This dress is inspired by Melty Ribbon Chocolate from Angelic Pretty. I’ve always wanted to make a dress like that, so I made this inspired dress^^. I use 1.5 yards fabric. You can get same fabric at Walmart. ^^ The method to make first part of the dress is similar to DIY sweetheart dress I made last week (The link is in the description box). The different was I gathered the skirt part instead of making circle skirt. I think for making a Lolita inspired dress (skirt part), it’s better make a gathered skirt is better than make a circle skirt. ^^
I was a bit scared when I started my sewing journey, not knowing where to find patterns that I liked, and then I found your channel! Your style is amazing, you are gorgeous and your tutorials are awesome, thank you so much!
I've just found your channel. Thank you so much for doing what you do. Your circle skirt video helped me a lot with a Harvest Moon cosplay I am doing. Your tutorials are so easy to follow and it's clear what you are doing in the videos. I'm new to sewing and am a visual learner, so your videos help me a lot! You make sewing look so easy :) I can't wait to try this dress for another cosplay I have in mind.
I recently discovered your channel when I was trying to learn how to make garters and chokers and now I think you've started a sewing addiction on me! Everything you make is so cute and well done!
I love all your dresses but this one I fall in love with even more every time something about the style and everything it's so cute and you are adorable too
This is wonderful. Your Lolita-inspired designs are always so cute, and it's great to see how they're improving over time. I agree with a comment about sewing bows together instead of hot glue (because it lasts longer) and about the collar being a bit too square, but besides that the design is solid and this dress is a wonderful tribute to a fabulous dress. AP is one of my fave brands, and you're one of my fave UA-camrs, so this video just makes me super happy.
I would love to see more pillow, purses, pencil cases and coin pouches :DI loved those tutorials. But I watched the ones with your handmade dresses and loved those to :)you a very creative!
Just some advice >_> the next time you want to sew trim on to a curved piece or anything with a curve use bias ribbon or tape. It will tilt and turn without any puckering like the white ribbon sewn onto the collar. And if you can't find it you can always make bias tape or ribbon from any fabric that is cut on the 45 degree diagonal. Very cute though >.< !
I wanted a yellow belt for my cosplay. And being a plus size girls is very difficult to find one. Now thanks to you, I will make one out of ribbon. Thank you so much. You got a fan in me. ^_^
Yumi, I'm really glad I found your channel! Thank you so much for these tutorials, it's helping me get better at sewing my own lolita dresses! I hope you ignore some of the more hateful people that are going nuts over a little hot glue on a bow. I hand sew my bows only because I was taught how, but if I didn't know, then i'd be doing the same as you, and that's ok! It's not like you're making these for anyone else but yourself. I will keep watching and learning from your many many tutorials :)
Would it be possible to make something like this minus the skirt to make a top or vest? I'm a sweet/classical ouji and kodona wearer so I was wondering if I could adapt this! ^w^
Ahh so cutee!! Im so happy that theres a new lolita video out and that you also used lolita brands as inspiration! 💕 I hope theres more lolita videos in the future!!
Amazing, as usual ^^ It's such a coincidence though - I just finished making a AP melty ribbon chocolate inspired dress as well (though I used navy velveteen instead of brown) oAo
Thank you for making these videos , they encouraged me to make my own clothes lolita Besides the feeling that I look good , I think I 'm doing something good ( or at least do not do awful lol ) Greetings from Argentina
so i was wondering if you could....make a dress like toriels from undertale? i like how the dress is long (and it seems that it flows nicely from what i think anyways)... it would be a nice dress to have for a walk in the park or something like that ya know? you could make it warm and fuzzy for winter!
Yumi! you HAVE to make an online shop where you sell these dresses. I don't have the right materials around where I live and can't find s sewing machine anywhere!
Could you teach us how to make pumpkin shorts or bloomers ? Since they are often used in cosplay and can be used under lolitas or dresses in general compare to safety shorts! Thanks!! And this dress is so cute, I wanna make something like this in the future, making my own dolly apparels~
+RaschellXuan I would suggest, if you're ever worried about the fabric getting ruined in the wash to either wash it by hand or put the machine on a delicate cycle. And, instead of throwing them in the dryer, hang dry. Otherwise, dry cleaners if you have the money.
+RaschellXuan I've been sewing for 17 years and I follow this protocol with glue vs sew. If it's an item that will get wear do I want to spend the rest of the garment's life treating it special each and every time it needs to be laundered? You're either going to spend an extra 20 minutes specially caring for a garment each time it is cleaned or you can take the extra 20 minutes to sew it down the first time. Gluing it makes since if it's something that will rarely be washed. Cause you can take an extra 20 mins to care for it properly the one or two times you wash it ever. Sewing it makes sense if you know it's going to be washed 3+ times so that you aren't spending hours and hours of additional time caring for it over the life of the garment.
If you want to sew the bows it's really easy just cut a square of your fabric (the bigger it is the bigger the bow will be) next fold it in half with the nice sides or right sides facing each other then sew them down leaving a gap and inside out it then sew the gap closed next pinch it in the middle and sew down it sounds like a lot but it's not also before you close the gap you could add stuffing so it keeps its shape hope this helps!!💕💕💖
this is a lovely dress, however I would say lengthen the skirt part more, its too short for lolita, since most lolita dressed are knee length or longer. however this is very creative and a good starting point for creating lolita dresses 😊😊✨
That glue doesn't stay if you try to wash the dress (the ribbons). What to do in that case? Sew instead? By the way in liking very much your tutorials, gonna try some because are cheaper than sometimes real brand dresses (i don't have much money) and you can add you're on personal taste. Keep going
Your design is going in the right direction The colar seems a little weird, maybe next time you could improvre that by making your own bodice pattern. also, be shure to not use hot glue because it lower the quality of your products other than that, it's good!
+Yumi King Hand sewing is the best method, sorry honey, I really love your videos and tutorials, but I cry inside every time to you use hot glue. This really lower the quality of your dresses.
Mari Mikan One question: Have you ever bought a quality piece clothing made with hot glue? No. Because hot glue is really the worst way to make anything with fabric.

I wanna do this but I don't know how to sow any tips? And I know my mum will say yes
You're a genius :O
I am searching for victorian/ steampunk dresses, I think it could be a good idea ! Also a cosplay of Alice Madness Returns would be perfect !!
so i was wondering if you could....make a dress like toriels from undertale? i like how the dress is long (and it seems that it flows nicely from what i think anyways)... it would be a nice dress to have for a walk in the park or something like that ya know? you could make it warm and fuzzy for winter!

Are you selling any of the stuff you make?
She's so adorable it's scary
YUMI IS THE BEST
im curious. everything you do with the hot glue gun must become scrap/ugly in the washing machine? or am I wrong? .-.
Maybe she doesn't wash it D: I don't know, I have the same question
I do wash them . These silk ribbon bows work fine since they are good quality.
+RaschellXuan I would suggest, if you're ever worried about the fabric getting ruined in the wash to either wash it by hand or put the machine on a delicate cycle. And, instead of throwing them in the dryer, hang dry. Otherwise, dry cleaners if you have the money.

you are a very skilful and tenacious
Do you like Japan? And even the anime?
wow...you are really talented..you should design and sell your own cloths..sell them online..
this is a lovely dress, however I would say lengthen the skirt part more, its too short for lolita, since most lolita dressed are knee length or longer. however this is very creative and a good starting point for creating lolita dresses 😊😊✨
I want to buy it !Where to sell it ?
SO ADORABLE!

I've been searching for any videos that shows how you make the white shirt.. but i couldn't find it 😭
Hi .. Can u pls show how to stich a simple frock ... bodice and skirt with measurement to make a frock .. Great videos 👍🏻👍🏻
can some one tell me what sewing machine she uses?
Your design is going in the right direction
The colar seems a little weird, maybe next time you could improvre that by making your own bodice pattern.
also, be shure to not use hot glue because it lower the quality of your products
other than that, it's good!
Is there other way to make double ribbon bow without glue? 。^‿^。
I've nevef had any problems using hotglue gun when making bows.
+Yumi King Hand sewing is the best method, sorry honey, I really love your videos and tutorials, but I cry inside every time to you use hot glue. This really lower the quality of your dresses.
You can hand sew the folds, make nots to put them all together, then with the part in the middle, you can do invisible stiches.
Mari Mikan One question: Have you ever bought a quality piece clothing made with hot glue? No.
Because hot glue is really the worst way to make anything with fabric.
a little rough around the collar. maybe use some sort of bias tape for the curved white accent next time for a smoother curve?
Halo...
