking about stay and scream and express…. Have you done a video about Dr.Oddfellow’s scare zones and time line? Just for those all about the lore of HHN? For some reason I’m excited about the behind the story of it all
I have not personally, no. But I know Dreamport has done some information on it! He's very into giving some lore to the whole event, you may find his stuff what you're looking for. I'm mostly vlogging/hanging out, and then some tips and tricks when we find things that we get questions about 😄
Sure thing! Hopefully this helps out while you're here! I've noticed some people will start in the back and work forward, I haven't done that method yet, but I think if you plan it out, you can definitely hit a lot of houses as well. Good luck!! 😊
Haven't played the game, but it definitely might have been! They're putting trailers on display it looks like, so maybe they're advertising the new movie??
I have a question. So if it starts raining before the event happens and it rains none stop. Do I get a refund or what happens? I’m going on Friday the 13th.
I'm not sure how the refund status works, they typically note that the event goes on "rain or shine" So I'd assume they aren't going to refund it, but you may be able to talk to guest services if it were the case. However, the houses are still operational in the rain (unless they get flooded which has happened to a few) but most are ok, the food booths are still open, and I believe the show still goes. So the scare zones would potentially be empty since the scare actors can't be out in the rain. So they assume you still get your value in the ticket since it's not necessarily "closed". Sorry if that's not really helpful, but I would say your best bet is still talk to guest services if something happened, but I imagine they probably wouldn't refund it unless it were like a hurricane that closed the event completely. If people are still walking around and doing things, I don't know if they'll be able to do much 🤐
@@LuisMartinez-sx5qs I'll say in Florida, never believe the forecast haha. Unless it's actually raining, they could say 90% change and it never happens haha. It's all up in the air, but TYPICALLY the storms move through quick, not always, but typically lol.
@@Dillon.Thomas I got in line for Stranger Things at 3:53pm. Long story short I went in the order you did and I was done with Chucky at 6:40pm. I caught the Megan dance horde at 7 and then started back at Dr. OddFellow and rounded up the night at the BloodMoon house at 1:54am. I missed the show in the old Fear Factory pavilion and didn’t walk through the scare zone in Hollywood. Heck, I even rode The Mummy,Escape from Gringotts & the Transformers. Other than not getting the Peanut Blooder Smashburger I came home completely tired and fulfilled!!! Lol Thank you for your helpful hints! P.S. I didn’t do express pass. And the place was packed. The Last of Us was a legit 100 minutes most of the night!
That's what someone was saying! Interesting, lots of FNAF things hanging around the this HHN... Feeling like a 2024 appearance is in the works for FNAF at HHN33
I don't know if they allow you to do that, people were over there but I wasn't sure if it was them just waiting to eat or if they were doing some Stay & Scream thing. It seemed like everyone was mostly outside and routed around in a big loop for the most part.
You mentioned $40 during the video - I thought you just need a park ticket and the Horror Nights Ticket to do this ? Is there an additional charge for Stay and Scream ?
If you have a park ticket, you don't need to purchase stay and scream tickets. It's "included" since you have a day ticket already. But you still need a ticket to HHN. So your 2 options are HHN ticket + stay and scream or HHN ticket + regular park ticket. Hope that helps!
Hi, thanks for the great video. I would say stranger things was 100 minutes because they opened to regular guests early. When I did it they opened up before six so all the New York houses were getting big crowds. I'm guessing that is why you left to go up to Chucky?
We just figured Chucky was another long wait throughout the night, and we didn't want to head all the way over to TLOU, knowing that would be long. So we figured Exorcist and Blood Moon can get pretty low later in the night, where Chucky tends to also have a decently long line. So we knocked it out to finalize our 4th house. It seemed like they let some guests in early, as I did not expect ST4 to get up to that long of a wait that early, so it's definitely something to note for the future!
@@Dillon.Thomas Yeah, last time I was there, blood moon got up to 35 minutes by 18:05. It would have been a walk on if it was only stay and scream at that time. I was heading to island's anyway to hit some other rides and the front gate was already clear of crowds so they must have opened them at least ten minutes before six, which does drastically change New York stay and scream obviously
@@johnsullivan6507 Ah, ya that makes sense, I do feel like they tend to let people in a little early. As we noticed the one day around 6 we started to see a lot of commotion when we were relaxing in City Walk, and it almost looked like people were headed in. So it could just be a way for them to get things moving earlier?
Are the halloween food vendors available during stay and scream hours and i will be doing only one night at hhn i am doing the stay and scream and express pass will i be able to do all 10 houese and scare zones along with show death eaters and megan hord and eat some more hhn food
Dang, that's a LOT to get done haha. I would say with Express + Stay and Scream, you should be able to do everything. I would say say if you REALLY want to cut your time to nothing, you can do your express during Stay & Scream, but that's up to you. I think you'll still be ok, we haven't waited more than 15-20 minutes even in the 2 hour long lines when we use Express. We've had ONE 30 minute long wait, and it was abnormal, and it was for Chucky. Outside of that, I don't think we've ever waited more than 20 minutes. Also, there was at least that one food booth open (the last of us in central park), so there's definitely a chance more are open. The street ones that aren't blocked off I don't believe are available, though. As it's still only for HHN guests.
You can use your Express During Stay & Scream, yes. We didn't want to use ours, because we wanted to give an accurate representation of what you can get done without using S&S, but you absolutely can! And there's like NOBODY in the Express lines haha. For example, or Dueling Dragons line was so short we walked right in, and at that point you could save express to run it again later, but if you don't care to do that, then just use it to save more time at that point.
Okay, this is really good to know. We're passholders so Stay and Scream may be a good bet for us since a) we don't need to pay extra and b) we aren't convinced that we want to shell out for express. I know you had a GREAT time with express waits, I remember that video and your longest wait was like 13 minutes - plus you've vouched for the value of express in comments - but I can't shake the feeling that my luck will be bad and my waits will still be long even with express. Stay & scream will def work for us though. I'm only bummed that there's not a Stay & Scream post at Today Cafe this year because I want to see the opening scaremonies and I'm half sure that was the only post where you could see it.
Unfortunately, I don't think that's the case. I've heard from someone that you may be ushered to the front of the park if you aren't in a stay & scream holding area, so maybe that's where they would put you if you weren't being held?? I would say this is a GREAT option if you don't want to buy Express, especially if you don't mind waiting in the holding area nice and early. I think if we waited by like 3pm, we could have got in Stranger Things in the first 5-10 minutes, and probably gotten one more house done, honestly. But we got in after 4pm, so we weren't the first group. I do think Express would save a TON of time, as we still have yet to wait more than 15-20 minutes tops, even on Saturdays. But I can get the hesitation, and it's NOT cheap by any means. We did TLOU as we closed this video out, and I think we waited MAYBE 10 minutes? If that? And then went over to Monsters and waited maybe 5? Granted... this was still early in the night and not too many people were in Express yet, but we still did 6 houses by like 7-7:15ish. And honestly, we probably could have finished all 10 by like 9pm or earlier with our Express if we wanted haha! But again, pricey, and I would say it may be worth saving the money if you're nervous about, plus that's more money for merch and food/beverages! LOL
@@Dillon.Thomas It's no big deal not to get to see the opening scaremonies if it means we won't have to wait 120 minutes for Stranger Things. It's a compromise I'm willing to make for sure.
We didn't remember ourselves until after we were redirected. We thought it was just a holdup from a team member, and we couldn't really see anything because it was so dark. Then Nicole kept telling the group "I think we go this way" and pointed to the right. So I don't think I'd classify it a "dick move". But to each their own 🥸
@jagmaida5074 it's no problem, maybe it came off that way. I think I just mentioned it was funny that we all just stopped and maybe that's what you thought. But none of us could see where we were going, it wasn't till Nicole realized that we needed to go right and we tried to redirect the group in front of us, however one of them actually went all the way behind the props to where the scare actor was. Just goes to show how important sunglasses are to adjust your eyes before the houses. 😅
Going through the houses during Stay and Scream will be a full cast run through! The only time you may experience big gaps is if the house extends after 2am. Hope this was helpful!
Appreciate it! We definitely were missing a few in our run throughs, we noticed Chucky was a bit more empty than normal, and Dueling Dragons was missing a few. But again, we saw 4 members walking in probably around the 6:00pm mark or so!
@@Dillon.Thomas yeah on occasion some actors may be late to set for a variety of reasons but we do our best to provide a great experience! Enjoyed the video 👍🏼
@@Joshwake Ya, I always imagine there's only so much help for makeup and things of that nature, or god forbid that traffic getting into the park haha. Thank you! 😊
Depends on how you look at it. Yes, my "waiting" would have been awhile to start. But many people want to know how many houses they can get done with doing stay and scream. And I think if you prepare yourself, you can get a lot done. I think if we got in even earlier, like 3pm, we would have easily been able to do another 2 houses since we would have been done with ST4 in like 5 minutes. So this is about what you can get done with stay and scream, not about rides and what not during stay and scream.

@@Dillon.Thomas
Yeah, last time I was there, blood moon got up to 35 minutes by 18:05.
Which day of the week did you go?
This was a Saturday!
For stay in scream do you need to buy an extea ticket for it if you're doing universal in the morning ?
@@MichaelTrujilloJr23 if you have a ticket for Universal Studios, you don't need a stay n scream ticket, as you have access to the park till HHN!
@Dillon.Thomas okay makes sense thank you. Somebody told me you did.
I may have asked you this already but I forgot lol can you use your express pass in stay and scream?
You can use your Express During Stay & Scream, yes. We didn't want to use ours, because we wanted to give an accurate representation of what you can get done without using S&S, but you absolutely can! And there's like NOBODY in the Express lines haha. For example, or Dueling Dragons line was so short we walked right in, and at that point you could save express to run it again later, but if you don't care to do that, then just use it to save more time at that point.
@Dillon.Thomas thank you! I got here this morning!! Tearing up Universal right now! Anywhere you know where I can charge a phone? Lol
@angcap15 haha that's a good question! I think maybe some of the stores might have an outlet? Otherwise I think you have to use a powerbank 🙃
@@Controller-Cassie Haha I hear that! There's a few videos online to see it, as well.
pov: me and my boyfriend sitting on the curb in the beginning of the video.
😂 LOL. I think a lot of people were just kind of lounging around waiting haha.
kind of a dick move not telling the people who couldn't see which way to go 11:00
We didn't remember ourselves until after we were redirected. We thought it was just a holdup from a team member, and we couldn't really see anything because it was so dark. Then Nicole kept telling the group "I think we go this way" and pointed to the right. So I don't think I'd classify it a "dick move". But to each their own 🥸
@@Dillon.Thomas oh sorry man the way said it in the video sounded like you knew and just wanted to pass them I misunderstood
Thank you! 😊
2nd I guess?
Lol I guess does mine count??
But didn't you technically wait 75 mins? because you wait in line outside
